1 J otham aveva venticinque anni quando iniziò a regnare, e regnò sedici anni a Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Jerushah, figlia di Tsadok.

Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.

2 E gli fece ciò che è giusto agli occhi dell'Eterno, in tutto come aveva fatto suo padre Uzziah, (tuttavia non entrò nel tempio dell'Eterno), ma il popolo continuava a corrompersi.

He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, according to all that his father Uzziah had done: however he didn’t enter into Yahweh’s temple. The people still did corruptly.

3 E gli costruí la porta superiore della casa dell'Eterno e fece molti lavori sulle mura di Ofel.

He built the upper gate of Yahweh’s house, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.

4 I noltre costruí delle città nella regione montuosa di Giuda e nelle foreste costruí fortezze e torri.

Moreover he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built fortresses and towers.

5 F ece pure guerra al re dei figli di Ammon e li vinse. I figli di Ammon gli diedero quell'anno cento talenti d'argento, diecimila cori di grano e diecimila d'orzo. La stessa quantità gli fu consegnata dai figli di Ammon il secondo e il terzo anno.

He fought also with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. The children of Ammon gave him the same year one hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand cors of wheat, and ten thousand cors of barley. The children of Ammon gave that much to him in the second year also, and in the third.

6 C osí Jotham divenne potente, perché regolò il suo cammino davanti all'Eterno, il suo DIO.

So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Yahweh his God.

7 I l resto delle gesta di Jotham, tutte le sue guerre e le sue imprese, ecco, sono scritte nel libro dei re d'Israele e di Giuda.

Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

8 E gli aveva venticinque anni quando iniziò a regnare, e regnò sedici anni a Gerusalemme.

He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.

9 P oi Jotham si addormentò con i suoi padri e fu sepolto nella città di Davide. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Achaz.

Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in David’s city: and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.
