1 A m zis: „Ascultaţi, căpetenii ale lui Iacov şi conducători ai casei lui Israel! N-ar trebui să cunoaşteţi dreptatea?

I said, “Please listen, you heads of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel: Isn’t it for you to know justice?

2 Ş i totuşi voi urâţi binele şi iubiţi răul, jupuiţi pielea de pe poporul Meu şi carnea de pe oasele lui,

You who hate the good, and love the evil; who tear off their skin, and their flesh from off their bones;

3 m âncaţi carnea poporului meu, jupuiţi pielea de pe el şi îi zdrobiţi oasele, îl ciopârţiţi asemenea cărnii din oală, asemenea cărnii din cazan.

who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them, and break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the cauldron.

4 A tunci când vor striga către Domnul, El nu le va răspunde; Îşi va ascunde faţa de ei în vremea aceea, pentru că au săvârşit fapte rele.“

Then they will cry to Yahweh, but he will not answer them. Yes, he will hide his face from them at that time, because they made their deeds evil.”

5 A şa vorbeşte Domnul: „Cât despre profeţii care Îmi duc în rătăcire poporul, aceştia, dacă au muşcat ceva cu dinţii, vestesc pacea, dar, dacă cineva nu le pune nimic în gură, se pregătesc de război împotriva lui.

Yahweh says concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; for those who feed their teeth, they proclaim, “Peace!” and whoever doesn’t provide for their mouths, they prepare war against him:

6 D e aceea, noaptea va veni peste voi, fără nici o vedenie, şi întunericul – fără nici o descoperire! Soarele va apune peste aceşti profeţi şi ziua se va întuneca peste ei.

“Therefore night is over you, with no vision, and it is dark to you, that you may not divine; and the sun will go down on the prophets, and the day will be black over them.

7 V ăzătorii vor fi făcuţi de ruşine, iar prezicătorii vor fi umiliţi. Îşi vor acoperi barba cu toţii, căci nu va fi răspuns de la Dumnezeu.“

The seers shall be disappointed, and the diviners confounded. Yes, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer from God.”

8 C ât despre mine, eu sunt plin de putere, plin de Duhul Domnului, de dreptate şi de tărie, ca să-i fac cunoscută lui Iacov nelegiuirea lui şi lui Israel – păcatul lui.

But as for me, I am full of power by Yahweh’s Spirit, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his disobedience, and to Israel his sin.

9 „ Ascultaţi aceasta, căpetenii ale casei lui Iacov şi conducători ai casei lui Israel, voi, care aveţi silă faţă de dreptate şi suciţi tot ce este drept,

Please listen to this, you heads of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice, and pervert all equity.

10 v oi, care zidiţi Sionul prin vărsare de sânge şi Ierusalimul – cu nedreptate!

They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.

11 C ăpeteniile lui judecă pe mită, preoţii lui dau învăţătură pentru plată, iar profeţii lui fac preziceri în schimbul argintului. Ei încă se sprijină şi pe Domnul, zicând: «Oare nu este Domnul în mijlocul nostru?! Nu va veni peste noi nici o nenorocire!»

Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money: yet they lean on Yahweh, and say, “Isn’t Yahweh among us? No disaster will come on us.”

12 D e aceea, din pricina voastră, Sionul va fi arat ca un ogor, Ierusalimul va deveni un morman de ruine, iar muntele Casei va deveni o înălţime acoperită cu păduri.“

Therefore Zion for your sake will be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of rubble, and the mountain of the temple like the high places of a forest.
