1 E stas son las palabras de Amós, que era un pastor de Tecoa. Tuvo una visión acerca de Israel durante los reinados de Uzías en Judá, y de Jeroboán hijo de Joás en Israel. Esto sucedió dos años antes del terremoto.

5 Q uebraré los cerrojos de Damasco, destruiré a los habitantes de Bicat Avén y a los gobernadores de Bet Edén, y el pueblo de Siria será llevado a Quir. —Palabra del Señor.

6 A sí ha dicho el Señor: Por tres pecados de Gaza, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo. Por haberse llevado cautivo a todo un pueblo para entregárselo a Edom,

8 D estruiré a los habitantes de Asdod y a los gobernadores de Ascalón. Descargaré mi mano sobre Ecrón y el resto de los filisteos perecerá. —Palabra del Señor.

I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon; and I will turn my hand against Ekron; and the remnant of the Philistines will perish,” says the Lord Yahweh.

9 A sí ha dicho el Señor: Por tres pecados de Tiro, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo. Por haberse llevado cautivo a todo un pueblo para entregárselo a Edom, sin acordarse del pacto de hermanos,

Yahweh says: “For three transgressions of Tyre, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they delivered up the whole community to Edom, and didn’t remember the brotherly covenant;

11 A sí ha dicho el Señor: Por tres pecados de Edom, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo. Por perseguir espada en mano a su hermano, violando así todo afecto natural, y por robarle siempre, y con furor guardarle rencor todo el tiempo,

Yahweh says: “For three transgressions of Edom, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because he pursued his brother with the sword, and cast off all pity, and his anger raged continually, and he kept his wrath forever;

13 A sí ha dicho el Señor: Por tres pecados de los hijos de Amón, y por el cuarto, no revocaré su castigo. Por haber ensanchado su territorio y abrir en canal a las mujeres de Galaad, a pesar de que estaban encintas,

Yahweh says: “For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have ripped open the pregnant women of Gilead, that they may enlarge their border.

14 l e prenderé fuego a la muralla de Rabá, y éste consumirá sus palacios con el estruendo de un día de batalla, ¡con el estruendo de un día tempestuoso!,

But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it will devour its palaces, with shouting in the day of battle, with a storm in the day of the whirlwind;

15 y su rey y todos sus príncipes serán llevados al cautiverio. —Palabra del Señor.
