1 O ra ecco i figli d'Israele, secondo il loro numero, i capi delle case materne i capi di migliaia e di centinaia e i loro ufficiali al servizio del re in tutto ciò che riguardava le divisioni che entravano e uscivano mese dopo mese, tutti i mesi dell'anno; ogni divisione era composta di ventiquattromila uomini.

Now the children of Israel after their number, the heads of fathers’ households and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers who served the king, in any matter of the divisions which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year—of every division were twenty-four thousand.

2 A capo della prima divisione, per il primo mese, c'era Jashobeam, figlio di Zabdiel, e la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

Over the first division for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

3 E gli era dei figli di Perets ed era il capo di tutti gli ufficiali dell'esercito per il primo mese.

He was of the children of Perez, the chief of all the captains of the army for the first month.

4 A capo della divisione del secondo mese c'era Dodai, lo Ahohita; nella sua divisione l'ufficiale piú importante era Mikloth; la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

Over the division of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and his division; and Mikloth the ruler: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

5 I l capo della terza divisione per il terzo mese era Benaiah, figlio del sacerdote Jehoiada; egli era capo e la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The third captain of the army for the third month was Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada the priest, chief: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

6 Q uesto Benaiah era un prode fra i trenta e ora capo dei trenta; nella sua divisione c'era anche suo figlio Ammizabad.

This is that Benaiah who was the mighty man of the thirty, and over the thirty: and of his division was Ammizabad his son.

7 I l quarto capo per il quarto mese era Asahel, fratello di Joab; dopo di lui veniva suo figlio Zebadiah, la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

8 I l quinto capo per il quinto mese era il comandante Shamhuth, lo Izrahita; la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The fifth captain for this fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

9 I l sesto capo per il sesto mese era Ira, figlio di Ikkesh il Tekoita; la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

10 I l settimo capo per il settimo mese era Helets il Pelonita, dei figli di Efraim; la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

11 L 'ottavo capo per l'ottavo mese era Sibbekai lo Hushathita, degli Zarhiti; la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

12 I l nono capo per il nono mese era Abiezer di Anatoth, dei Beniaminiti; la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

13 I l decimo capo per il decimo mese era Maharai di Netofa degli Zerahiti; la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zerahites: and in his division were Twenty-four thousand.

14 L 'undicesimo capo per l'undicesimo mese era Benaiah di Pirathon, dei figli di Efraim; la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

15 I l dodicesimo capo per il dodicesimo mese era Heldai di Netofa, della famiglia di Othniel; la sua divisione comprendeva ventiquattromila uomini.

The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his division were twenty-four thousand.

16 I noltre i capi sulle tribú d'Israele erano i seguenti: il capo sui Rubeniti era Eliezer figlio di Zikri; sui Simeoniti, Scefatiah figlio di Maakah;

Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri the ruler; of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah;

17 s ui Leviti, Hashabiah figlio di Kemuel; su Aaronne Tsadok;

of Levi, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel; of Aaron, Zadok;

18 s u Giuda, Elihu, uno dei fratelli di Davide; su Issacar, Omri figlio di Mikael;

of Judah, Elihu, one of the brothers of David; of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael;

19 s u Zabulon, Ishmaiah figlio di Obadiah; su Neftali, Jerimoth figlio di Azriel;

of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah; of Naphtali, Jeremoth the son of Azriel;

20 s ui figli di Efraim, Hoshea figlio di Azariah; sulla mezza tribú di Manasse, Ioel figlio di Pedaiah;

of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah; of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah;

21 s ulla mezza tribú di Manasse in Galaad Iddo figlio di Zaccaria, su Beniamino, Jaasiel figlio di Abner;

of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah; of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner;

22 s u Dan, Azareel figlio di Jeroham. Questi erano i capi delle tribú d'Israele.

of Dan, Azarel the son of Jeroham. These were the captains of the tribes of Israel.

23 M a Davide non fece il censimento di quelli al di sotto dei vent'anni, perché l'Eterno aveva detto che avrebbe moltiplicato Israele come le stelle del cielo.

But David didn’t take the number of them from twenty years old and under, because Yahweh had said he would increase Israel like the stars of the sky.

24 J oab, figlio di Tseruiah, aveva cominciato il censimento, ma non lo portò a termine; per esso l'ira dell'Eterno si rovesciò su Israele e il numero dei censiti non fu riportato nelle Cronache del re Davide.

Joab the son of Zeruiah began to take a census, but didn’t finish; and wrath came on Israel for this. The number wasn’t put into the account in the chronicles of king David.

25 A zmaveth, figlio di Adiel era preposto ai tesori del re; Gionathan, figlio di Uzziah, era preposto ai tesori che erano nella campagna, nelle città, nei villaggi e nelle torri;

Over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the treasures in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah;

26 E zri, figlio di Kelub, era preposto ai lavoratori dei campi che coltivavano la terra;

Over those who did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub;

27 S cimei da Ramah era preposto alle vigne; Zabdi di Sefam era preposto al prodotto delle vigne depositato nelle cantine;

and over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite; and over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite;

28 B aal-Hanan di Gheder era preposto agli uliveti e ai sicomori che erano in pianura; Joash era preposto ai depositi d'olio;

and over the olive trees and the sycamore trees that were in the lowland was Baal Hanan the Gederite; and over the cellars of oil was Joash;

29 S citrai di Sharon era preposto alle mandrie che pascolavano a Sharon; Shafat, figlio di Adlai, era preposto alle mandrie che erano nelle valli;

and over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite; and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai;

30 O bil, l'Ismaelita, era preposto ai cammelli, Jehdeiah di Merenoth era preposto agli asini;

and over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the donkeys was Jehdeiah the Meronothite; and over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite.

31 J aziz, lo Hagarita, era preposto alle greggi. Tutti questi erano amministratori dei beni del re Davide.

All these were the rulers of the property which was king David’s.

32 G ionathan, zio di Davide, era consigliere, uomo intelligente e scriba, Jehiel figlio di Hakmoni, stava con i figli del re;

Also Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of understanding, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons.

33 A hithofel era consigliere del re Hushai, l'Arkita, era amico del re.

Ahithophel was the king’s counselor: and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.

34 A d Ahithofel successero Jehoiada, figlio di Benaiah, e Abiathar; il capo dell'esercito del re era Joab.

After Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. Joab was the captain of the king’s army.
