1 D omnul a vorbit lui Moise în pustia Sinai, în cortul întîlnirii, în cea dintîi zi a lunii a doua, în al doilea an după ieşirea lor din ţara Egiptului. El a zis:

Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 F aceţi numărătoarea întregei adunări a copiilor lui Israel, după familiile lor, după casele părinţilor lor, numărînd pe cap numele tuturor bărbaţilor,

“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one;

3 d ela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, pe toţi cei din Israel cari sînt în stare să poarte armele; să le faceţi numărătoarea după cetele lor, tu şi Aaron.

from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their divisions.

4 S ă fie cu voi cîte un bărbat de fiecare seminţie, căpetenie a casei părinţilor săi.

With you there shall be a man of every tribe; everyone head of his fathers’ house.

5 I ată numele bărbaţilor cari vor fi împreună cu voi. Pentru Ruben: Eliţur, fiul lui Şedeur;

These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6 p entru Simeon: Şelumiel, fiul lui Ţurişadai;

Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7 p entru Iuda: Nahşon, fiul lui Aminadab;

Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

8 p entru Isahar: Netaneel, fiul lui Ţuar;

Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

9 p entru Zabulon: Eliab, fiul lui Helon;

Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.

10 p entru fiii lui Iosif, -pentru Efraim: Elişama, fiul lui Amihud; pentru Manase: Gamliel, fiul lui Pedahţur;

Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

11 p entru Beniamin: Abidan, fiul lui Ghideoni;

Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.

12 p entru Dan: Ahiezer, fiul lui Amişadai;

Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

13 p entru Aşer: Paguiel, fiul lui Ocran;

Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.

14 p entru Gad: Eliasaf, fiul lui Deuel;

Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

15 p entru Neftali: Ahira, fiul lui Enan.

Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.”

16 A ceştia sînt cei ce au fost aleşi de adunare, mai marii seminţiilor părinţilor lor, căpeteniile miilor lui Israel.

These are those who were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

17 M oise şi Aaron au luat pe bărbaţii aceştia cari fuseseră chemaţi pe nume,

Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name.

18 ş i au strîns toată adunarea, în cea dintîi zi a lunii a doua. I-au trecut în cărţile cari cuprindeau spiţa neamului, după familiile lor, după casele părinţilor lor, numărînd pe cap numele bărbaţilor dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus.

They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one.

19 M oise a făcut numărătoarea în pustia Sinai, cum îi poruncise Domnul.

As Yahweh commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 A u trecut în cărţile neamului pe fiii lui Ruben, întîiul născut al lui Israel, după familiile lor, după casele părinţilor lor, numărînd pe cap numele tuturor bărbaţilor, dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, pe toţi cei în stare să poarte armele:

The children of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

21 b ărbaţii din seminţia lui Ruben ieşiţi la numărătoare, au fost patruzeci şi şase de mii cinci sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand five hundred.

22 A u trecut în cărţile neamului pe fiii lui Simeon, după familiile lor, după casele părinţilor lor; le-au făcut numărătoarea, numărînd pe cap numele tuturor bărbaţilor dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi cei în stare să poarte armele:

Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those who were numbered of it, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

23 b ărbaţii din seminţia lui Simeon ieşiţi la numărătoare, au fost cincizeci şi nouă de mii trei sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

25 b ărbaţii din seminţia lui Gad ieşiţi la numărătoare, au fost patruzeci şi cinci de mii şase sute cincizeci.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.

26 A u trecut în cărţile neamului pe fiii lui Iuda, după familiile lor, după casele părinţilor lor, numărînd numele bărbaţilor dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, pe toţi cei în stare să poarte armele:

Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.

Of the children of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

29 b ărbaţii din seminţia lui Isahar, ieşiţi la numărătoare, au fost cincizeci şi patru de mii patru sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand four hundred.

Of the children of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

31 b ărbaţii din seminţia lui Zabulon ieşiţi la numărătoare, au fost cincizeci şi şapte de mii patru sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

32 A u trecut în cărţile neamului dintre fiii lui Iosif, pe fiii lui Efraim, după familiile lor, după casele părinţilor lor, numărînd numele bărbaţilor dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, pe toţi cei în stare să poarte armele:

Of the children of Joseph, of the children of Ephraim, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand five hundred.

Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand four hundred.

38 A u trecut în cărţile neamului pe fiii lui Dan, după familiile lor, după casele părinţilor lor, numărînd numele bărbaţilor dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, pe toţi cei în stare să poarte armele:

Of the children of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

39 b ărbaţii din seminţia lui Dan ieşiţi la numărătoare, au fost şasezeci şi două de mii şapte sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

40 A u trecut în cărţile neamului pe fiii lui Aşer, după familiile lor, după casele părinţilor lor, numărînd numele bărbaţilor dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, pe toţi cei în stare să poarte armele:

Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

41 b ărbaţii din seminţia lui Aşer, ieşiţi la numărătoare, au fost patruzeci şi una de mii cinci sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand five hundred.

42 A u trecut în cărţile neamului pe fiii lui Neftali, după familiile lor, după casele părinţilor lor, numărînd numele bărbaţilor dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, pe toţi cei în stare să poarte armele:

Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

43 b ărbaţii din seminţia lui Neftali ieşiţi la numărătoare, au fost cincizeci şi trei de mii patru sute.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.

44 A ceştia sînt aceia a căror numărătoare a fost făcută de Moise şi Aaron, şi de cei doisprezece bărbaţi, mai mari ai lui Israel; era cîte un bărbat pentru fiecare din casele părinţilor lor.

These are those who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: they were each one for his fathers’ house.

45 T oţi aceia dintre copiii lui Israel ieşiţi la numărătoare, după casele părinţilor lor, dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, toţi aceia din Israel cari erau în stare să poarte armele,

So all those who were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war in Israel;

46 t oţi cei ieşiţi la numărătoare, au fost şase sute trei mii cincisute cinci zeci.

even all those who were numbered were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

47 L eviţii, după seminţia părinţilor lor, n'au intrat în numărătoarea aceasta.

But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

48 D omnul a vorbit lui Moise, şi a zis:

For Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

49 S ă nu faci numărătoarea seminţiei lui Levi, şi să nu -i numeri capetele în mijlocul celorlalţi copii ai lui Israel.

“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, neither shall you take a census of them among the children of Israel;

50 D ă în grija Leviţilor cortul întîlnirii, toate uneltele lui şi tot ce ţine de el. Ei vor duce cortul şi toate uneltele lui, vor face slujba în el, şi vor tăbărî în jurul cortului.

but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle, and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it.

51 C înd va porni cortul, Leviţii să -l desfacă; şi cînd se va opri cortul, Leviţii să -l întindă; iar străinul care se va apropia de el, să fie pedepsit cu moartea.

When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

52 C opiii lui Israel să tăbărască fiecare în tabăra lui, fiecare lîngă steagul lui, după cetele lor.

The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their divisions.

53 D ar Leviţii să tăbărască în jurul cortului întîlnirii, pentru ca să nu izbucnească mînia Mea împotriva adunării copiilor lui Israel; şi Leviţii să aibă paza cortului întîlnirii.``

But the Levites shall encamp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.”

54 C opiii lui Israel au făcut întocmai după toate poruncile, pe cari le dăduse lui Moise Domnul; aşa au făcut.

Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so they did.
