1 T hen I heard a mighty voice from the temple sanctuary saying to the seven angels, Go and empty out on the earth the seven bowls of God’s wrath and indignation.

Poi udii una gran voce dal tempio che diceva ai sette angeli: «Andate e versate sulla terra le coppe dell'ira di Dio».

2 S o the first went and emptied his bowl on the earth, and foul and painful ulcers (sores) came on the people who were marked with the stamp of the beast and who did homage to his image.

Il primo andò e versò la sua coppa sulla terra, e un'ulcera maligna e dolorosa colpí gli uomini che avevano il marchio della bestia e quelli che adoravano la sua immagine.

3 T he second emptied his bowl into the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a corpse, and every living thing that was in the sea perished.

Poi il secondo angelo versò la sua coppa sul mare, ed esso divenne sangue simile a quello di un morto e ogni essere vivente nel mare morí.

4 T hen the third emptied out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they turned into (became) blood.

Poi il terzo angelo versò la sua coppa sui fiumi e sulle sorgenti delle acque, ed esse diventarono sangue.

5 A nd I also heard the angel of the waters say, Righteous (just) are You in these Your decisions and judgments, You Who are and were, O Holy One!

E udii l'angelo delle acque, che diceva: «Tu sei giusto, o Signore, che sei e che eri e che hai da venire, il Santo, per aver giudicato queste cose.

6 B ecause they have poured out the blood of Your people (the saints) and the prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. Such is their due!

Essi hanno sparso il sangue dei santi e dei profeti, e tu hai dato loro da bere del sangue, perché è la ricompensa che essi meritano».

7 A nd the altar I heard cry, Yes, Lord God the Omnipotent, Your judgments (sentences, decisions) are true and just and righteous!

E udii un altro dall'altare che diceva: «Sí, o Signore, Dio onnipotente, i tuoi giudizi sono veraci e giusti»,

8 T hen the fourth emptied out his bowl upon the sun, and it was permitted to burn (scorch) humanity with heat (fire).

Poi il quarto angelo versò la sua coppa sul sole; e gli fu dato di bruciare gli uomini col fuoco.

9 P eople were severely burned (scorched) by the fiery heat, and they reviled and blasphemed the name of God, Who has control of these plagues, and they did not repent of their sins to give Him glory.

E gli uomini furono bruciati dal grande calore e bestemmiarono il nome di Dio che ha potestà su queste piaghe, e non si ravvidero per dargli gloria.

10 T hen the fifth emptied his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was in darkness; and people gnawed their tongues for the torment

Poi il quinto angelo versò la sua coppa sul trono della bestia e il suo regno fu coperto di tenebre, e gli uomini si mordevano la lingua per il dolore,

11 A nd blasphemed the God of heaven because of their anguish and their ulcers (sores), and they did not deplore their wicked deeds or repent.

e bestemmiarono il Dio del cielo, a causa delle loro sofferenze e delle loro ulcere, ma non si ravvidero dalle loro opere.

12 T hen the sixth emptied his bowl on the mighty river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to make ready a road for the kings of the east (from the rising sun).

Poi il sesto angelo versò la sua coppa sul grande fiume Eufrate e la sua acqua si prosciugò per preparare la via dei re che vengono dal sol levante.

13 A nd I saw three loathsome spirits like frogs, from the mouth of the dragon and from the mouth of the beast and from the mouth of the false prophet.

E vidi uscire dalla bocca del dragone dalla bocca della bestia e dalla bocca del falso profeta tre spiriti immondi, simili a rane.

14 F or really they are the spirits of demons that perform signs (wonders, miracles). And they go forth to the rulers and leaders all over the world, to gather them together for war on the great day of God the Almighty.

Essi infatti sono spiriti di demoni che fanno prodigi e vanno dai re della terra e del mondo intero, per radunarli per la guerra del gran giorno di Dio Onnipotente.

15 B ehold, I am going to come like a thief! Blessed (happy, to be envied) is he who stays awake (alert) and who guards his clothes, so that he may not be naked and seen exposed!

«Ecco, io vengo come un ladro; beato chi veglia e custodisce le sue vesti per non andare nudo e non lasciar cosí vedere la sua vergogna».

16 A nd they gathered them together at the place which in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

E li radunarono in un luogo in ebraico detto: «Armagheddon».

17 T hen the seventh emptied out his bowl into the air, and a mighty voice came out of the sanctuary of heaven from the throne, saying, It is done!

Poi il settimo angelo versò la sua coppa nell'aria, e dal tempio del cielo, dal trono, uscí una voce che diceva: «E' fatto»

18 A nd there followed lightning flashes, loud rumblings, peals of thunder, and a tremendous earthquake; nothing like it has ever occurred since men dwelt on the earth, so severe and far-reaching was that earthquake.

Allora ci furono voci, tuoni e lampi, e ci fu un gran terremoto di tale forza ed estensione, di cui non ci fu mai l'eguale da quando gli uomini vivono sulla terra.

19 T he mighty city was broken into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And God kept in mind mighty Babylon, to make her drain the cup of His furious wrath and indignation.

La grande città fu divisa in tre parti e le città delle nazioni caddero, e Dio si ricordò di Babilonia la grande, per darle il calice del vino della sua furente ira.

20 A nd every island fled and no mountains could be found.

E ogni isola fuggí e i monti non furono piú trovati.

21 A nd great (excessively oppressive) hailstones, as heavy as a talent, of immense size, fell from the sky on the people; and men blasphemed God for the plague of the hail, so very great was of that plague.

E cadde dal cielo sugli uomini una grossa grandine dal peso di un talento, e gli uomini bestemmiarono Dio per la piaga della grandine, perché era una piaga veramente grande.
