1 W ait and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

«O voi tutti che siete assetati, venite alle acque, e voi che non avete denaro venite, comprate e mangiate! Venite, comprate senza denaro e senza pagare vino e latte!

2 W hy do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

Perché spendete denaro per ciò che non è pane e il frutto delle vostre fatiche per ciò che non sazia? Ascoltatemi attentamente e mangerete ciò che è buono, e l'anima vostra gusterà cibi succulenti.

3 I ncline your ear and come to Me; hear, and your soul will revive; and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with you, even the sure mercy (kindness, goodwill, and compassion) promised to David.

Porgete l'orecchio e venite a me, ascoltate e la vostra anima vivrà; e io stabilirò con voi un patto eterno, secondo le grazie stabili promesse a Davide.

4 B ehold, I have appointed him (Him) to be a witness to the nations, a prince (Prince) and commander (Commander) to the peoples.

Ecco, io l'ho dato come testimone ai popoli, come principe e comandante dei popoli.

5 B ehold, you shall call nations that you know not, and nations that do not know you shall run to you because of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel, for He has glorified you.

Ecco, tu chiamerai una nazione che non conosci, e una nazione che non ti conosce accorrerà a te, a motivo dell'Eterno, il tuo DIO, e del Santo d'Israele, perché egli ti ha glorificato».

6 S eek, inquire for, and require the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.

Cercate l'Eterno mentre lo si può trovare, invocatelo mentre è vicino.

7 L et the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have love, pity, and mercy for him, and to our God, for He will multiply to him His abundant pardon.

Lasci l'empio la sua via e l'uomo iniquo i suoi pensieri, e ritorni all'Eterno che avrà compassione di lui, e al nostro DIO che perdona largamente.

8 F or My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord.

«Poiché i miei pensieri non sono i vostri pensieri né le vostre vie sono le mie vie», dice l'Eterno.

9 F or as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

«Come i cieli sono piú alti della terra, cosí le mie vie sono piú alte delle vostre vie e i miei pensieri piú alti dei vostri pensieri.

10 F or as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

Come infatti la pioggia e la neve scendono dal cielo e non vi ritornano senza avere annaffiato la terra, senza averla fecondata e fatta germogliare, in modo da dare il seme al seminatore e pane da mangiare,

11 S o shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

cosí sarà la mia parola, uscita dalla mia bocca: essa non ritornerà a me a vuoto, senza avere compiuto ciò che desidero e realizzato pienamente ciò per cui l'ho mandata.

12 F or you shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Poiché voi partirete con gioia e sarete ricondotti in pace. I monti e i colli proromperanno in grida di gioia davanti a voi e tutti gli alberi della campagna batteranno le mani.

13 I nstead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; and it shall be to the Lord for a name of renown, for an everlasting sign and memorial, which shall not be cut off.

Al posto delle spine crescerà il cipresso, al posto delle ortiche crescerà il mirto; sarà per l'Eterno un titolo di gloria, un segno perpetuo che non sarà distrutto».
