1 Î n urma acestei urgii, Domnul a zis lui Moise şi lui Eleazar, fiul preotului Aaron:

After the plague, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,

2 F aceţi numărătoarea întregei adunări a copiilor lui Israel, dela vîsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, după casele părinţilor lor, a tuturor celor din Israel cari sînt în stare să poarte armele.``

“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by their fathers’ houses, all who are able to go out to war in Israel.”

3 M oise şi preotul Eleazar le-au vorbit în cîmpia Moabului, lîngă Iordan, în faţa Ierihonului. Şi au zis:

Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,

4 S ă se facă numărătoarea, dela vîrsta de douăzeci de ani în sus, cum poruncise lui Moise şi copiilor lui Israel Domnul, cînd au ieşit din ţara Egiptului.``

“Take a census, from twenty years old and upward; as Yahweh commanded Moses and the children of Israel.” These are those that came out of the land of Egypt.

5 R uben, întîiul născut al lui Israel. Fiii lui Ruben au fost: Enoh, din care se coboară familia Enohiţilor; Palu, din care se coboară familia Paluiţilor;

Reuben, the firstborn of Israel; the sons of Reuben: of Hanoch, the family of the Hanochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites;

6 H eţron, din care se coboară familia Heţroniţilor; Carmi, din care se pogoară familia Carmiţilor.

of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.

7 A cestea sînt familiile Rubeniţilor: cei ieşiţi la numărătoare au fost patruzeci şi trei de mii şapte sute treizeci. -

These are the families of the Reubenites; and those who were numbered of them were forty-three thousand seven hundred thirty.

8 F iii lui Palu au fost: Eliab.

The sons of Pallu: Eliab.

9 F iii lui Eliab au fost: Nemuel, Datan şi Abiram. Datan acesta şi Abiram acesta au fost din ceice erau chemaţi la adunare, şi cari s'au răsculat împotriva lui Moise şi Aaron, în adunarea lui Core, cînd cu răscoala lor împotriva Domnului.

The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. These are that Dathan and Abiram, who were called by the congregation, who rebelled against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they rebelled against Yahweh,

10 P ămîntul şi -a deschis gura, şi i -a înghiţit împreună cu Core, cînd au murit ceice se adunaseră, şi cînd a mistuit focul pe cei două sute cinci zeci de oameni: ei au slujit poporului ca pildă.

and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died; at the time the fire devoured two hundred fifty men, and they became a sign.

11 F iii lui Core, n'au murit.

Notwithstanding, the sons of Korah didn’t die.

12 F iii lui Simeon, după familiile lor: din Nemuel se pogoară familia Nemueliţilor; din Iamin, familia Iaminiţilor; din Iachin, familia Iachiniţilor;

The sons of Simeon after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites; of Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the family of the Jachinites;

13 d in Zerah, familia Zerahiţilor; din Saul, familia Sauliţilor.

of Zerah, the family of the Zerahites; of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites.

14 A cestea sînt familiile Simeoniţilor: douăzeci şi două de mii două sute.

These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty-two thousand two hundred.

15 F iii lui Gad, după familiile lor: din Ţefon se pogoară familia Ţefoniţilor; din Haghi, familia Haghiţilor; din Şuni, familia Şuniţilor;

The sons of Gad after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites; of Haggi, the family of the Haggites; of Shuni, the family of the Shunites;

16 d in Ozni, familia Ozniţilor; din Eri, familia Eriţilor;

of Ozni, the family of the Oznites; of Eri, the family of the Erites;

17 d in Arod, familia Arodiţilor; din Areli, familia Areliţilor.

19 F iii lui Iuda: Er şi Onan; dar Er şi Onan au murit în ţara Canaanului.

The sons of Judah: Er and Onan. Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.

20 I ată fiii lui Iuda, după familiile lor: din Şela se pogoară familia Şelaniţilor; din Pereţ, familia Pereţiţilor; din Zerah, familia Zerahiţilor.

21 F iii lui Pereţ au fost: Heţron, din care se pogoară familia Heţroniţilor; Hamul, din care se pogoară familia Hamuliţilor.

23 F iii lui Isahar, după familiile lor: din Tola se pogoară familia Tolaiţilor; din Puva, familia Puviţilor;

The sons of Issachar after their families: of Tola, the family of the Tolaites; of Puvah, the family of the Punites;

24 d in Iaşub, familia Iaşubiţilor; din Şimron, familia Şimroniţilor.

of Jashub, the family of the Jashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites.

25 A cestea sînt familiile lui Isahar, după numărătoarea lor: şasezeci şi patru de mii trei sute.

These are the families of Issachar according to those who were numbered of them, sixty-four thousand three hundred.

26 F iii lui Zabulon, după familiile lor: din Sered se pogoară familia Serediţilor; din Elon, familia Eloniţilor; din Iahleel, familia Iahleeliţilor.

The sons of Zebulun after their families: of Sered, the family of the Seredites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites.

27 A cestea sînt familiile Zabuloniţilor, după numărătoarea lor: şasezeci de mii cinci sute.

These are the families of the Zebulunites according to those who were numbered of them, sixty thousand five hundred.

28 F iii lui Iosif, după familiile lor: Manase şi Efraim.

The sons of Joseph after their families: Manasseh and Ephraim.

29 F iii lui Manase: din Machir se pogoară familia Machiriţilor. -Machir a născut pe Galaad. Din Galaad se pogoară familia Galaadiţilor.

The sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites; and Machir became the father of Gilead; of Gilead, the family of the Gileadites.

30 I ată fiii lui Galaad: Iezer, din care se pogoară familia Iezeriţilor; Helec, familia Helechiţilor;

These are the sons of Gilead: of Iezer, the family of the Iezerites; of Helek, the family of the Helekites;

31 A sriel, familia Asrieliţilor; Sihem, familia Sihemiţilor;

and Asriel, the family of the Asrielites; and Shechem, the family of the Shechemites;

32 Ş emida, familia Şemidaiţilor; Hefer, familia Heferiţilor.

and Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites; and Hepher, the family of the Hepherites.

33 Ţ elofhad, fiul lui Hefer, n'a avut fii, dar a avut fete. Iată numele fetelor lui Ţelofhad: Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milca şi Tirţa.

Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters: and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

34 A cestea sînt familiile lui Manase, după numărătoarea lor: cincizeci şi două de mii şapte sute.

These are the families of Manasseh. Those who were numbered of them were fifty-two thousand seven hundred.

35 I ată fiii lui Efraim, după familiile lor: din Şutelah se pogoară familia Şutelahiţilor; din Becher, familia Becheriţilor; din Tahan, familia Tahaniţilor.

These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthelahites; of Becher, the family of the Becherites; of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites.

36 I ată fiii lui Şutelah: din Eran se pogoară familia Eraniţilor.

These are the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the family of the Eranites.

37 A cestea sînt familiile fiilor lui Efraim, după numărătoarea lor: treizeci şi două de mii cinci sute. Aceştia sînt fiii lui Iosif, după familiile lor.

These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those who were numbered of them, thirty-two thousand five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph after their families.

38 F iii lui Beniamin, după familiile lor: din Bela se pogoară familia Belaiţilor; din Aşbel, familia Aşbeliţilor; din Ahiram, familia Ahiramiţilor;

The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela, the family of the Belaites; of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites; of Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites;

39 d in Şufam, familia Şufamiţilor; din Hufam, familia Hufamiţilor. -

of Shephupham, the family of the Shuphamites; of Hupham, the family of the Huphamites.

40 F iii lui Bela au fost: Ard şi Naaman. Din Ard se pogoară familia Ardiţilor; din Naaman, familia Naamaniţilor.

The sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman: the family of the Ardites; of Naaman, the family of the Naamites.

41 A ceştia sînt fiii lui Beniamin, după familiile lor şi după numărătoarea lor: patruzeci şi cinci de mii şase sute.

These are the sons of Benjamin after their families; and those who were numbered of them were forty-five thousand six hundred.

42 I ată fiii lui Dan, după familiile lor: din Şuham se pogoară familia Şuhamiţilor. Acestea sînt familiile lui Dan, după familiile lor.

These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shuham, the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan after their families.

43 T oate familiile Şuhamiţilor, după numărătoarea lor: şasezeci şi patru de mii patru sute.

All the families of the Shuhamites, according to those who were numbered of them, were sixty-four thousand four hundred.

44 F iii lui Aşer, după familiile lor: din Imna se pogoară familia Imniţilor; din Işvi, familia Işviţilor; din Beria, familia Beriiţilor. -

The sons of Asher after their families: of Imnah, the family of the Imnites; of Ishvi, the family of the Ishvites; of Beriah, the family of the Berites.

45 D in fiii lui Beria se pogoară: din Heber, familia Heberiţilor; din Malchiel, familia Malchieliţilor.

Of the sons of Beriah: of Heber, the family of the Heberites; of Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites.

46 N umele fetei lui Aşer era Serah.

The name of the daughter of Asher was Serah.

47 A cestea sînt familiile fiilor lui Aşer, după numărătoarea lor: cinci zeci şi trei de mii patru sute.

These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those who were numbered of them, fifty-three thousand and four hundred.

48 F iii lui Neftali, după familiile lor: din Iahţeel se pogoară familia Iahţeeliţilor; din Guni, familia Guniţilor;

The sons of Naphtali after their families: of Jahzeel, the family of the Jahzeelites; of Guni, the family of the Gunites;

49 d in Ieţer, familia Ieţeriţilor; din Şilem, familia Şilemiţilor.

of Jezer, the family of the Jezerites; of Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.

50 A cestea sînt familiile lui Neftali, după familiile lor şi după numărătoarea lor: patruzeci şi cinci de mii patru sute.

These are the families of Naphtali according to their families; and those who were numbered of them were forty-five thousand four hundred.

51 A ceştia sînt cei ieşiţi la numărătoare dintre copiii lui Israel: şase sute una de mii şapte sute treizeci.

These are those who were numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred one thousand seven hundred thirty.

52 D omnul a vorbit lui Moise, şi i -a zis:

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

53 s ă se împartă între ei, ca să fie moştenirea lor, după numărul numelor.

“To these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.

54 C elor ce sînt în număr mai mare să le dai o parte mai mare, şi celor ce sînt în număr mai mic să le dai o parte mai mică; să se dea fiecăruia partea lui după cei ieşiţi la numărătoare.

To the more you shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer you shall give the less inheritance. To everyone according to those who were numbered of him shall his inheritance be given.

55 D ar împărţirea ţării să se facă prin sorţi; s'o ia în stăpînire după numele seminţiilor părinţilor lor.

Notwithstanding, the land shall be divided by lot. According to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.

56 Ţ ara să fie împărţită prin sorţi între cei ce sînt în mare număr şi între cei ce sînt în mic număr.

According to the lot shall their inheritance be divided between the more and the fewer.”

57 I ată Leviţii a căror numărătoare s'a făcut după familiile lor: din Gherşon se pogoară familia Gherşoniţilor; din Chehat, familia Chehatiţilor; din Merari, familia Merariţilor. -

These are those who were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.

58 I ată familiile lui Levi: familia Libniţilor, familia Hebroniţilor, familia Mahliţilor, familia Muşiţilor, familia Coriţilor. Chehat a născut pe Amram.

These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korahites. Kohath became the father of Amram.

59 N umele nevestei lui Amram era Iochebed, fata lui Levi, care i s'a născut lui Levi, în Egipt; ea a născut lui Amram: pe Aaron, pe Moise, şi pe Maria, sora lor.

The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt. She bore to Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.

60 L ui Aaron i s'au născut: Nadab şi Abihu, Eleazar şi Itamar.

To Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

61 N adab şi Abihu au murit, cînd au adus înaintea Domnului foc străin.

Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before Yahweh.

62 C ei ieşiţi la numărătoare, toţi bărbaţii dela vîrsta de o lună în sus, au fost de douăzeci şi trei de mii. Ei n'au fost cuprinşi în numărătoarea copiilor lui Israel, pentrucă nu li s'a dat moştenire în mijlocul copiilor lui Israel.

Those who were numbered of them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.

63 A ceştia sînt aceia dintre copiii lui Israel a căror numărătoare au făcut -o Moise şi preotul Eleazar în cîmpia Moabului, lîngă Iordan, în faţa Ierihonului.

These are those who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.

64 Î ntre ei, nu era niciunul din copiii lui Israel a căror numărătoare o făcuse Moise şi preotul Aaron în pustia Sinai.

But among these there was not a man of them who were numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

65 C ăci Domnul zisese:,, Vor muri în pustie, şi nu va rămînea niciunul din ei, afară de Caleb, fiul lui Iefune, şi Iosua, fiul lui Nun.``

For Yahweh had said of them, “They shall surely die in the wilderness.” There was not a man left of them, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
