1 D omnul i-a vorbit lui Moise în pustia Sinai, în Cortul Întâlnirii, în prima zi a celei de-a doua luni, în al doilea an după ce au ieşit din ţara Egiptului. El i-a zis:

Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 „ Faceţi numărătoarea întregii adunări a israeliţilor, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscriind pe fiecare bărbat în parte după numele său,

“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one;

3 p e toţi aceia din Israel de la douăzeci de ani în sus, care sunt în stare să meargă la război. Tu şi Aaron să-i număraţi potrivit oştirilor lor.

from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their divisions.

4 S ă fie cu voi câte un bărbat din fiecare seminţie, fiecare – căpetenia familiei lui.

With you there shall be a man of every tribe; everyone head of his fathers’ house.

5 A cestea sunt numele bărbaţilor care vor trebui să fie împreună cu voi: din Ruben: Eliţur, fiul lui Şedeur,

These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6 d in Simeon: Şelumiel, fiul lui Ţurişadai;

Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7 d in Iuda: Nahşon, fiul lui Aminadab;

Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

8 d in Isahar: Netanel, fiul lui Ţuar;

Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

9 d in Zabulon: Eliab, fiul lui Helon;

Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.

10 d in fiii lui Iosif – din Efraim: Elişama, fiul lui Amihud; din Manase: Gamaliel, fiul lui Pedahţur;

Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

11 d in Beniamin: Abidan, fiul lui Ghidoni;

Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.

12 d in Dan: Ahiezer, fiul lui Amişadai;

Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

13 d in Aşer: Paghiel, fiul lui Ocran;

Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.

14 d in Gad: Eliasaf, fiul lui Deuel;

Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

15 d in Neftali: Ahira, fiul lui Enan.“

Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.”

16 A ceştia au fost cei aleşi din adunare, conducătorii seminţiilor strămoşilor lor, căpeteniile miilor lui Israel.

These are those who were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

17 M oise şi Aaron i-au luat pe aceşti bărbaţi, care au fost desemnaţi

Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name.

18 ş i, în prima zi a celei de-a doua luni, au convocat întreaga adunare. Poporul s-a înscris pe clanuri şi familii, înscriind numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, pe fiecare în parte,

They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one.

19 a şa cum i-a poruncit Domnul lui Moise. Aşa i-a numărat el în pustia Sinai.

As Yahweh commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 U rmaşii fiilor lui Ruben, întâiul născut al lui Israel, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele fiecărui bărbat de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

The children of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

21 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Ruben – au fost patruzeci şi şase de mii cinci sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand five hundred.

22 U rmaşii fiilor lui Simeon, după clanurile şi familiile lor, toţi aceia care au fost înscrişi după numele fiecărui bărbat de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those who were numbered of it, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

23 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Simeon – au fost cincizeci şi nouă de mii trei sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

24 U rmaşii fiilor lui Gad, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

25 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Gad – au fost patruzeci şi cinci de mii şase sute cincizeci.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.

26 U rmaşii fiilor lui Iuda, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

27 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Iuda – au fost şaptezeci şi patru de mii şase sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.

28 U rmaşii fiilor lui Isahar, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

29 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Isahar – au fost cincizeci şi patru de mii patru sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand four hundred.

30 U rmaşii fiilor lui Zabulon, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

31 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Zabulon – au fost cincizeci şi şapte de mii patru sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

32 F iii lui Iosif, mai exact urmaşii fiilor lui Efraim, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Joseph, of the children of Ephraim, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

33 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Efraim – au fost patruzeci de mii cinci sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand five hundred.

34 U rmaşii fiilor lui Manase, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

35 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Manase – au fost treizeci şi două de mii două sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.

36 U rmaşii fiilor lui Beniamin, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

37 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Beniamin – au fost treizeci şi cinci de mii patru sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand four hundred.

38 U rmaşii fiilor lui Dan, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

39 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Dan – au fost şaizeci şi două de mii şapte sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

40 U rmaşii fiilor lui Aşer, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

41 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Aşer – au fost patruzeci şi unu de mii cinci sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand five hundred.

42 U rmaşii fiilor lui Neftali, după clanurile şi familiile lor, înscrişi după numele celor de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia care erau în stare să meargă la război –

Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

43 c ei număraţi din seminţia lui Neftali – au fost cincizeci şi trei de mii patru sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.

44 A ceştia sunt cei care au fost număraţi, pe care Moise şi Aaron i-au numărat cu ajutorul conducătorilor lui Israel, cei doisprezece oameni, fiecare reprezentând propria lui familie.

These are those who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: they were each one for his fathers’ house.

45 D eci toţi israeliţii care au fost număraţi după familiile lor, de la douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia din Israel, care erau în stare să meargă la război,

So all those who were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war in Israel;

46 t oţi cei ieşiţi la numărătoare au fost şase sute trei mii cinci sute cincizeci.

even all those who were numbered were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

47 L eviţii, după seminţia strămoşilor lor, n-au fost număraţi împreună cu ei. Deosebirea leviţilor

But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

48 D omnul îi zisese lui Moise:

For Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

49 „ Să nu numeri seminţia lui Levi şi să nu îi ţii socoteala în mijlocul celorlalţi israeliţi;

“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, neither shall you take a census of them among the children of Israel;

50 d ă în grija leviţilor Tabernaculul Mărturiei, toate uneltele lui şi tot ce ţine de el; ei trebuie să poarte Tabernaculul şi toate uneltele lui, să aibă grijă de el şi să-şi facă tabăra în jurul lui.

but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle, and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it.

51 C ând Tabernaculul urmează să fie mutat, leviţii trebuie să-l strângă, iar când Tabernaculul urmează să fie întins, leviţii să-l înalţe. Străinul care se va apropia să fie omorât.

When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

52 C eilalţi israeliţi să se aşeze fiecare în tabăra lui, fiecare bărbat sub steagul său, potrivit oştirilor lor.

The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their divisions.

53 D ar leviţii să-şi facă tabăra în jurul Tabernaculului Mărturiei, ca să nu izbucnească mânia Mea împotriva adunării israeliţilor; leviţii să aibă în pază Tabernaculul Mărturiei.“

But the Levites shall encamp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.”

54 I sraeliţii au făcut întocmai; ei au făcut aşa cum Domnul i-a poruncit lui Moise.

Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so they did.
