1 L 'Eterno parlò ancora a Mosè, dicendo:

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

2 « Fatti due trombe d'argento; le farai d'argento battuto; le userai per convocare l'assemblea e per far muovere gli accampamenti.

“Make two trumpets of silver. You shall make them of beaten work. You shall use them for the calling of the congregation, and for the journeying of the camps.

3 A l suono di entrambe tutta l'assemblea si radunerà presso di te, all'ingresso della tenda di convegno.

When they blow them, all the congregation shall gather themselves to you at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

4 A l suono di una sola tromba, i principi, i capi delle divisioni d'Israele si raduneranno presso di te.

If they blow just one, then the princes, the heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves to you.

5 Q uando suonerete l'allarme la prima volta, i campi che sono a est si metteranno in cammino.

When you blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall go forward.

6 Q uando suonerete l'allarme una seconda volta, i campi che si trovano a sud si metteranno in cammino; si dovrà suonare l'allarme perché si mettano in cammino.

When you blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall go forward. They shall blow an alarm for their journeys.

7 Q uando si deve radunare l'assemblea suonerete la tromba, ma non suonerete l'allarme.

But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm.

8 S uoneranno le trombe i figli di Aaronne, i sacerdoti, sarà uno statuto perpetuo per voi e per i vostri discendenti.

“The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets. This shall be to you for a statute forever throughout your generations.

9 Q uando nel vostro paese andrete alla guerra contro il nemico che vi opprime suonerete l'allarme con le trombe; così sarete ricordati davanti all'Eterno, il vostro DIO, e sarete liberati dai vostri nemici.

When you go to war in your land against the adversary who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets. Then you will be remembered before Yahweh your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.

10 C osì pure nei vostri giorni di gioia, nelle vostre feste stabilite e al principio dei vostri mesi, suonerete le trombe in occasione dei vostri olocausti e dei vostri sacrifici di ringraziamento; ed esse vi faranno ricordare davanti al vostro DIO. lo sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO».

“Also in the day of your gladness, and in your set feasts, and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be to you for a memorial before your God. I am Yahweh your God.”

11 O r avvenne che nel secondo anno, nel secondo mese, il ventesimo giorno del mese, la nuvola si alzò sopra il tabernacolo della testimonianza.

In the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle of the testimony.

12 E i figli d'Israele si misero in cammino, abbandonando il deserto del Sinai; poi la nuvola si fermò ne deserto di Paran.

The children of Israel went forward according to their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud stayed in the wilderness of Paran.

13 C osì si misero in cammino la prima volta, secondo l'ordine dell'Eterno dato per mezzo di Mosè.

They first went forward according to the commandment of Yahweh by Moses.

14 P er prima si mosse la bandiera del campo dei figli di Giuda, diviso secondo le loro schiere. Sopra la divisione di Giuda comandava Nahshon, figlio di Amminadab.

First, the standard of the camp of the children of Judah went forward according to their armies. Nahshon the son of Amminadab was over his army.

15 N ethaneel, figlio di Tsuar, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli d'Issacar,

Nethanel the son of Zuar was over the army of the tribe of the children of Issachar.

16 m entre Eliab, figlio di Helon comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Zabulon.

Eliab the son of Helon was over the army of the tribe of the children of Zebulun.

17 P oi fu smontato il tabernacolo e i figli di Ghershon e i figli di Merari si misero in cammino, portando il tabernacolo.

The tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, who bore the tabernacle, went forward.

18 S i mosse quindi la bandiera del campo di Ruben, diviso secondo le sue schiere. Sopra la divisione di Ruben comandava Elitsur, figlio di Scedeur.

The standard of the camp of Reuben went forward according to their armies. Elizur the son of Shedeur was over his army.

19 S celumiel, figlio di Tsurishaddai, comandava la divisione della tribù dei figli di Simeone,

Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai was over the army of the tribe of the children of Simeon.

20 m entre Eliasaf, figlio di Deuel, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Gad.

Eliasaph the son of Deuel was over the army of the tribe of the children of Gad.

21 P oi si mossero i Kehathiti, portando gli oggetti sacri; avrebbero eretto il tabernacolo prima del loro arrivo.

The Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary. The others set up the tabernacle before they arrived.

22 S i mosse quindi la bandiera del campo dei figli di Efraim, diviso secondo le sue schiere. Sopra la divisione di Efraim comandava Elishama, figlio di Ammihud.

The standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies. Elishama the son of Ammihud was over his army.

23 G amaliel, figlio di Pedahtsur, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Manasse,

Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur was over the army of the tribe of the children of Manasseh.

24 m entre Abidan, figlio di Ghideoni, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Beniamino.

Abidan the son of Gideoni was over the army of the tribe of the children of Benjamin.

25 S i mosse quindi la bandiera del campo dei figli di Dan, diviso secondo le sue schiere, formando la retroguardia di tutti i campi. Sopra la divisione di Dan comandava Ahiezer, figlio di Ammishaddai.

The standard of the camp of the children of Dan, which was the rear guard of all the camps, set forward according to their armies. Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai was over his army.

26 P aghiel, figlio di Okran, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Ascer,

Pagiel the son of Ochran was over the army of the tribe of the children of Asher.

27 m entre Ahira, figlio di Enan, comandava la divisione della tribú dei figli di Neftali.

Ahira the son of Enan was over the army of the tribe of the children of Naphtali.

28 Q uesto era l'ordine di marcia dei figli d'Israele, secondo le loro divisioni. Così si misero in cammino.

Thus were the travels of the children of Israel according to their armies; and they went forward.

29 O r Mosè disse a Hobab, figlio di Reuel il Madianita, suocero di Mosè: «Noi ci mettiamo in viaggio verso il luogo del quale l'Eterno ha detto: "Io ve lo darò". Vieni con noi e ti faremo del bene, perché l'Eterno ha promesso buone cose ad Israele».

Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are journeying to the place of which Yahweh said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well; for Yahweh has spoken good concerning Israel.”

30 H obab gli rispose: «Io non verrò, ma ritornerò al mio paese e dai miei parenti».

He said to him, “I will not go; but I will depart to my own land, and to my relatives.”

31 A llora Mosè disse: «Deh, non ci lasciare, poiché tu sai dove dobbiamo accamparci nel deserto e tu sarai come gli occhi per noi.

He said, “Don’t leave us, please; because you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.

32 S e vieni con noi, qualunque bene l'Eterno farà a noi, noi lo faremo a te».

It shall be, if you go with us, yes, it shall be, that whatever good Yahweh does to us, we will do the same to you.”

33 C osì partirono dal monte dell'Eterno e fecero tre giorni di cammino; e l'arca del patto dell'Eterno andò davanti a loro per un cammino di tre giorni, per cercare un luogo di riposo per loro.

They set forward from the Mount of Yahweh three days’ journey. The ark of Yahweh’s covenant went before them three days’ journey, to seek out a resting place for them.

34 E la nuvola dell'Eterno era sopra di loro durante il giorno, quando partivano dall'accampamento.

The cloud of Yahweh was over them by day, when they set forward from the camp.

35 Q uando l'arca partiva, Mosè diceva: «Levati, o Eterno, siano dispersi i tuoi nemici e fuggano davanti a te quelli che ti odiano!».

When the ark went forward, Moses said, “Rise up, Yahweh, and let your enemies be scattered! Let those who hate you flee before you!”

36 E quando si fermava, diceva: «Torna, o Eterno, alle miriadi di migliaia d'Israele!».

When it rested, he said, “Return, Yahweh, to the ten thousands of the thousands of Israel.”
