1 H ear, O God, my voice in my plaint; preserve my life from fear of the enemy:

Dios mío, ¡escucha la voz de mi queja! ¡Protege mi vida de mi temible enemigo!

2 H ide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers, from the tumultuous crowd of the workers of iniquity,

¡Escóndeme de esa caterva de malhechores, que en secreto conspiran y hacen planes malvados!

3 W ho have sharpened their tongue like a sword, have aimed their arrow, a bitter word;

Afilan su lengua, como si fuera una espada; lanzan acres invectivas, como si fueran saetas,

4 T hat they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

y a escondidas hieren al hombre íntegro. Lo atacan de repente y sin temor alguno;

5 T hey encourage themselves in an evil matter, they concert to hide snares; they say, Who will see them?

obstinados en cumplir sus inicuos designios, pretenden disimular sus trampas, creyendo que nadie los va a ver.

6 T hey devise iniquities: We have it ready, the plan is diligently sought out. And each one's inward and heart is deep.

Elucubran iniquidades, investigan al detalle; y sus ideas son tan incomprensibles que no es posible penetrar en ellos.

7 B ut God will shoot an arrow at them: suddenly are they wounded;

¡Pero Dios los herirá con sus saetas! ¡Sus plagas les sobrevendrán de repente!

8 B y their own tongue they are made to fall over one another: all that see them shall flee away.

Su propia lengua les será un tropiezo, y serán la burla de todos los que los vean.

9 A nd all men shall fear, and shall declare God's doing; and they shall wisely consider his work.

Entonces la humanidad entera sentirá temor, y todos proclamarán las obras de Dios y entenderán el porque de sus acciones.

10 T he righteous shall rejoice in Jehovah, and trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

Los justos se regocijarán en el Señor y pondrán en él su confianza. ¡Todos los rectos de corazón lo alabarán!
