1 D oamne, Tu mă cercetezi şi mă cunoşti!

Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me.

2 T u ştii când stau jos şi când mă ridic şi de departe îmi cunoşti gândurile.

You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar.

3 T u îmi cercetezi cărarea şi culcuşul şi toate căile mi le ştii îndeaproape.

You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

4 N ici nu-mi ajunge cuvântul pe buze, că Tu, Doamne, îl şi cunoşti pe de-a-ntregul.

For there is not a word on my tongue, but, behold, Yahweh, you know it altogether.

5 T u mă învălui pe dinapoi şi pe dinainte şi-Ţi pui mâna peste mine.

You hem me in behind and before. You laid your hand on me.

6 O asemenea cunoştinţă este prea minunată pentru mine: este atât de înaltă, încât nu o pot pricepe.

This knowledge is beyond me. It’s lofty. I can’t attain it.

7 U nde să plec dinaintea Duhului Tău, unde să fug dinaintea feţei Tale?

Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence?

8 D acă mă sui în cer, Tu eşti acolo! Dacă îmi întind patul în Locuinţa Morţilor, iată-Te şi acolo!

If I ascend up into heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there!

9 P urtat de aripile zorilor, mă aşez la capătul mării,

If I take the wings of the dawn, and settle in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 d ar şi acolo mâna Ta mă conduce şi dreapta Ta mă apucă.

Even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me.

11 D acă aş spune: „Sigur întunericul mă va ascunde, iar lumina dimprejurul meu se va preface în noapte“,

If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me; the light around me will be night”;

12 n ici chiar întunericul nu este întunecos pentru Tine; noaptea luminează ca ziua, iar întunericul este ca lumina.

even the darkness doesn’t hide from you, but the night shines as the day. The darkness is like light to you.

13 T u mi-ai întocmit rărunchii; Tu m-ai ţesut în pântecele mamei mele.

For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 T e laud că sunt o făptură atât de minunată – minunate sunt lucrările Tale! – şi sufletul meu ştie foarte bine aceasta.

I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

15 O asele mele nu erau ascunse de Tine când am fost făcut într-un loc ascuns, când am fost ţesut în adâncimile pământului.

My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 C ând eram doar un plod fără chip, ochii Tăi mă vedeau, iar în cartea Ta erau scrise toate zilele care mi-au fost hotărâte mai înainte să existe vreuna din ele.

Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them.

17 C ât de greu de pătruns îmi sunt gândurile Tale, Dumnezeule! Cât de mare este numărul lor!

How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum!

18 C ând le număr, sunt mai multe decât boabele de nisip. Când mă trezesc, sunt tot cu Tine.

If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.

19 D umnezeule, de l-ai ucide pe cel rău! Depărtaţi-vă de la mine, ucigaşilor!

If only you, God, would kill the wicked. Get away from me, you bloodthirsty men!

20 E i, care vorbesc de Tine în chip nelegiuit, duşmanii Tăi, care Îţi folosesc Numele în mod nesăbuit!

For they speak against you wickedly. Your enemies take your name in vain.

21 S ă nu-i urăsc pe cei ce Te urăsc, Doamne ? Să nu-mi fie scârbă de cei ce se ridică împotriva Ta?

Yahweh, don’t I hate those who hate you? Am I not grieved with those who rise up against you?

22 Î i urăsc cu o ură desăvârşită: pentru mine, ei sunt nişte duşmani.

I hate them with perfect hatred. They have become my enemies.

23 C ercetează-mă, Dumnezeule, şi cunoaşte-mi inima, încearcă-mă şi cunoaşte-mi frământările!

Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts.

24 V ezi dacă sunt pe o cale rea şi du-mă pe calea veşniciei!

See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.
