1 E l día primero del mes segundo del segundo año de la salida de Egipto, el Señor habló con Moisés en el desierto de Sinaí. En el tabernáculo de reunión le dijo:

Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 « Levanten el censo de toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel. Cuenten los nombres de todos y cada uno de los varones, y anótenlos por familias y por las familias de sus antepasados.

“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one;

3 A arón y tú contarán a todos los israelitas de veinte años para arriba que puedan salir a la guerra, y los agruparán en escuadrones.

from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their divisions.

4 C on ustedes estará un varón de cada tribu, que sea jefe en la familia de sus antepasados.

With you there shall be a man of every tribe; everyone head of his fathers’ house.

5 » Éstos son los nombres de los varones que estarán con ustedes: »De la tribu de Rubén, Elisur hijo de Sedeur.

These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6 » De Simeón, Selumiel hijo de Surisaday.

Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7 » De Judá, Nasón hijo de Aminadab.

Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

8 » De Isacar, Natanael hijo de Suar.

Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

9 » De Zabulón, Eliab hijo de Helón.

Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.

10 » De los hijos de José: »De Efraín, Elisama hijo de Amiud. »De Manasés, Gamaliel hijo de Pedasur.

Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

11 » De Benjamín, Abidán hijo de Gedeoni.

Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.

12 » De Dan, Ajiezer hijo de Amisaday.

Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

13 » De Aser, Pagiel hijo de Ocrán.

Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.

14 » De Gad, Eliasaf hijo de Deuel.

Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

15 » De Neftalí, Ajirá hijo de Enán.»

Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.”

16 É stos eran jefes de las tribus de sus padres y capitanes de los escuadrones de Israel, y fueron nombrados de entre la congregación.

These are those who were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

17 M oisés y Aarón tomaron a estos varones designados por nombre,

Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name.

18 y el día primero del mes segundo reunieron a toda la congregación y fueron agrupando a todos por familias, según las familias de sus antepasados y según la cuenta de los nombres de los mayores de veinte años.

They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one.

19 M oisés los contó en el desierto de Sinaí, tal y como el Señor se lo había ordenado.

As Yahweh commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 D e los hijos de Rubén, el primogénito de Israel, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

The children of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

21 L os contados de la tribu de Rubén fueron cuarenta y seis mil quinientos.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand five hundred.

22 D e los hijos de Simeón, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those who were numbered of it, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

23 L os contados de la tribu de Simeón fueron cincuenta y nueve mil trescientos.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

24 D e los hijos de Gad, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

25 L os contados de la tribu de Gad fueron cuarenta y cinco mil seiscientos cincuenta.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.

26 D e los hijos de Judá, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

27 L os contados de la tribu de Judá fueron setenta y cuatro mil seiscientos.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.

28 D e los hijos de Isacar, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

Of the children of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

29 L os contados de la tribu de Isacar fueron cincuenta y cuatro mil cuatrocientos.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand four hundred.

30 D e los hijos de Zabulón, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

32 D e los hijos de José: de los hijos de Efraín fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

33 L os contados de la tribu de Efraín fueron cuarenta mil quinientos.

34 D e los hijos de Manasés, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

35 L os contados de la tribu de Manasés fueron treinta y dos mil doscientos.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.

36 D e los hijos de Benjamín, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

Of the children of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

37 L os contados de la tribu de Benjamín fueron treinta y cinco mil cuatrocientos.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand four hundred.

38 D e los hijos de Dan, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

Of the children of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

39 L os contados de la tribu de Dan fueron sesenta y dos mil setecientos.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

40 D e los hijos de Aser, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

41 L os contados de la tribu de Aser fueron cuarenta y un mil quinientos.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand five hundred.

42 D e los hijos de Neftalí, fueron contados todos los varones mayores de veinte años que podían salir a la guerra, cada uno por su nombre, descendencia y familia, según las familias de sus antepasados.

Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

43 L os contados de la tribu de Neftalí fueron cincuenta y tres mil cuatrocientos.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.

44 É stos fueron los que contaron Moisés y Aarón, con los doce jefes de Israel, uno por cada familia de sus antepasados.

These are those who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: they were each one for his fathers’ house.

45 T odos los israelitas mayores de veinte años que fueron contados por las familias de sus antepasados, y que podían salir a la guerra,

So all those who were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war in Israel;

46 f ueron un total de seiscientos tres mil quinientos cincuenta. Nombramiento de los levitas

even all those who were numbered were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

47 L os levitas no fueron contados entre ellos según la tribu de sus padres,

But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

48 p orque el Señor habló con Moisés y le dijo:

For Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

49 « La tribu de Leví será la única a la que no contarás, ni llevarás la cuenta de ellos entre los israelitas,

“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, neither shall you take a census of them among the children of Israel;

50 s ino que pondrás a los levitas en el tabernáculo del testimonio, y a cargo de todos sus utensilios y de todo lo que le pertenece. Ellos llevarán el tabernáculo y todos sus enseres, y acamparán alrededor del tabernáculo y servirán en él.

but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle, and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it.

51 C uando el tabernáculo haya de trasladarse, los levitas lo desarmarán, y cuando haya de detenerse, los levitas lo armarán; y el extraño que se acerque será condenado a muerte.

When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

52 L os hijos de Israel acamparán en su respectivo campamento, cada uno junto a su bandera y en el orden de sus ejércitos,

The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their divisions.

53 p ero los levitas acamparán alrededor del tabernáculo del testimonio, para que no venga la ira sobre la congregación de los hijos de Israel, y se ocuparán de cuidar el tabernáculo del testimonio.»

But the Levites shall encamp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.”

54 Y los hijos de Israel hicieron todo conforme a todo lo que el Señor le ordenó a Moisés.

Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so they did.
