1 M oisés, junto con los ancianos de Israel, le dio al pueblo la siguiente orden: «Cumplan con todos los mandamientos que hoy les mando cumplir.

Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, “Keep all the commandment which I command you today.

2 C uando cruces el río Jordán y pases a la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da, levantarás unas piedras grandes y las revocarás con cal.

It shall be on the day when you shall pass over the Jordan to the land which Yahweh your God gives you, that you shall set yourself up great stones, and coat them with plaster.

3 U na vez que hayas cruzado el río y entres en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da, tierra que fluye leche y miel, escribirás en esas piedras todas las palabras de esta ley, tal y como el Señor, el Dios de tus padres, te lo ha ordenado.

You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have passed over; that you may go in to the land which Yahweh your God gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised you.

4 E n cuanto hayas pasado el Jordán, levantarás estas piedras en el monte Ebal y las revocarás con cal, tal y como hoy les mando que lo hagan.

It shall be, when you have crossed over the Jordan, that you shall set up these stones, which I command you today, on Mount Ebal, and you shall coat them with plaster.

5 E dificarás allí un altar de piedras en honor del Señor tu Dios, pero no labres las piedras con ninguna herramienta,

There you shall build an altar to Yahweh your God, an altar of stones. You shall not use any iron tool on them.

6 s ino que el altar lo harás de piedras enteras. Sobre él ofrecerás al Señor tu Dios holocaustos

You shall build the altar of Yahweh your God of uncut stones. You shall offer burnt offerings on it to Yahweh your God.

7 y ofrendas de paz, y allí, delante del Señor tu Dios, comerás y te alegrarás.

You shall sacrifice peace offerings, and shall eat there. You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God.

8 S obre las piedras escribirás con claridad todas las palabras de esta ley.»

You shall write on the stones all the words of this law very plainly.”

9 E ntonces Moisés, junto con los sacerdotes levitas, habló con todos los israelitas y les dijo: «Israel, guarda silencio y escucha: Este día te has convertido en el pueblo del Señor tu Dios.

Moses and the priests the Levites spoke to all Israel, saying, “Be silence, and listen, Israel! Today you have become the people of Yahweh your God.

10 A sí que deberás oír la voz del Señor tu Dios y cumplir sus mandamientos y estatutos, que hoy te ordeno obedecer.» Las maldiciones en el monte Ebal

You shall therefore obey Yahweh your God’s voice, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command you today.”

11 Y ese día Moisés dio al pueblo las siguientes instrucciones:

Moses commanded the people the same day, saying,

12 « Cuando hayas cruzado el río Jordán, sobre el monte Guerizín estarán Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar, José y Benjamín, para bendecir al pueblo.

“These shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you have crossed over the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.

13 Y sobre el monte Ebal estarán, para pronunciar la maldición, Rubén, Gad, Aser, Zabulón, Dan y Neftalí.

These shall stand on Mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

14 Y los levitas hablarán con todos los varones de Israel, y les dirán en alta voz:

With a loud voice, the Levites shall say to all the men of Israel,

15 » “Maldito sea el que haga alguna escultura o imagen de fundición, o pida a un artífice que la haga, y la oculte. Eso es un hecho repugnante al Señor.” »En respuesta, todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is the man who makes an engraved or molten image, an abomination to Yahweh, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.’ All the people shall answer and say, ‘Amen.’

16 » “Maldito sea el que deshonre a su padre o a su madre.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who dishonors his father or his mother.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

17 » “Maldito sea el que reduzca los linderos de su prójimo.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who removes his neighbor’s landmark.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

18 » “Maldito sea el que haga que el ciego pierda el camino.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who leads the blind astray on the road.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

19 » “Maldito sea el que tuerza los derechos del extranjero, del huérfano y de la viuda.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who withholds justice from the foreigner, fatherless, and widow.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

20 » “Maldito sea el que se acueste con la mujer de su padre, pues con ello descubre la intimidad de su padre.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who lies with his father’s wife, because he dishonors his father’s bed.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

21 » “Maldito sea el que tenga relaciones sexuales con un animal.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who lies with any kind of animal.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

22 » “Maldito sea el que se acueste con su hermana, sea ésta hija de su padre o hija de su madre.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who lies with his sister, his father’s daughter or his mother’s daughter.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

23 » “Maldito sea el que se acueste con su suegra.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who lies with his mother-in-law.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

24 » “Maldito sea el homicida anónimo.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who secretly kills his neighbor.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

25 » “Maldito sea el que mate a un inocente a cambio de dinero.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who takes a bribe to kill an innocent person.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

26 » “Maldito sea el que no se comprometa a cumplir las palabras de esta ley.” »Y todo el pueblo dirá: “¡Amén!”

‘Cursed is he who doesn’t uphold the words of this law by doing them.’ All the people shall say, ‘Amen.’”
