1 I f there is someone whose faith is weak, be kind and receive him. Do not argue about what he thinks.

Or accogliete chi è debole nella fede, ma non per giudicare le sue opinioni.

2 O ne man believes he may eat everything. Another man with weak faith eats only vegetables.

L'uno crede di poter mangiare d'ogni cosa, mentre l'altro, che è debole, mangia solo legumi.

3 T he man who eats everything should not think he is better than the one who eats only vegetables. The man who eats only vegetables should not say the other man is wrong, because God has received him.

Colui che mangia non disprezzi colui che non mangia, e colui che non mangia non giudichi colui che mangia, poiché Dio lo ha accettato.

4 W ho are you to tell another person’s servant if he is right or wrong? It is to his owner that he does good or bad. The Lord is able to help him.

Chi sei tu che giudichi il domestico altrui? Stia egli in piedi o cada, ciò riguarda il suo proprio signore, ma sarà mantenuto saldo, perché Dio è capace di tenerlo in piedi.

5 O ne man thinks one day is more important than another. Another man thinks every day is the same. Every man must be sure in his own mind.

L'uno stima un giorno piú dell'altro, e l'altro stima tutti i giorni uguali; ciascuno sia pienamente convinto nella sua mente.

6 T he man who worships on a special day does it to honor the Lord. The man who eats meat does it to honor the Lord. He gives thanks to God for what he eats. The other man does not eat meat. In this way, he honors the Lord. He gives thanks to God also.

Chi ha riguardo al giorno, lo fa per il Signore; chi non ha alcun riguardo al giorno lo fa per il Signore; chi mangia lo fa per il Signore e rende grazie a Dio; e chi non mangia non mangia per il Signore e rende grazie a Dio.

7 N o one lives for himself alone. No one dies for himself alone.

Nessuno di noi infatti vive per se stesso, e neppure muore per se stesso,

8 I f we live, it is for the Lord. If we die, it is for the Lord. If we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

perché, se pure viviamo, viviamo per il Signore; e se moriamo, moriamo per il Signore, dunque sia che viviamo, sia che moriamo, siamo del Signore.

9 C hrist died and lived again. This is why He is the Lord of the living and of the dead.

Poiché a questo fine Cristo è morto, è risuscitato ed è tornato in vita: per signoreggiare sui morti e sui vivi.

10 W hy do you try to say your Christian brother is right or wrong? Why do you hate your Christian brother? We will all stand before God to be judged by Him.

Ora tu, perché giudichi il tuo fratello? O perché disprezzi il tuo fratello? Poiché tutti dobbiamo comparire davanti al tribunale di Cristo.

11 T he Holy Writings say, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before Me. And every tongue will say that I am God.”

Sta infatti scritto: «Come io vivo, dice il Signore, ogni ginocchio si piegherà davanti a me e ogni lingua darà gloria a Dio».

12 E veryone of us will give an answer to God about himself.

Cosí dunque ognuno di noi renderà conto di se stesso a Dio.

13 S o you should stop saying that you think other people are wrong. Instead, decide to live so that your Christian brother will not have a reason to trip or fall into sin because of you.

Perciò non giudichiamo piú gli uni gli altri ma piuttosto giudicate questo: di non porre intoppo o scandalo al fratello.

14 C hrist has made me know that everything in itself is clean. But if a person thinks something is not clean, then to him it is not clean.

Io so e sono persuaso nel Signore Gesú, che nessuna cosa è immonda in se stessa, ma chi stima qualche cosa immonda, per lui è immonda.

15 I f your Christian brother is hurt because of some foods you eat, then you are no longer living by love. Do not destroy the man for whom Christ died by the food you eat.

Ma se tuo fratello è contristato a motivo di un cibo, tu non cammini piú secondo amore; non far perire col tuo cibo colui per il quale Cristo è morto.

16 D o not let what is good for you be talked about as bad.

Perciò quel che per voi è bene non diventi motivo di biasimo

17 F or the holy nation of God is not food and drink. It is being right with God. It is peace and joy given by the Holy Spirit.

poiché il regno di Dio non è mangiare e bere, ma giustizia, pace e gioia nello Spirito Santo.

18 I f you follow Christ in these things, God will be happy with you. Men will think well of you also.

Infatti chi serve Cristo in queste cose è gradito a Dio e approvato dagli uomini.

19 W ork for the things that make peace and help each other become stronger Christians.

Perseguiamo dunque le cose che contribuiscono alla pace e alla edificazione reciproca.

20 D o not destroy what God has done just because of some food. All food is good to eat. But it is wrong to eat anything that will make someone fall into sin.

Non distruggere l'opera di Dio per il cibo; certo, tutte le cose sono pure, ma è sbagliato quando uno mangia qualcosa che è occasione di peccato.

21 D o not eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it would make your Christian brother fall into sin.

E' bene non mangiare carne, né bere vino, né fare cosa alcuna che porti tuo fratello a inciampare o ad essere scandalizzato o essere indebolito.

22 K eep the faith you have between yourself and God. A man is happy if he knows he is doing right.

Hai tu fede? Tienila per te stesso davanti a Dio; beato chi non condanna se stesso in ciò che approva.

23 B ut if he has doubts about the food he eats, God says he is guilty when he eats it. It is because he is eating without faith. Anything that is not done in faith is sin.

Ma colui che sta in dubbio, se mangia è condannato, perché non mangia con fede; or tutto ciò che non viene da fede è peccato.
