1 U nd der HERR sprach zu Noah: Gehe in den Kasten, du und dein ganzes Haus; denn ich habe dich gerecht ersehen vor mir zu dieser Zeit.

Yahweh said to Noah, “Come with all of your household into the ship, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation.

2 A us allerlei reinem Vieh nimm zu dir je sieben und sieben, das Männlein und sein Weiblein; von dem unreinen Vieh aber je ein Paar, das Männlein und sein Weiblein.

You shall take seven pairs of every clean animal with you, the male and his female. Of the animals that are not clean, take two, the male and his female.

3 D esgleichen von den Vögeln unter dem Himmel je sieben und sieben, das Männlein und sein Weiblein, auf daß Same lebendig bleibe auf dem ganzen Erdboden.

Also of the birds of the sky, seven and seven, male and female, to keep seed alive on the surface of all the earth.

4 D enn von nun an über sieben Tage will ich regnen lassen auf Erden vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte und vertilgen von dem Erdboden alles, was Wesen hat, was ich gemacht habe.

In seven days, I will cause it to rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights. Every living thing that I have made, I will destroy from the surface of the ground.”

5 U nd Noah tat alles, was ihm der HERR gebot.

Noah did everything that Yahweh commanded him.

6 E r war aber sechshundert Jahre alt, da das Wasser der Sintflut auf Erden kam.

Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came on the earth.

7 U nd er ging in den Kasten mit seinen Söhnen, seinem Weibe und seiner Söhne Weibern vor dem Gewässer der Sintflut.

Noah went into the ship with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, because of the floodwaters.

8 V on dem reinen Vieh und von dem unreinen, von den Vögeln und von allem Gewürm auf Erden

Clean animals, unclean animals, birds, and everything that creeps on the ground

9 g ingen zu ihm in den Kasten paarweise, je ein Männlein und Weiblein, wie ihm Gott geboten hatte.

went by pairs to Noah into the ship, male and female, as God commanded Noah.

10 U nd da die sieben Tage vergangen waren, kam das Gewässer der Sintflut auf Erden.

After the seven days, the floodwaters came on the earth.

11 I n dem sechshundertsten Jahr des Alters Noahs, am siebzehnten Tage des zweiten Monats, das ist der Tag, da aufbrachen alle Brunnen der großen Tiefe, und taten sich auf die Fenster des Himmels,

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep were burst open, and the sky’s windows were opened.

12 u nd kam ein Regen auf Erden vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte.

It rained on the earth forty days and forty nights.

13 E ben am selben Tage ging Noah in den Kasten mit Sem, Ham und Japheth, seinen Söhnen, und mit seinem Weibe und seiner Söhne drei Weibern,

In the same day Noah, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth—the sons of Noah—and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the ship—

14 d azu allerlei Getier nach seiner Art, allerlei Vieh nach seiner Art, allerlei Gewürm, das auf Erden kriecht, nach seiner Art und allerlei Vögel nach ihrer Art, alles was fliegen konnte, alles, was Fittiche hatte;

they, and every animal after its kind, all the livestock after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort.

15 d as ging alles zu Noah in den Kasten paarweise, von allem Fleisch, darin ein lebendiger Geist war.

Pairs from all flesh with the breath of life in them went to Noah into the ship.

16 U nd das waren Männlein und Weiblein von allerlei Fleisch, und gingen hinein, wie denn Gott ihm geboten hatte. Und der HERR schloß hinter ihm zu.

Those who went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; then Yahweh shut him in.

17 D a kam die Sintflut vierzig Tage auf Erden, und die Wasser wuchsen und hoben den Kasten auf und trugen ihn empor über die Erde.

The flood was forty days on the earth. The waters increased, and lifted up the ship, and it was lifted up above the earth.

18 A lso nahm das Gewässer überhand und wuchs sehr auf Erden, daß der Kasten auf dem Gewässer fuhr.

The waters rose, and increased greatly on the earth; and the ship floated on the surface of the waters.

19 U nd das Gewässer nahm überhand und wuchs so sehr auf Erden, daß alle hohen Berge unter dem ganzen Himmel bedeckt wurden.

The waters rose very high on the earth. All the high mountains that were under the whole sky were covered.

20 F ünfzehn Ellen hoch ging das Gewässer über die Berge, die bedeckt wurden.

The waters rose fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered.

21 D a ging alles Fleisch unter, das auf Erden kriecht, an Vögeln, an Vieh, an Tieren und an allem, was sich regt auf Erden, und alle Menschen.

All flesh died that moved on the earth, including birds, livestock, animals, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man.

22 A lles, was einen lebendigen Odem hatte auf dem Trockenen, das starb.

All on the dry land, in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died.

23 A lso ward vertilgt alles, was auf dem Erdboden war, vom Menschen an bis auf das Vieh und das Gewürm und auf die Vögel unter dem Himmel; das ward alles von der Erde vertilgt. Allein Noah blieb übrig und was mit ihm in dem Kasten war.

Every living thing was destroyed that was on the surface of the ground, including man, livestock, creeping things, and birds of the sky. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ship.

24 U nd das Gewässer stand auf Erden hundertundfünfzig Tage.

The waters flooded the earth one hundred fifty days.
