1 A t that time Merodach-Baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent a letter and a present to Hezekiah; for he had heard that he had been sick and had recovered.

Por esos días Merodac Baladán hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia, se enteró de que Ezequías había estado enfermo, pero que ya había convalecido, así que le envió cartas y presentes.

2 A nd Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver and the gold, and the spices and the fine oil, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found amongst his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah did not shew them.

Eso fue motivo de mucha alegría para Ezequías, así que les mostró a los enviados la casa de su tesoro, el oro y la plata, las especias y los ungüentos preciosos, y todo su arsenal y lo que se hallaba en sus tesoros. No hubo nada en su casa y en todos sus dominios que Ezequías no les mostrara.

3 T hen came the prophet Isaiah to king Hezekiah, and said to him, What said these men? and from whence came they to thee? And Hezekiah said, They came from a far country to me, from Babylon.

Entonces el profeta Isaías fue a ver al rey Ezequías, y le dijo: «¿Qué quiere de ti esa gente? ¿De dónde ha venido?» Ezequías le respondió: «Han venido a verme desde un país muy lejano. Han venido de Babilonia.»

4 A nd he said, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah said, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewn them.

Isaías dijo entonces: «¿Y qué han visto en tu casa?» Y Ezequías contestó: «Han visto todo lo que hay en mi casa. No hay nada en mis tesoros que yo no les haya mostrado.»

5 A nd Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the word of Jehovah of hosts:

Isaías le dijo entonces a Ezequías: «Oye la palabra del Señor de los ejércitos:

6 B ehold, days come when all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith Jehovah.

“Vienen días en que todo lo que hay en tu casa, y todo lo que tus padres han atesorado hasta el día de hoy, será llevado a Babilonia; No quedará una sola cosa.” El Señor lo ha dicho.

7 A nd of thy sons that shall issue from thee, whom thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

A los hijos que tengas y que engendres se los llevarán a Babilonia, y allí los convertirán en eunucos del palacio del rey.»

8 A nd Hezekiah said to Isaiah, Good is the word of Jehovah which thou hast spoken. And he said, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

Ezequías le respondió a Isaías: «Es buena la palabra del Señor que me has comunicado. ¡Que al menos haya paz y seguridad mientras yo viva!»
