1 A nd Jehovah spoke to Moses in mount Sinai, saying,

El Señor habló con Moisés en el monte Sinaí, y le dijo:

2 S peak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, When ye come into the land that I will give you, the land shall celebrate a sabbath to Jehovah.

«Habla con los hijos de Israel, y diles que cuando entren en la tierra que yo les doy, la tierra deberá reposar en honor al Señor.

3 S ix years shalt thou sow thy field, and six years shalt thou prune thy vineyard, and gather in the produce thereof,

Cultivarás la tierra durante seis años, y durante esos seis años podarás tus viñas y recogerás sus frutos,

4 b ut in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest for the land, a sabbath to Jehovah. Thy field shalt thou not sow, and thy vineyard shalt thou not prune.

pero el séptimo año la tierra tendrá que reposar. Es un reposo en honor del Señor, y no debes cultivar tu tierra ni podar tus viñas.

5 T hat which springeth up from the scattered seed of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, and the grapes of thine undressed vines thou shalt not gather: a year of rest shall it be for the land.

No podrás cosechar lo que nazca de manera natural en tu tierra segada, ni podrás recoger las uvas de tu viñedo. Será para la tierra un año de reposo,

6 A nd the sabbath of the land shall be for food for you, for thee, and for thy bondman, and for thy handmaid, and for thy hired servant, and for him that dwelleth as a sojourner with thee, and for thy cattle,

Pero durante ese reposo la tierra producirá alimento para ti y para tus siervos y siervas, y para tus criados y los extranjeros que residan contigo.

7 a nd for the beasts that are in thy land: all the produce thereof shall be for food.

Todo los frutos que la tierra produzca serán para que coman tus animales y las bestias salvajes.

8 A nd thou shalt count seven sabbaths of years, seven times seven years; so that the days of the seven sabbaths of years be unto thee forty-nine years.

»Contarás además siete semanas de años, es decir, siete veces siete años, de modo que las siete semanas de años den un total de cuarenta y nueve años.

9 T hen shalt thou cause the loud sound of the trumpet to go forth in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month; on the day of atonement shall ye cause the trumpet to go forth throughout your land.

Y el día diez del mes séptimo, que es el día de la expiación, ordenarás que se toque la trompeta con fuerza por todo el país.

10 A nd ye shall hallow the year of the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty in the land unto all the inhabitants thereof; a jubilee shall it be unto you, and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family;

El año cincuenta será declarado año sagrado, y ustedes anunciarán la libertad para todos los habitantes del país. Será para ustedes un año de jubileo, y cada uno de ustedes volverá a su familia y a su patrimonio familiar.

11 a year of jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap its aftergrowth, nor gather its undressed vines.

El año cincuenta será para ustedes de jubileo. No sembrarán, ni cosecharán lo que la tierra produzca de manera natural, ni vendimiarán sus viñedos.

12 F or it is the jubilee; it shall be holy unto you; out of the field shall ye eat its produce.

Es un año de jubileo, y será para ustedes un año sagrado. Sólo podrán comer lo que la tierra produzca.

13 I n this year of the jubilee ye shall return every man unto his possession.

»En este año de jubileo cada uno de ustedes recuperará su patrimonio familiar.

14 A nd if ye sell ought unto your neighbour, or buy of your neighbour's hand, ye shall not overreach one another.

Si venden algo a su prójimo, o le compran, no se hagan trampa.

15 A ccording to the number of years since the jubilee, thou shalt buy of thy neighbour; according to the number of years of the produce, he shall sell unto thee.

Una vez pasado el jubileo, comprarás de tu prójimo según el número de años transcurridos, y él te venderá a ti según el número de cosechas que haya recogido.

16 A ccording to the greater number of the years, thou shalt increase the price thereof; and according to the fewness of years, thou shalt diminish the price of it; for it is the number of crops that he selleth unto thee.

El precio aumentará o disminuirá, dependiendo del número de años transcurridos, porque lo que él te venderá es el número de cosechas.

17 A nd ye shall not oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God; for I am Jehovah your God.

»No se hagan trampas el uno al otro. Al contrario, demuestren que tienen temor de mí, porque yo soy el Señor su Dios.

18 A nd ye shall do my statutes, and observe mine ordinances and do them: thus shall ye dwell in your land securely.

»Cumplan con mis estatutos y ordenanzas. Pónganlos en práctica, y habitarán tranquilos en el país;

19 A nd the land shall yield its fruit, and ye shall eat and be satisfied, and dwell therein securely.

la tierra dará sus frutos, y ustedes comerán hasta saciarse y habitarán tranquilos en ella.

20 A nd if ye say, What shall we eat in the seventh year? behold, we may not sow, nor gather in our produce;

Y si acaso se preguntan: “¿Y qué vamos a comer el séptimo año, si no vamos a sembrar ni a cosechar nuestros productos?”,

21 t hen I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, that it may bring forth produce for three years;

yo los bendeciré el sexto año, y la tierra dará frutos para tres años.

22 a nd ye shall sow in the eighth year, and ye shall eat of the old fruit until the ninth year; until her produce come in, ye shall eat the old.

Así en el año octavo ustedes sembrarán, y mientras tanto comerán del fruto añejo hasta el año noveno, y tendrán comida hasta que puedan cosechar.

23 A nd the land shall not be sold for ever; for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.

»La tierra no podrá venderse a perpetuidad, porque la tierra es mía. Ustedes son, para mí, forasteros y extranjeros.

24 A nd in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.

Por lo tanto, en toda la tierra que ustedes posean, deberán conceder el derecho a rescatarla.

25 I f thy brother grow poor, and sell of his possession, then shall his redeemer, his nearest relation, come and redeem that which his brother sold.

»Si tu hermano empobrece, y vende alguna posesión suya, su pariente más cercano podrá acudir al rescate de lo que su hermano haya vendido.

26 A nd if the man have no one having right of redemption, and his hand have acquired and found what sufficeth for its redemption,

»Si el que vendió no tiene quien pague el rescate, pero consigue lo suficiente para pagarlo,

27 t hen shall he reckon the years since the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; and so return unto his possession.

contará los años transcurridos desde la venta y pagará la diferencia al comprador, y la propiedad volverá a sus manos.

28 A nd if his hand have not found what sufficeth for him to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of the purchaser, until the year of jubilee; and in the jubilee it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.

Pero si no consigue lo suficiente para recuperar la propiedad, ésta se quedará hasta el año del jubileo en poder del que la compró, y en el año del jubileo podrá volver a su posesión.

29 A nd if any one sell a dwelling-house in a walled city, then he shall have the right of redemption up to the end of the year of the sale thereof; for a full year shall he have the right of redemption.

»El que venda una casa habitable en una ciudad amurallada tendrá el derecho de redimirla durante un año a partir de la venta; un año será el tiempo límite para poder redimirla.

30 B ut if it be not redeemed until a whole year is complete, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it, throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubilee.

En caso de que la casa en la ciudad amurallada no sea rescatada en el término de un año, no quedará liberada en el jubileo, sino que se quedará para siempre en poder del que la compró y de sus descendientes.

31 B ut the houses in villages that have no wall round about them shall be reckoned as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubilee.

»Las casas en aldeas no amuralladas serán consideradas como un terreno en el campo, y podrán ser rescatadas y quedarán liberadas en el jubileo.

32 B ut as to the cities of the Levites, the houses in the cities of their possession, the Levites shall have a perpetual right of redemption.

»En cuanto a las ciudades de los levitas, éstos podrán rescatar en cualquier momento las casas que estén en las ciudades de su posesión.

33 A nd if any one redeem from one of the Levites, then the house that was sold, in the city of his possession, shall go out in the jubilee; for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.

Si alguien le compra a un levita, en el jubileo saldrá de la casa vendida, o de la ciudad de su posesión, puesto que las casas de las ciudades de los levitas son la posesión de ellos entre los hijos de Israel.

34 A nd the field of the suburbs of their cities shall not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.

»Los terrenos ejidales de sus ciudades no se venderán, porque son su posesión perpetua.

35 A nd if thy brother grow poor, and he be fallen into decay beside thee, then thou shalt relieve him, stranger or sojourner, that he may live beside thee.

»Si tu hermano empobrece y busca tu ayuda, tú lo ampararás; vivirá contigo como si fuera un forastero y extranjero.

36 T hou shalt take no usury nor increase of him; and thou shalt fear thy God; that thy brother may live beside thee.

Si le prestas dinero, no le pedirás que te pague intereses o ganancias; al contrario, tendrás temor de tu Dios, y tu hermano vivirá contigo.

37 T hy money shalt thou not give him upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.

No le prestarás dinero ni víveres a la manera de los usureros.

38 I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, to be your God.

Yo soy el Señor su Dios, que los sacó de la tierra de Egipto para darles la tierra de Canaán y para ser su Dios.

39 A nd if thy brother grow poor beside thee, and be sold unto thee, thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:

»Si tu hermano empobrece, y estando contigo te pide comprarlo, no lo tratarás como a un esclavo.

40 a s a hired servant, as a sojourner, shall he be with thee; until the year of jubilee shall he serve thee.

Vivirá contigo como criado y como extranjero, y te servirá hasta el año del jubileo.

41 T hen shall he depart from thee, he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.

Ese año saldrá libre de tu casa, junto con sus hijos, para volver a su familia y reintegrarse a la propiedad de sus padres.

42 F or they are my bondmen, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as sell bondmen.

Y es que ellos son mis siervos. Yo los saqué de la tierra de Egipto, así que no serán vendidos como esclavos.

43 T hou shalt not rule over him with rigour; and thou shalt fear thy God.

No lo tratarás con crueldad, sino que tendrás temor de tu Dios.

44 A nd as for thy bondman and thy handmaid whom thou shalt have—of the nations that are round about you, of them shall ye buy bondmen and handmaids.

»Si llegas a tener esclavos y esclavas, cómpralos de los pueblos a tu alrededor.

45 M oreover of the children of them that dwell as sojourners with you, of them may ye buy, and of their family that is with you, which they beget in your land, and they shall be your possession.

También podrás comprar a los hijos de los forasteros que vivan entre ustedes y a los de las familias de esclavos que nazcan entre ustedes. A ellos podrán tenerlos como su posesión,

46 A nd ye shall leave them as an inheritance to your children after you, to inherit them as a possession: these may ye make your bondmen for ever; but as for your brethren, the children of Israel, ye shall not rule over one another with rigour.

y podrán dejárselos a sus hijos después de ustedes como herencia. Serán su posesión hereditaria, y para siempre serán sus esclavos, pero no serán los amos de sus hermanos israelitas, ni los tratarán con crueldad.

47 A nd if a stranger or sojourner become wealthy beside thee, and thy brother beside him grow poor, and sell himself unto the stranger, who is settled by thee, or to a scion of the stranger's family,

»Si el forastero o el extranjero que viva contigo llega a ser rico, y tu hermano que está junto a él empobrece y se vende como esclavo a ese forastero o extranjero, o a alguno de su familia,

48 a fter that he is sold there shall be right of redemption for him; one of his brethren may redeem him.

después de haberse vendido podrá ser rescatado por alguno de sus hermanos,

49 E ither his uncle or his uncle's son may redeem him, or one of his next relations of his family may redeem him; or if his means be sufficient, he may redeem himself.

sea éste su tío o su sobrino, o un pariente cercano de su familia. Cualquiera de ellos podrá rescatarlo y, si sus medios lo permiten, hasta él mismo podrá rescatarse.

50 A nd he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubilee; and the price of his sale shall be according to the number of the years, according to the days of a hired servant shall he be with him.

Hará la cuenta con el que lo compró, desde el año en que se vendió a él hasta el año del jubileo, y el precio de su venta habrá de calcularse conforme al número de años, y el tiempo que estuvo con él se calculará como si todo ese tiempo hubiera estado asalariado.

51 I f there are yet many years, according unto them shall he return his redemption out of the money that he was bought for;

Si aún faltan muchos años para su rescate, del dinero por el que se vendió devolverá la cantidad correspondiente a esos años.

52 a nd if there remain but few years unto the year of jubilee, then he shall reckon with him; according unto his years shall he give him back his redemption.

Pero si falta poco tiempo para el año del jubileo, entonces hará un cálculo y devolverá al comprador el rescate correspondiente a esos años.

53 A s a hired servant shall he be with him year by year; shall not rule with rigour over him before thine eyes.

»Ustedes no deberán permitir que el comprador lo trate con crueldad, sino que deberá tratarlo como al que trabaja por un salario anual.

54 A nd if he be not redeemed in this manner, then he shall go out in the year of jubilee, he and his children with him.

Si el que se vendió no es rescatado durante esos años, en el año del jubileo obtendrá su libertad, junto con sus hijos.

55 F or the children of Israel are servants unto me; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am Jehovah your God.

Porque los hijos de Israel son mis siervos. Yo los saqué de la tierra de Egipto. Yo soy el Señor su Dios.
