Protestate con vostra madre protestate, perché essa non è mia moglie e io non sono suo marito. Allontani dalla sua faccia le sue prostituzioni e i suoi adulteri di mezzo alle sue mammelle;

3 L est I strip her naked and make her as in the day she was born, and make her as a wilderness and set her like a parched land and slay her with thirst.

altrimenti la spoglierò nuda e la renderò come il giorno della sua nascita; la ridurrò a un deserto, la renderò come una terra arida e la farò morire di sete.

4 Y es, for her children I will have no love nor pity nor mercy, for they are the children of harlotry.

Non avrò compassione dei suoi figli, perché sono figli di prostituzione.

5 F or their mother has played the harlot; she who conceived them has done shamefully, for she said, I will go after my lovers that give me my food and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my refreshing drinks.

La loro madre infatti si è prostituita, colei che li ha concepiti si è comportata in modo vergognoso, perché ha detto: "Andrò dietro ai miei amanti, che mi danno il mio pane e la mia acqua, la mia lana e il mio lino, il mio olio e la mia bevanda"

6 T herefore, behold, I will hedge up her way with thorns; and I will build a wall against her that she shall not find her paths.

Perciò ecco, ti ostruirò la via con spine, la rinchiuderò con un muro, e cosí non troverà piú i suoi sentieri.

7 A nd she shall follow after her lovers but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them. Then shall she say, Let me go and return to my first husband, for then was it better with me than now.

Correrà dietro ai suoi amanti, ma non li raggiungerà; li cercherà, ma non li troverà. Allora dirà: "Ritornerò al mio primo marito, perché per me era meglio allora che adesso".

8 F or she has not noticed, understood, or realized that it was I Who gave her the grain and the new wine and the fresh oil, and Who lavished upon her silver and gold which they used for Baal and made into his image.

Essa non riconobbe che io le davo grano, mosto e olio e accrescevo il suo argento e oro, che essi offrivano a Baal

9 T herefore will I return and take back My grain in the time for it and My new wine in the season for it, and will pluck away and recover My wool and My flax which were to cover her nakedness.

Perciò io riprenderò il mio grano a suo tempo e il mio mosto nella sua stagione, e le sottrarrò la mia lana e il mio lino, che servivano a coprire la sua nudità.

10 A nd now will I uncover her lewdness and her shame in the sight of her lovers, and no one shall rescue her out of My hand.

Ora scoprirò le sue vergogne agli occhi dei suoi amanti e nessuno la salverà dalla mia mano.

11 I will also cause to cease all her mirth, her feastmaking, her New Moons, her Sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts and appointed festive assemblies.

Farò pure cessare tutte le sue gioie, le sue feste, i suoi noviluni, i suoi sabati, e tutte le sue solennità.

12 A nd I will lay waste and destroy her vines and her fig trees of which she has said, These are my reward or loose woman’s hire that my lovers have given me; and I will make an inaccessible forest, and the wild beasts of the open country shall eat them.

Devasterò quindi le sue viti e i suoi fichi, di cui essa diceva: "Questi sono i miei regali che mi hanno dato i miei amanti". Cosí li ridurrò a una boscaglia e le bestie dei campi li divoreranno.

13 A nd I will visit upon her for the feast days of the Baals, when she burned incense to them and decked herself with her earrings and nose rings and her jewelry and went after her lovers and forgot Me, says the Lord.

La punirò quindi per i giorni dei Baal, quando bruciava loro incenso, si ornava di orecchini e di gioielli e andava dietro ai suoi amanti, ma dimenticava me», dice l'Eterno.

14 T herefore, behold, I will allure her and bring her into the wilderness, and I will speak tenderly and to her heart.

«Perciò, ecco, io l'attirerò, la condurrò nel deserto e parlerò al suo cuore.

15 T here I will give her her vineyards and make the Valley of Achor to be for her a door of hope and expectation. And she shall sing there and respond as in the days of her youth and as at the time when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

Allora le darò le sue vigne e la valle di Akor come porta di speranza; là ella canterà come ai giorni della sua giovinezza, come quando uscí fuori dal paese d'Egitto.

16 A nd it shall be in that day, says the Lord, that you will call Me Ishi, and you shall no more call Me Baali.

In quel giorno avverrà, dice l'Eterno, che tu mi chiamerai: "Marito mio", e non mi chiamerai piú: "Mio Baal".

17 F or I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be mentioned or seriously remembered by their name.

Toglierò dalla sua bocca i nomi dei Baal e non si ricorderanno piú del loro nome.

18 A nd in that day will I make a covenant for Israel with the living creatures of the open country and with the birds of the heavens and with the creeping things of the ground. And I will break the bow and the sword and conflict out of the land and will make you lie down safely.

In quel giorno io farò per loro un patto con le bestie dei campi, con gli uccelli del cielo e i rettili della terra. Spezzerò l'arco, la spada e la guerra eliminandoli dalla terra e li farò riposare al sicuro.

19 A nd I will betroth you to Me forever; yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in steadfast love, and in mercy.

Ti fidanzerò a me per l'eternità; sí, ti fidanzerò a me in giustizia, in equità, in benignità e in compassioni.

20 I will even betroth you to Me in stability and in faithfulness, and you shall know (recognize, be acquainted with, appreciate, give heed to, and cherish) the Lord.

Ti fidanzerò a me in fedeltà, e tu conoscerai l'Eterno.

21 A nd in that day I will respond, says the Lord; I will respond to the heavens, and they shall respond to the earth,

In quel giorno avverrà che io risponderò», dice l'Eterno. «Risponderò al cielo ed esso risponderà alla terra;

22 A nd the earth shall respond to the grain and the wine and the oil, and these shall respond to Jezreel.

e la terra risponderà con il grano, il mosto e l'olio, e questi risponderanno a Jezreel.

23 A nd I will sow her for Myself anew in the land, and I will have love, pity, and mercy for her who had not obtained love, pity, and mercy; and I will say to those who were not My people, You are My people, and they shall say, You are my God!

Io la seminerò per me sulla terra e avrò compassione di Lo-ruhamah; e dirò a Lo-ammi: "Tu sei il popolo mio" ed egli mi risponderà: "Tu sei i mio DIO"».
