1 T he Lord said to Moses,

L'Eterno parlò ancora a Mosè, dicendo:

2 “ Make two silver horns of beaten silver. Use them for calling the people together and for having the people move on.

«Fatti due trombe d'argento; le farai d'argento battuto; le userai per convocare l'assemblea e per far muovere gli accampamenti.

3 W hen both horns sound, all the people will gather in front of you at the door of the meeting tent.

Al suono di entrambe tutta l'assemblea si radunerà presso di te, all'ingresso della tenda di convegno.

4 I f only one horn sounds, then the leaders, the heads of the families of Israel, will gather in front of you.

Al suono di una sola tromba, i principi, i capi delle divisioni d'Israele si raduneranno presso di te.

5 W hen you blow the horn to tell of danger, the people whose tents are on the east side will leave.

Quando suonerete l'allarme la prima volta, i campi che sono a est si metteranno in cammino.

6 W hen you blow the horn to tell of danger a second time, the people whose tents are on the south side will leave. A horn telling of danger will be blown when they are to move on.

Quando suonerete l'allarme una seconda volta, i campi che si trovano a sud si metteranno in cammino; si dovrà suonare l'allarme perché si mettano in cammino.

7 B ut when the people are to be gathered together, you will blow the horn without the sound of danger.

Quando si deve radunare l'assemblea suonerete la tromba, ma non suonerete l'allarme.

8 A aron’s sons, the religious leaders, will blow the horns. This will be a Law for all your people forever.

Suoneranno le trombe i figli di Aaronne, i sacerdoti, sarà uno statuto perpetuo per voi e per i vostri discendenti.

9 W hen you go to war in your land against those who fight you, then sound the horns to tell of war. That way you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and be saved from those who hate you.

Quando nel vostro paese andrete alla guerra contro il nemico che vi opprime suonerete l'allarme con le trombe; così sarete ricordati davanti all'Eterno, il vostro DIO, e sarete liberati dai vostri nemici.

10 O n the days you are glad and at the time of your special suppers and on the first days of your months, blow the horns. Blow the horns over your burnt gifts and over your peace gifts. Then you will be remembered before your God. I am the Lord your God.” The Children of Israel Leave Sinai

Così pure nei vostri giorni di gioia, nelle vostre feste stabilite e al principio dei vostri mesi, suonerete le trombe in occasione dei vostri olocausti e dei vostri sacrifici di ringraziamento; ed esse vi faranno ricordare davanti al vostro DIO. lo sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO».

11 O n the twentieth day of the second month in the second year, the cloud was lifted from over the meeting tent of the Law.

Or avvenne che nel secondo anno, nel secondo mese, il ventesimo giorno del mese, la nuvola si alzò sopra il tabernacolo della testimonianza.

12 T he people of Israel moved on from the Desert of Sinai. Then the cloud came down and rested in the desert of Paran.

E i figli d'Israele si misero in cammino, abbandonando il deserto del Sinai; poi la nuvola si fermò ne deserto di Paran.

13 S o they moved for the first time as the Lord had told them through Moses.

Così si misero in cammino la prima volta, secondo l'ordine dell'Eterno dato per mezzo di Mosè.

14 T he flag of the people of Judah left first, by their armies. Amminadab’s son Nahshon was the head of their army.

Per prima si mosse la bandiera del campo dei figli di Giuda, diviso secondo le loro schiere. Sopra la divisione di Giuda comandava Nahshon, figlio di Amminadab.

15 Z uar’s son Nethanel was the head of the men of Issachar.

Nethaneel, figlio di Tsuar, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli d'Issacar,

16 A nd Helon’s son Eliab was the head of the men of Zebulun.

mentre Eliab, figlio di Helon comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Zabulon.

17 W hen the meeting tent was taken down, the sons of Gershon and Merari left carrying it.

Poi fu smontato il tabernacolo e i figli di Ghershon e i figli di Merari si misero in cammino, portando il tabernacolo.

18 N ext the flag of the people of Reuben left, by their armies. Shedeur’s son Elizur was the head over this army.

19 Z urishaddai’s son Shelumiel was the head of the men of Simeon.

21 T hen the Kohathites left, carrying the holy objects. The meeting tent was set up before they came to the next place.

22 N ext the flag of the people of Ephraim left, by their armies. Ammihud’s son Elishama was the head over this army.

Si mosse quindi la bandiera del campo dei figli di Efraim, diviso secondo le sue schiere. Sopra la divisione di Efraim comandava Elishama, figlio di Ammihud.

23 P edahzur’s son Gamaliel was the head of the men of Manasseh.

24 G ideoni’s son Abidan was the head of the men of Benjamin.

25 T hen the flag of the people of Dan left, by their armies. They followed behind all the people of Israel, to watch for danger. Ammishaddai’s son Ahiezer was the head over this army.

Si mosse quindi la bandiera del campo dei figli di Dan, diviso secondo le sue schiere, formando la retroguardia di tutti i campi. Sopra la divisione di Dan comandava Ahiezer, figlio di Ammishaddai.

26 O chran’s son Pagiel was the head of the men of Asher.

27 A nd Enan’s son Ahira was the head of the men of Naphtali.

mentre Ahira, figlio di Enan, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Neftali.

28 T his was how the people of Israel moved on by their armies.

Questo era l'ordine di marcia dei figli d'Israele, secondo le loro divisioni. Così si misero in cammino.

29 T hen Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are going to the place the Lord said He will give to us. Come with us and we will do you good. For the Lord has promised good to Israel.”

Or Mosè disse a Hobab, figlio di Reuel il Madianita, suocero di Mosè: «Noi ci mettiamo in viaggio verso il luogo del quale l'Eterno ha detto: "Io ve lo darò". Vieni con noi e ti faremo del bene, perché l'Eterno ha promesso buone cose ad Israele».

30 B ut Hobab said to him, “I will not come. I will go to my own land and family.”

Hobab gli rispose: «Io non verrò, ma ritornerò al mio paese e dai miei parenti».

31 M oses said, “I beg you, do not leave us. For you know where we should stay in the desert. You will be like eyes for us.

Allora Mosè disse: «Deh, non ci lasciare, poiché tu sai dove dobbiamo accamparci nel deserto e tu sarai come gli occhi per noi.

32 I f you go with us, we will do for you whatever good the Lord does for us.”

Se vieni con noi, qualunque bene l'Eterno farà a noi, noi lo faremo a te».

33 S o they traveled for three days from the mountain of the Lord with the special box with the Law of the Lord in front of them looking for a place for them to rest.

Così partirono dal monte dell'Eterno e fecero tre giorni di cammino; e l'arca del patto dell'Eterno andò davanti a loro per un cammino di tre giorni, per cercare un luogo di riposo per loro.

34 T he cloud of the Lord was over them during the day, when they moved on.

E la nuvola dell'Eterno era sopra di loro durante il giorno, quando partivano dall'accampamento.

35 W hen the special box of the Lord moved on, Moses said, “Rise up, O Lord! Let those who hate You be divided. Let those who hate You run away before You.”

Quando l'arca partiva, Mosè diceva: «Levati, o Eterno, siano dispersi i tuoi nemici e fuggano davanti a te quelli che ti odiano!».

36 A nd when it rested, he said, “Return, O Lord, to the many thousands of Israel.”

E quando si fermava, diceva: «Torna, o Eterno, alle miriadi di migliaia d'Israele!».
