1 А когато цар Езекия чу думите му, раздра дрехите си, покри се с вретище и влезе в Господния дом.

And so it was, when King Hezekiah heard it, that he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the Lord.

2 И прати управителя на двореца Елиаким, секретаря Шевна и главните свещеници, покрити с вретища, при пророк Исая, Амосовия син.

Then he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.

3 Т е му казаха: Така казва Езекия: Ден на скръб, на изобличение и на оскърбление е този ден; защото настана часът да се родят децата, но няма сила за раждане.

And they said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah: ‘This day is a day of trouble and rebuke and blasphemy; for the children have come to birth, but there is no strength to bring them forth.

4 М оже би Господ, твоят Бог, ще чуе думите на Рапсак, когото господарят му, асирийският цар, прати да укорява живия Бог, и ще изобличи думите, които Господ, твоят Бог, чу, затова принеси молба за остатъка, който е оцелял.

It may be that the Lord your God will hear the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to reproach the living God, and will rebuke the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”

5 И така, слугите на цар Езекия отидоха при Исая.

So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

6 И сая им каза: Така кажете на господаря си - така казва Господ: Не бой се от думите, които си чул, с които слугите на асирийския цар Ме похулиха.

And Isaiah said to them, “Thus you shall say to your master, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Do not be afraid of the words which you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me.

7 Е то, Аз ще вложа в него такъв дух, че като чуе слух, ще се върне в своята земя; и ще го направя да падне от меч в своята земя.

Surely I will send a spirit upon him, and he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”’” Sennacherib’s Threat and Hezekiah’s Prayer

8 И така, Рапсак, като се върна, разбра, че асирийският цар воюваше против Ливна; защото беше чул, че той заминал от Лахис.

Then the Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, for he heard that he had departed from Lachish.

9 А царят чу да казват за етиопския цар Тирак: Излезе да воюва против теб. И когато чу това, прати посланици до Езекия, като каза:

And the king heard concerning Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, “He has come out to make war with you.” So when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

10 Т ака говорете на Юдейския цар Езекия, кажете му: Твоят Бог, на Когото уповаваш, да не те мами, като казва: Йерусалим няма да бъде предаден в ръката на асирийския цар.

“Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying: ‘Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

11 Е то, ти чу какво са направили асирийските царе на всички земи, как са ги обрекли на изтребление; че ти ли ще се избавиш?

Look! You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered?

12 Б оговете на народите избавиха ли онези, които бащите ми изтребиха: Гозан, Харан, Ресеф и еденяните, които бяха в Таласар?

Have the gods of the nations delivered those whom my fathers have destroyed, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar?

13 К ъде са ематският цар, арфадският цар и царят на града Сефаруим, на Ена и на Ава?

Where is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?’”

14 А когато Езекия взе писмото от ръката на посланиците и го прочете, Езекия отиде в Господния дом и го разгъна пред Господа.

And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord.

15 И Езекия се помоли пред Господа:

Then Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, saying:

16 Г осподи на Силите, Боже Израелев, Който седиш между херувимите, Ти и само Ти си Бог на всички земни царства; Ти си направил небето и земята.

“O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

17 П риклони, Господи, ухото Си и чуй; отвори, Господи, очите Си и виж; чуй всички думи на Сенахирим, който го изпрати да похули живия Бог.

Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear; open Your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God.

18 Н аистина, Господи, асирийските царе запустиха всичките области и земите им;

Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands,

19 и хвърлиха в огън боговете им, защото не бяха богове, а дело на човешки ръце, дървета и камъни; затова ги погубиха.

and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them.

20 И така, сега, Господи, Боже наш, отърви ни от ръката му, за да познаят всички земни царства, че Ти си Господ, единственият Бог.

Now therefore, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord, You alone.” The Word of the Lord Concerning Sennacherib

21 Т огава Исая, Амосовият син, прати до Езекия да кажат: Така казва Господ, Израелевият Бог: Чух това, за което си се помолил на Мене против асирийския цар Сенахирим.

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the Lord God of Israel, ‘Because you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria,

22 Е то словото, което Господ изговори за него: Презря те, присмя ти се девицата, сионовата дъщеря; зад гърба ти поклати глава йерусалимската дъщеря.

this is the word which the Lord has spoken concerning him: “The virgin, the daughter of Zion, Has despised you, laughed you to scorn; The daughter of Jerusalem Has shaken her head behind your back!

23 К ого си обидил и похулил ти? И против кого си говорил с висок глас и си надигнал нагоре очите си? Против Святия Израелев.

“Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice, And lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.

24 Г оспода си обидил ти чрез слугите си, като си казал: С множеството на колесниците си излязох аз върху височината на планините, върху уединенията на Ливан; и ще изсека високите му кедри, отбраните му елхи; и ще вляза в най-крайната му височина, в гората на неговия Кармил.

By your servants you have reproached the Lord, And said, ‘By the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, To the limits of Lebanon; I will cut down its tall cedars And its choice cypress trees; I will enter its farthest height, To its fruitful forest.

25 А з изкопах и пих вода; и със стъпалото на краката си ще пресуша всички реки на Египет.

I have dug and drunk water, And with the soles of my feet I have dried up All the brooks of defense.’

26 Н е си ли чул, че Аз съм наредил това отдавна и от древни времена съм начертал това? А сега го изпълних, така че ти да превръщаш укрепени градове в купове развалини.

“Did you not hear long ago How I made it, From ancient times that I formed it? Now I have brought it to pass, That you should be For crushing fortified cities into heaps of ruins.

27 З атова жителите им станаха безсилни, уплашиха се и се посрамиха; бяха като трева на полето, като зеленина, като трева на покрива на къщата и жито, прегоряло преди да изкласи стъбло;

Therefore their inhabitants had little power; They were dismayed and confounded; They were as the grass of the field And the green herb, As the grass on the housetops And grain blighted before it is grown.

28 н о Аз зная жилището ти, излизането ти и влизането ти, и буйството ти против Мене.

“But I know your dwelling place, Your going out and your coming in, And your rage against Me.

29 П онеже буйството ти против Мен и надменността ти стигнаха до ушите ми, затова ще сложа куката Си в ноздрите ти и юздата Си - в устата ти, и ще те върна по пътя, по който си дошъл.

Because your rage against Me and your tumult Have come up to My ears, Therefore I will put My hook in your nose And My bridle in your lips, And I will turn you back By the way which you came.”’

30 И това ще ти бъде знамението: Тази година ще ядете това, което е саморасло, втората година - това, което израства от същото, а третата година посейте и пожънете, насадете лозя и яжте плода им.

“This shall be a sign to you: You shall eat this year such as grows of itself, And the second year what springs from the same; Also in the third year sow and reap, Plant vineyards and eat the fruit of them.

31 И оцелялото от Юдейския дом, което е останало, пак ще пуска корени долу и ще дава плод горе.

And the remnant who have escaped of the house of Judah Shall again take root downward, And bear fruit upward.

32 З ащото от Йерусалим ще излезе остатък и от хълма Сион - оцелялото. Ревността на Господа на Силите ще извърши това.

For out of Jerusalem shall go a remnant, And those who escape from Mount Zion. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

33 З атова така казва Господ за асирийския цар: Няма да влезе в този град, нито ще хвърли там стрела, нито ще дойде пред него с щит, нито ще издигне против него могила;

“Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: ‘He shall not come into this city, Nor shoot an arrow there, Nor come before it with shield, Nor build a siege mound against it.

34 п о пътя, по който е дошъл, по него ще се върне и в този град няма да влезе, казва Господ;

By the way that he came, By the same shall he return; And he shall not come into this city,’ Says the Lord.

35 з ащото ще защитя този град, за да го избавя, заради Себе Си и заради слугата Ми Давид.

‘For I will defend this city, to save it For My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.’” Sennacherib’s Defeat and Death

36 Т огава излезе ангел Господен и порази сто осемдесет и пет хиляди души в асирийския стан; и когато хората станаха на сутринта, ето, всички онези бяха мъртви трупове.

Then the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.

37 И така асирийският цар Сенахирим си тръгна и отиде, върна се и живееше в Ниневия.

So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and went away, returned home, and remained at Nineveh.

38 А докато се кланяше в светилището на бога си Нисрох, неговите синове Адрамелех и Сарасар го убиха с меч; и побегнаха в Араратската земя. А вместо него се възцари синът му Есарадон.

Now it came to pass, as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, that his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. Then Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place.
