1 F or behold, in those days and at that time when I shall reverse the captivity and restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,

«Poiché ecco, in quei giorni e in quel tempo, quando farò ritornare dalla cattività quei di Giuda e di Gerusalemme.

2 I will gather all nations and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and there will I deal with and execute judgment upon them for My people and of My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and they have divided My land.

radunerò tutte le nazioni e le farò scendere nella valle di Giosafat, e là eseguirò il mio giudizio su di loro, per Israele, mio popolo e mia eredità, che hanno disperso fra le nazioni, dividendosi quindi il mio paese.

3 A nd they have cast lots for My people, and have given a boy for a harlot and have sold a girl for juice and have drunk it.

Hanno gettato la sorte sul mio popolo, hanno dato un fanciullo in cambio di una prostituta e hanno venduto una fanciulla in cambio di vino, perché potessero bere.

4 Y es, and what are you to Me, O Tyre and Sidon and all the divisions of Philistia? Will you pay Me back for something? Even if you pay Me back, swiftly and speedily I will return your deed upon your own head,

Inoltre che cosa siete voi per me Tiro e Sidone, e voi tutte le regioni della Filistia? Volete forse ripagarmi per qualcosa che ho fatto? Ma se mi ripagate rapidamente e senza indugio farò ricadere ciò che avete fatto sul vostro capo.

5 B ecause you have taken My silver and My gold and have carried into your temples and palaces My precious treasures,

Perché voi avete preso il mio argento e il mio oro e avete portato nei vostri templi il meglio delle mie cose preziose

6 A nd have sold the children of Judah and the children of Jerusalem to the sons of the Grecians, that you may remove them far from their border.

e avete venduto i figli di Giuda e i figli di Gerusalemme ai figli dei Javaniti, per allontanarli dal loro paese.

7 B ehold, I will stir them up out of the place to which you have sold them and will return your deed upon your own head.

Ecco, io li farò risvegliare dal luogo dove li avete venduti e farò ricadere sul vostro capo ciò che avete fatto.

8 I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, to a nation far off, for the Lord has spoken it.

Venderò i vostri figli e le vostre figlie nelle mani dei figli di Giuda che li venderanno ai Sabei, a una nazione lontana, perché l'Eterno ha parlato».

9 P roclaim this among the nations: Prepare war! Stir up the mighty men! Let all the men of war draw near, let them come up.

Proclamate questo fra le nazioni: «preparate la guerra, fate risvegliare gli uomini valorosi, si avvicinino, salgano tutti gli uomini di guerra!

10 B eat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, I am strong!

Forgiate spade con i vostri vomeri e lance con le vostre falci. Il debole dica: "Sono forte!".

11 H asten and come, all you nations round about, and assemble yourselves; there You, O Lord, will bring down Your mighty ones (Your warriors).

Affrettatevi e venite, nazioni tutte d'attorno, e radunatevi! Là, o Eterno, fa' scendere i tuoi uomini valorosi!

12 L et the nations bestir themselves and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat, for there will I sit to judge all the nations round about.

«Si destino e salgano le nazioni alla valle di Giosafat, perché là io siederò a giudicare tutte le nazioni d'intorno.

13 P ut in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe; come, get down and tread the grapes, for the winepress is full; the vats overflow, for the wickedness is great.

Mettete mano alla falce perché la messe è matura. Venite, scendete, perché il torchio è pieno, i tini traboccano, poiché grande è la loro malvagità».

14 M ultitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

Moltitudini, moltitudini nella Valle della decisione. Poiché il giorno dell'Eterno è vicino, nella Valle della decisione».

15 T he sun and the moon are darkened and the stars withdraw their shining.

Il sole e la luna si oscurano e le stelle ritirano il loro splendore.

16 T he Lord will thunder and roar from Zion and utter His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth shall shake; but the Lord will be a refuge for His people and a stronghold to the children of Israel.

L'Eterno ruggirà da Sion e farà sentire la sua voce da Gerusalemme, tanto che i cieli e la terra tremeranno. Ma l'Eterno sarà un rifugio per il suo popolo e una fortezza per i figli d'Israele.

17 S o shall you know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord your God, dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain. Then shall Jerusalem be holy, and strangers and foreigners shall no more pass through it.

«Allora voi riconoscerete che io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, che dimora in Sion, mio monte santo. Cosí Gerusalemme sarà santa e gli stranieri non vi passeranno piú».

18 A nd in that day, the mountains shall drip with fresh juice and the hills shall flow with milk; and all the brooks and riverbeds of Judah shall flow with water, and a fountain shall come forth from the house of the Lord and shall water the Valley of Shittim.

In quel giorno avverrà che i monti stilleranno mosto, il latte scorrerà dai colli e l'acqua scorrerà in tutti i ruscelli di Giuda. Dalla casa dell'Eterno sgorgherà una fonte, che irrigherà la valle di Scittim.

19 E gypt shall be a desolation and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness for their violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

«L'Egitto diventerà una desolazione e Edom un deserto desolato per la violenza contro i figli di Giuda, perché hanno versato sangue innocente nel loro paese.

20 B ut Judah shall remain and be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

Ma Giuda rimarrà per sempre, e Gerusalemme di generazione in generazione.

21 A nd I will cleanse and hold as innocent their blood and avenge it, blood which I have not cleansed, held innocent, and avenged, for the Lord dwells in Zion.

Li purificherò dal loro sangue versato, di cui non li avevo purificati, e l'Eterno dimorerà in Sion».
