I love Yahweh, because he listens to my voice, and my cries for mercy.

2 D enn er neigte sein Ohr zu mir; darum will ich mein Leben lang ihn anrufen.

3 S tricke des Todes hatten mich umfangen, und Ängste der Hölle hatten mich getroffen; ich kam in Jammer und Not.

The cords of death surrounded me, the pains of Sheol got a hold of me. I found trouble and sorrow.

4 A ber ich rief an den Namen des HERRN: O HERR, errette mein Seele!

Then I called on Yahweh’s name: “Yahweh, I beg you, deliver my soul.”

5 D er HERR ist gnädig und gerecht, und unser Gott ist barmherzig.

Yahweh is Gracious and righteous. Yes, our God is merciful.

6 D er HERR behütet die Einfältigen; wenn ich unterliege, so hilft er mir.

Yahweh preserves the simple. I was brought low, and he saved me.

7 S ei nun wieder zufrieden, meine Seele; denn der HERR tut dir Gutes.

Return to your rest, my soul, for Yahweh has dealt bountifully with you.

8 D enn du hast meine Seele aus dem Tode gerissen, meine Augen von den Tränen, meinen Fuß vom Gleiten.

For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

9 I ch werde wandeln vor dem HERRN im Lande der Lebendigen.

I will walk before Yahweh in the land of the living.

10 I ch glaube, darum rede ich; ich werde aber sehr geplagt.

I believed, therefore I said, “I was greatly afflicted.”

11 I ch sprach in meinem Zagen: Alle Menschen sind Lügner.

I said in my haste, “All men are liars.”

12 W ie soll ich dem HERRN vergelten alle seine Wohltat, die er an mir tut?

What will I give to Yahweh for all his benefits toward me?

13 I ch will den Kelch des Heils nehmen und des HERRN Namen predigen.

I will take the cup of salvation, and call on Yahweh’s name.

14 I ch will mein Gelübde dem HERRN bezahlen vor allem seinem Volk.

I will pay my vows to Yahweh, yes, in the presence of all his people.

15 D er Tod seiner Heiligen ist wertgehalten vor dem HERRN.

Precious in Yahweh’s sight is the death of his saints.

16 O HERR, ich bin dein Knecht; ich bin dein Knecht, deiner Magd Sohn. Du hast meine Bande zerrissen.

Yahweh, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your servant. You have freed me from my chains.

17 D ir will ich Dank opfern und des HERRN Namen predigen.

I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call on Yahweh’s name.

18 I ch will meine Gelübde dem HERRN bezahlen vor allem seinem Volk,

I will pay my vows to Yahweh, yes, in the presence of all his people,

19 i n den Höfen am Hause des HERRN, in dir Jerusalem. Halleluja!

in the courts of Yahweh’s house, in the middle of you, Jerusalem. Praise Yah!
