1 E zechia a devenit rege la vârsta de douăzeci şi cinci de ani şi a domnit la Ierusalim timp de douăzeci şi nouă de ani. Mama lui se numea Abia şi era fiica lui Zaharia.

Hezekiah began to reign when he was twenty-five years old; and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

2 E l a făcut ce este drept înaintea Domnului, tot aşa cum făcuse strămoşul său David.

He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, according to all that David his father had done.

3 Î n cel dintâi an al domniei sale, în prima lună, el a deschis porţile Casei Domnului şi le-a reparat.

He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of Yahweh’s house, and repaired them.

4 I -a adus pe preoţi şi pe leviţi, i-a strâns în Piaţa de Răsărit

He brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the wide place on the east,

5 ş i le-a zis: „Leviţilor, ascultaţi-mă! Sfinţiţi-vă, sfinţiţi Casa Domnului, Dumnezeul strămoşilor noştri, şi scoateţi necurăţiile din Lăcaş,

and said to them, “Listen to me, you Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, and sanctify Yahweh’s house, the God of your fathers, and carry out the filthiness out of the holy place.

6 c ăci înaintaşii noştri au fost necredincioşi Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru, au făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru, şi L-au părăsit. Ei şi-au întors faţa de la Lăcaşul Domnului şi I-au întors spatele.

For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in Yahweh our God’s sight, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of Yahweh, and turned their backs.

7 M ai mult, au închis porţile porticului, au stins candelele, nu au mai adus tămâie şi nu au mai adus în Lăcaş arderi de tot Dumnezeului lui Israel.

Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel.

8 D e aceea mânia Domnului este peste Iuda şi peste Ierusalim şi i-a făcut o pricină de groază, de spaimă şi de batjocură, aşa cum vedeţi şi voi înşivă.

Therefore Yahweh’s wrath was on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has delivered them to be tossed back and forth, to be an astonishment, and a hissing, as you see with your eyes.

9 D in cauza aceasta, părinţii noştri au căzut loviţi de sabie, iar fiii noştri, fiicele noastre şi soţiile noastre sunt în captivitate.

For, behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

10 A cum, am pe inimă să încheiem un legământ cu Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, pentru ca mânia Lui cea aprigă să se abată de la noi.

Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with Yahweh, the God of Israel, that his fierce anger may turn away from us.

11 F iii mei, nu fiţi nepăsători, căci pe voi v-a ales Domnul ca să-I staţi înainte pentru slujire, să-I slujiţi şi să-I aduceţi tămâie.“

My sons, don’t be negligent now; for Yahweh has chosen you to stand before him, to minister to him, and that you should be his ministers, and burn incense.”

12 A tunci s-au sculat următorii leviţi: dintre chehatiţi – Mahat, fiul lui Amasai, şi Ioel, fiul lui Azaria; dintre merariţi – Chiş, fiul lui Abdi, şi Azaria, fiul lui Iehalel-El; dintre gherşoniţi – Ioah, fiul lui Zima, şi Eden, fiul Ioah;

Then the Levites arose, Mahath, the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah;

13 d intre urmaşii lui Eliţafan – Şimri şi Ieiel; dintre urmaşii lui Asaf – Zaharia şi Matania;

and of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeuel; and of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah;

14 d intre urmaşii lui Heman – Iehiel şi Şimei, iar dintre urmaşii lui Iedutun – Şemaia şi Uziel.

and of the sons of Heman, Jehuel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel.

15 A ceştia şi-au adunat fraţii, s-au sfinţit şi au venit să cureţe Casa Domnului, după porunca regelui, potrivit cuvintelor Domnului.

They gathered their brothers, and sanctified themselves, and went in, according to the commandment of the king by Yahweh’s words, to cleanse Yahweh’s house.

16 P reoţii au intrat înăuntrul Casei Domnului ca s-o cureţe şi au scos afară, în curtea Templului Domnului, toate necurăţiile pe care le-au găsit în Casa Domnului. Leviţii le-au luat şi le-au dus afară, lângă uedul Chidron.

The priests went in to the inner part of Yahweh’s house, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in Yahweh’s temple into the court of Yahweh’s house. The Levites took it, to carry it out abroad to the brook Kidron.

17 A u început să-l sfinţească în prima zi a lunii întâi. În a opta zi a lunii au intrat în porticul Domnului. Au sfinţit apoi Casa Domnului timp de opt zile, astfel că în a şaisprezecea zi a lunii întâi şi-au terminat treaba.

Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of Yahweh; and they sanctified Yahweh’s house in eight days: and on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.

18 E i s-au dus înăuntru, la regele Ezechia şi au zis: „Am curăţit Casa Domnului în întregime, altarul arderilor de tot şi toate uneltele lui, masa pentru pâinea prezentării şi toate uneltele ei,

Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace, and said, “We have cleansed all Yahweh’s house, and the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and the table of show bread, with all its vessels.

19 p recum şi toate uneltele care au fost spurcate de regele Ahaz în timpul domniei lui, datorită necredincioşiei lui. Le-am refăcut, le-am sfinţit şi iată că acum sunt în faţa altarului Domnului. “

Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign threw away when he trespassed, have we prepared and sanctified; and behold, they are before the altar of Yahweh.”

20 R egele Ezechia s-a trezit dis-de-dimineaţă, a adunat conducătorii cetăţii şi s-au dus la Casa Domnului.

Then Hezekiah the king arose early, and gathered the princes of the city, and went up to Yahweh’s house.

21 A u luat cu ei şapte viţei, şapte berbeci, şapte miei şi şapte ţapi pentru a-i aduce ca jertfă pentru păcat, pentru regat, pentru Lăcaş şi pentru Iuda. Regele le-a zis urmaşilor lui Aaron, preoţii, să aducă arderile de tot pe altarul Domnului.

They brought seven bulls, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven male goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. He commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Yahweh.

22 A u înjunghiat vitele, iar preoţii au luat sângele şi au stropit altarul; apoi au înjunghiat berbecii şi au stropit cu sânge altarul, după care au înjunghiat mieii şi au stropit cu sânge altarul.

So they killed the bulls, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: and they killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood on the altar: they killed also the lambs, and sprinkled the blood on the altar.

23 A poi au luat ţapii pentru jertfa pentru păcat şi i-au adus înaintea regelui şi a adunării. Aceştia şi-au pus mâinile peste ei,

They brought near the male goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands on them:

24 i ar preoţii au înjunghiat ţapii şi au făcut ispăşire cu sângele acestora pentru păcatul întregului Israel, căci regele poruncise ca arderea de tot şi jertfa pentru păcat să fie aduse pentru întregul Israel.

and the priests killed them, and they made a sin offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel; for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.

25 E l îi pusese pe leviţi să stea în Casa Domnului cu chimvale, cu harfe şi cu lire, aşa cum porunciseră David, Gad, văzătorul regelui, şi profetul Natan, căci porunca fusese dată de Domnul prin profeţii Săi.

He set the Levites in Yahweh’s house with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was of Yahweh by his prophets.

26 D eci leviţii stăteau acolo cu instrumentele lui David, iar preoţii cu trâmbiţele.

The Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

27 C ând Ezechia a poruncit să aducă arderea de tot pe altar, chiar în clipa în care a început arderea de tot, a început şi cântarea Domnului în sunetul trâmbiţelor şi al instrumentelor lui David, regele lui Israel.

Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering on the altar. When the burnt offering began, the song of Yahweh began also, and the trumpets, together with the instruments of David king of Israel.

28 T oată adunarea s-a închinat; cântăreţii au cântat cântarea şi au sunat trâmbiţele până s-a sfârşit arderea de tot.

All the assembly worshiped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.

29 C ând s-a sfârşit arderea de tot, regele împreună cu toţi cei prezenţi au îngenuncheat şi s-au închinat.

When they had finished offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed themselves and worshiped.

30 R egele Ezechia şi conducătorii i-au îndemnat pe leviţi să-L laude pe Domnul, folosind cuvintele lui David şi ale văzătorului Asaf. Ei L-au lăudat cu bucurie, s-au plecat şi s-au închinat.

Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises to Yahweh with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. They sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.

31 V ăzând acestea, Ezechia a zis: „Acum că v-aţi dedicat Domnului, apropiaţi-vă şi aduceţi jertfe şi daruri de mulţumire la Casa Domnului!“ Astfel adunarea a adus jertfe şi daruri de mulţumire, iar toţi aceia care aveau o inimă generoasă au adus arderi de tot.

Then Hezekiah answered, “Now you have consecrated yourselves to Yahweh; come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into Yahweh’s house.” The assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings.

32 N umărul arderilor de tot aduse de către adunare a fost de şaptezeci de viţei, o sută de berbeci şi două sute de miei. Toate aceste vite au fost aduse Domnului ca ardere de tot.

The number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to Yahweh.

33 A u mai închinat Domnului şase sute de viţei şi trei mii de oi.

The consecrated things were six hundred head of cattle and three thousand sheep.

34 P reoţii au fost însă prea puţini, astfel încât nu au putut să jupuiască toate arderile de tot. Prin urmare, rudele lor, leviţii, i-au ajutat până au terminat slujba şi până ce s-au sfinţit şi ceilalţi preoţi, căci leviţii se sfinţiseră cu mai multă râvnă.

But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: therefore their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was ended, and until the priests had sanctified themselves; for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.

35 A u fost multe arderi de tot, în afară de grăsimea jertfelor de pace şi de jertfele de băutură care însoţeau arderea de tot. Şi astfel a fost restabilită slujba la Casa Domnului.

Also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of Yahweh’s house was set in order.

36 E zechia şi tot poporul s-au bucurat pentru că Dumnezeu a purtat de grijă poporului, căci aceasta s-a întâmplat pe neaşteptate.

Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because of that which God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
