1 S trive, O Jehovah, with them that strive with me; fight against them that fight against me:

Señor, defiéndeme de mis oponentes; combate a los que me atacan.

2 T ake hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help;

Echa mano del escudo y del pavés, y ven pronto en mi ayuda.

3 A nd draw out the spear, and stop against my pursuers: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

Toma una lanza y ataca a mis perseguidores, y dile a mi alma: «Yo soy tu salvación».

4 L et them be put to shame and confounded that seek after my life; let them be turned backward and brought to confusion that devise my hurt:

¡Haz que queden confundidos y en vergüenza los que quieren matarme! ¡Que retrocedan y queden confundidos los que buscan mi mal!

5 L et them be as chaff before the wind, and let the angel of Jehovah drive away;

¡Que sean como el tamo que arrebata el viento! ¡Que el ángel del Señor los acose!

6 L et their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of Jehovah pursue them.

¡Que sea su camino oscuro y peligroso! ¡Que el ángel del Señor los persiga!

7 F or without cause have they hidden for me their net a pit; without cause they have digged for my soul.

Sin motivo, ellos me tendieron una trampa; sin motivo, cavaron un hoyo para mí.

8 L et destruction come upon him unawares, and let his net which he hath hidden catch himself: for destruction let him fall therein.

¡Que sean quebrantados de repente, y caigan en la trampa que antes me tendieron! ¡Que caigan en ella, para su desgracia!

9 A nd my soul shall be joyful in Jehovah; it shall rejoice in his salvation.

Entonces yo me alegraré en el Señor; ¡me regocijaré en su salvación!

10 A ll my bones shall say, Jehovah, who is like unto thee, who deliverest the afflicted from one stronger than he, yea, the afflicted and the needy from him that spoileth him!

Todos mis huesos exclamarán: «Señor, ¿quién puede compararse a ti? ¡Tú libras de los fuertes a los débiles! ¡Tú libras de sus opresores a los menesterosos!»

11 U nrighteous witnesses rise up; they lay to my charge things which I know not.

Unos testigos violentos se levantan y me interrogan acerca de cosas que yo ignoro.

12 T hey reward me evil for good, the bereavement of my soul.

Me pagan mal el bien que les hice, y eso me duele en el alma.

13 B ut as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I chastened my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned into mine own bosom:

Si estaban enfermos, yo me preocupaba; ayunaba y me vestía de cilicio. ¡Quisiera que mis oraciones volvieran a mí!

14 I behaved myself as though a friend, a brother to me; I bowed down in sadness, as one that mourneth a mother.

Yo manifestaba mi tristeza por ellos vistiéndome de luto, como por un hermano; ¡como si hubiera muerto mi propia madre!

15 B ut at my halting they rejoiced, and gathered together: the slanderers gathered themselves together against me, and I knew not; they did tear, and ceased not:

Pero caí, y ellos se juntaron contra mí; se junto contra mí gente despreciable, gente que yo no conocía, y me maltrataron sin descanso.

16 W ith profane jesters for bread, they have gnashed their teeth against me.

¡Como auténticos truhanes y malvivientes, rechinaban los dientes contra mí!

17 L ord, how long wilt thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, my only one from the young lions.

Señor, ¿cuánto más seguirás viendo esto? ¡Salva mi vida de las garras de estos leones! ¡Es la única vida que tengo!

18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation; I will praise thee among much people.

Yo hablaré de ti en medio de la multitud; ¡te alabaré delante de todo el pueblo!

19 L et not them that are wrongfully mine enemies rejoice over me; let them not wink with the eye that hate me without cause.

¡No dejes que se burlen de mí los que sin causa me ven como enemigo, ni tampoco los que me odian sin motivo, ésos que se hacen señas con los ojos!

20 F or they speak not peace; and they devise deceitful words against the quiet in the land.

Son gente que no busca la paz, sino que urden planes engañosos en contra de gente inocente.

21 A nd they opened their mouth wide against me; they said, Aha! aha! our eye hath seen.

Se carcajean al hablar de mí, y exclaman: «¡Ja, ja! ¡Miren lo que hemos llegado a ver!»

22 T hou hast seen, Jehovah: keep not silence; O Lord, be not far from me.

Pero tú, Señor, eres testigo; ¡no te quedes callado, ni te alejes de mí!

23 S tir up thyself, and awake for my right, for my cause, my God and Lord!

¡Señor, levántate a defenderme! ¡Dios mío, levántate y hazme justicia!

24 J udge me, Jehovah my God, according to thy righteousness, and let them not rejoice over me.

Señor y Dios, ¡júzgame según tu justicia, para que nadie se burle de mí!

25 L et them not say in their heart, Aha! so would we have it. Let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

Que nadie piense en su corazón: «¡Se cumplió nuestro deseo de verlo derrotado!»

26 L et them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine adversity; let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.

Que la vergüenza y la confusión sean para los que buscan mi mal. Que se queden avergonzados y confundidos los que se engrandecen contra mí.

27 L et them exult and rejoice that delight in my righteousness; and let them say continually, Jehovah be magnified, who delighteth in the prosperity of his servant.

Pero que canten y se alegren los que están a mi favor. Que digan siempre: «¡Grande es el Señor, pues se deleita en el bienestar de su siervo!»

28 A nd my tongue shall talk of thy righteousness, of thy praise, all the day.

Con mi lengua proclamaré tu justicia, y a todas horas te alabaré.
