1 A ceştia au fost israeliţii după numărul lor, cu căpeteniile peste familii, căpeteniile peste mii şi peste sute şi dregătorii care slujeau regelui în orice lucru ce ţinea de cetele care intrau şi care ieşeau din slujbă lună de lună, în fiecare lună a anului; fiecare ceată avea douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

Now the children of Israel after their number, the heads of fathers’ households and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king, in any matter of the divisions which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year—of every division were twenty-four thousand.

2 Î n fruntea primei cete, pentru luna întâi, era Iaşobeam, fiul lui Zabdiel, ceata lui având douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

Over the first division for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

3 E l era dintre urmaşii lui Pereţ şi era căpetenia tuturor conducătorilor oştirii în luna întâi.

He was of the children of Perez, the chief of all the captains of the army for the first month.

4 Î n fruntea cetei pentru luna a doua, era ahohitul Dodai; ceata lui îl avea drept conducător pe Miklot; erau douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni în ceata lui.

Over the division of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and his division; and Mikloth the ruler: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

5 A treia căpetenie militară, pentru luna a treia, era Benaia, fiul preotului Iehoiada. El era căpetenia cetei sale de douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

The third captain of the army for the third month was Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada the priest, chief: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

6 B enaia acesta era unul dintre cei treizeci de viteji ai lui David şi căpetenie a acestora. La conducerea cetei sale era fiul său Amizabad.

This is that Benaiah who was the mighty man of the thirty, and over the thirty: and of his division was Ammizabad his son.

7 A l patrulea, pentru luna a patra, era Asael, fratele lui Ioab, şi după el Zebadia, fiul lui. Şi ceata lui avea douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

8 A cincea căpetenie, pentru luna a cincea, era izrahitul Şamhut, ceata lui având douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

The fifth captain for this fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

9 A l şaselea, pentru luna a şasea, era Ira, fiul lui Icheş din Tekoa, ceata lui având douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

10 A l şaptelea, pentru luna a şaptea, era pelonitul Heleţ, unul dintre urmaşii lui Efraim, ceata lui având douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

11 A l optulea, pentru luna a opta, era huşatitul Sibecai, dintre zerahiţi, ceata lui având douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

12 A l nouălea, pentru luna a noua, era anatotitul Abiezer, dintre beniamiţi, ceata lui având douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

13 A l zecelea, pentru luna a zecea, era netofatitul Maharai, dintre zerahiţi, ceata lui având douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zerahites: and in his division were Twenty-four thousand.

14 A l unsprezecelea, pentru luna a unsprezecea, era piratonitul Benaia, unul dintre urmaşii lui Efraim, ceata lui având douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

15 A l doisprezecelea, pentru luna a douăsprezecea, era netofatitul Heldai, un urmaş al lui Otniel, ceata lui având tot douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni. Căpeteniile seminţiilor lui Israel

The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

16 C ăpeteniile seminţiilor lui Israel erau următorii: conducătorul rubeniţilor era Eliezer, fiul lui Zicri; al simeoniţilor – Şefatia, fiul lui Maaca;

Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri the ruler; of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah;

17 a l leviţilor – Haşabia, fiul lui Chemuel, iar al urmaşilor lui Aaron – Ţadok;

of Levi, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel; of Aaron, Zadok;

18 a l lui Iuda – Elihu, unul dintre fraţii lui David; al lui Isahar – Omri, fiul lui Mihail;

of Judah, Elihu, one of the brothers of David; of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael;

19 a l lui Zabulon – Işmaia, fiul lui Obadia; al lui Neftali – Ierimot, fiul lui Azriel;

of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah; of Naphtali, Jeremoth the son of Azriel;

of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah; of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner;

22 a l lui Dan – Azarel, fiul lui Ieroham. Acestea au fost căpeteniile seminţiilor lui Israel.

of Dan, Azarel the son of Jeroham. These were the captains of the tribes of Israel.

23 D avid nu a inclus în numărul lor pe cei în vârstă de douăzeci de ani sau mai puţin, pentru că Domnul promisese că va înmulţi pe Israel ca stelele cerului.

But David didn’t take the number of them from twenty years old and under, because Yahweh had said he would increase Israel like the stars of the sky.

24 I oab, fiul Ţeruiei, începuse numărătoarea, dar nu a terminat-o. Din cauza numărătorii izbucnise mânia împotriva lui Israel, iar rezultatul numărătorii nu a fost trecut în „Cronicile regelui David“. Funcţionarii regelui

Joab the son of Zeruiah began to take a census, but didn’t finish; and wrath came on Israel for this. The number wasn’t put into the account in the chronicles of king David.

25 A zmavet, fiul lui Adiel, era responsabil de vistieriile regelui; Ionatan, fiul lui Uzia, era responsabil de magaziile din ţară, din cetăţi, din sate şi din turnuri.

Over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the treasures in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah;

26 E zri, fiul lui Chelub, era responsabil de cei ce se ocupau cu munca câmpului, care lucrau pământul.

Over those who did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub;

27 Ş imei din Rama era responsabil de vii, iar Zabdi, şifmitul, – de cramele cu vin din vii.

and over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite; and over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite;

28 G hederitul Baal-Hanan era responsabil de livezile de măslini şi de sicomorii din zona deluroasă, iar Ioaş – de depozitele cu ulei.

and over the olive trees and the sycamore trees that were in the lowland was Baal Hanan the Gederite; and over the cellars of oil was Joash;

29 Ş itrai din Şaron era responsabil de vitele care păşteau în Şaron, iar Şafat, fiul lui Adlai, – de vitele din văi.

and over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite; and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai;

30 I smaelitul Obil era responsabil de cămile, iar meronotitul Iehdeia de măgăriţe.

and over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the donkeys was Jehdeiah the Meronothite; and over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite.

31 H agritul Iaziz era responsabil de turme. Toate acestea erau căpeteniile care aveau grijă de proprietăţile regelui David.

All these were the rulers of the property which was king David’s.

32 I onatan, unchiul lui David, era sfetnic, om cu discernământ şi scrib. Iehiel, fiul lui Hacmoni, avea grijă de fiii lui David.

Also Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of understanding, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons.

33 A hitofel era sfetnicul regelui; architul Huşai era prietenul regelui.

Ahithophel was the king’s counselor: and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.

34 D upă Ahitofel, au mai fost sfetnici: Iehoiada, fiul lui Benaia, şi Abiatar. Conducătorul oştirii regelui era Ioab.

After Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. Joab was the captain of the king’s army.
