1 U nd der HERR redete mit Mose in der Wüste Sinai in der Hütte des Stifts am ersten Tage des zweiten Monats im zweiten Jahr, da sie aus Ägyptenland gegangen waren, und sprach:

Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

2 N ehmet die Summe der ganzen Gemeinde der Kinder Israel nach ihren Geschlechtern und Vaterhäusern und Namen, alles, was männlich ist, von Haupt zu Haupt,

“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, every male, one by one;

3 v on zwanzig Jahren an und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugt in Israel; ihr sollt sie zählen nach ihren Heeren, du und Aaron.

from twenty years old and upward, all who are able to go out to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their divisions.

4 U nd sollt zu euch nehmen je vom Stamm einen Hauptmann über sein Vaterhaus.

With you there shall be a man of every tribe; everyone head of his fathers’ house.

5 D ies sind die Namen der Hauptleute, die neben euch stehen sollen: von Ruben sei Elizur, der Sohn Sedeurs;

These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: Of Reuben: Elizur the son of Shedeur.

6 v on Simeon sei Selumiel, der Sohn Zuri-Saddais;

Of Simeon: Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

7 v on Juda sei Nahesson, der Sohn Amminadabs;

Of Judah: Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

8 v on Isaschar sei Nathanael, der Sohn Zuars;

Of Issachar: Nethanel the son of Zuar.

9 v on Sebulon sei Eliab, der Sohn Helons;

Of Zebulun: Eliab the son of Helon.

10 v on den Kindern Josephs: von Ephraim sei Elisama, der Sohn Ammihuds; von Manasse sei Gamliel, der Sohn Pedazurs;

Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim: Elishama the son of Ammihud. Of Manasseh: Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

11 v on Benjamin sei Abidan, der Sohn des Gideoni;

Of Benjamin: Abidan the son of Gideoni.

12 v on Dan sei Ahieser, der Sohn Ammi-Saddais;

Of Dan: Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

13 v on Asser sei Pagiel, der Sohn Ochrans;

Of Asher: Pagiel the son of Ochran.

14 v on Gad sei Eljasaph, der Sohn Deguels;

Of Gad: Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

15 v on Naphthali sei Ahira, der Sohn Enans.

Of Naphtali: Ahira the son of Enan.”

16 D as sind die Vornehmsten der Gemeinde, die Fürsten unter den Stämmen ihrer Väter, die da Häupter über die Tausende in Israel waren.

These are those who were called of the congregation, the princes of the tribes of their fathers; they were the heads of the thousands of Israel.

17 U nd Mose und Aaron nahmen sie zu sich, wie sie da mit Namen genannt sind,

Moses and Aaron took these men who are mentioned by name.

18 u nd sammelten auch die ganze Gemeinde am ersten Tage des zweiten Monats und rechneten nach ihrer Geburt, nach ihren Geschlechtern und Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber, von Haupt zu Haupt,

They assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they declared their ancestry by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, one by one.

19 w ie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte, und zählten sie in der Wüste Sinai.

As Yahweh commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 D er Kinder Ruben, des ersten Sohnes Israels, nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von Haupt zu Haupt, alles, was männlich war, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, und ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

The children of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

21 w urden gezählt vom Stamme Ruben sechsundvierzigtausend und fünfhundert.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand five hundred.

22 D er Kinder Simeon nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern, Zahl und Namen, von Haupt zu Haupt, alles, was männlich war, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, und ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

Of the children of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, those who were numbered of it, according to the number of the names, one by one, every male from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

23 w urden gezählt zum Stamm Simeon neunundfünfzigtausend und dreihundert.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

24 D er Kinder Gad nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, und ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

Of the children of Gad, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

25 w urden gezählt zum Stamm Gad fünfundvierzigtausend sechshundertundfünfzig.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.

26 D er Kinder Juda nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

Of the children of Judah, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

27 w urden gezählt zum Stamm Juda vierundsiebzigtausend und sechshundert.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.

28 D er Kinder Isaschar nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

Of the children of Issachar, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

29 w urden gezählt zum Stamm Isaschar vierundfünfzigtausend und vierhundert.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand four hundred.

30 D er Kinder Sebulon nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

Of the children of Zebulun, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

32 D er Kinder Joseph von Ephraim nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

35 w urden zum Stamm Manasse gezählt zweiunddreißigtausend und zweihundert.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.

36 D er Kinder Benjamin nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

39 w urden gezählt zum Stamme Dan zweiundsechzigtausend und siebenhundert.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

40 D er Kinder Asser nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

41 w urden gezählt zum Stamm Asser einundvierzigtausend und fünfhundert.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand five hundred.

42 D er Kinder Naphthali nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte,

Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war;

43 w urden zum Stamm Naphthali gezählt dreiundfünfzigtausend und vierhundert.

those who were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.

44 D ies sind, die Mose und Aaron zählten samt den zwölf Fürsten Israels, deren je einer über ein Vaterhaus war.

These are those who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: they were each one for his fathers’ house.

45 U nd die Summe der Kinder Israel nach ihrer Geburt und Geschlecht, ihren Vaterhäusern und Namen, von zwanzig Jahren und darüber, was ins Heer zu ziehen taugte in Israel,

So all those who were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and upward, all who were able to go out to war in Israel;

46 w ar sechsmal hunderttausend und dreitausend fünfhundertundfünfzig.

even all those who were numbered were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

47 A ber die Leviten nach ihrer Väter Stamm wurden nicht mit darunter gezählt.

But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

48 U nd der HERR redete mit Mose und sprach:

For Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

49 D en Stamm Levi sollst du nicht zählen noch ihre Summe nehmen unter den Kindern Israel,

“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, neither shall you take a census of them among the children of Israel;

50 s ondern du sollst sie ordnen zur Wohnung des Zeugnisses und zu allem Geräte und allem, was dazu gehört. Und sie sollen die Wohnung tragen und alles Gerät und sollen sein pflegen und um die Wohnung her sich lagern.

but appoint the Levites over the Tabernacle of the Testimony, and over all its furnishings, and over all that belongs to it. They shall carry the tabernacle, and all its furnishings; and they shall take care of it, and shall encamp around it.

51 U nd wenn man reisen soll, so sollen die Leviten die Wohnung abnehmen. Wenn aber das Heer zu lagern ist, sollen sie die Wohnung aufschlagen. Und wo ein Fremder sich dazumacht, der soll sterben.

When the tabernacle is to move, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

52 D ie Kinder Israel sollen sich lagern, ein jeglicher in sein Lager und zu dem Panier seiner Schar.

The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their divisions.

53 A ber die Leviten sollen sich um die Wohnung des Zeugnisses her lagern, auf daß nicht ein Zorn über die Gemeinde der Kinder Israel komme; darum sollen die Leviten des Dienstes warten an der Wohnung des Zeugnisses.

But the Levites shall encamp around the Tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be responsible for the Tabernacle of the Testimony.”

54 U nd die Kinder Israel taten alles, wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte.

Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so they did.
