1 A nd the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, and came to Jerusalem to prove Solomon with enigmas; with a very great train, and camels that bore spices and gold in great abundance, and precious stones; and she came to Solomon, and spoke with him of all that was in her heart.

Cuando la reina de Sabá supo de la fama de Salomón, llegó a Jerusalén para ponerlo a prueba y hacerle preguntas difíciles. Llegó con un séquito muy grande. Traía camellos cargados de especias aromáticas, oro en abundancia, y piedras preciosas. Cuando se presentó ante Salomón, le habló con el corazón en la mano,

2 A nd Solomon explained to her all she spoke of, and there was not a thing hidden from Solomon that he did not explain to her.

y Salomón dio respuesta a todas sus preguntas. No hubo nada que Salomón no le respondiera.

3 A nd when the queen of Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

Y al ver la reina de Sabá la sabiduría de Salomón, el palacio que había construido,

4 a nd the food of his table, and the deportment of his servants, and the order of service of his attendants and their apparel, and his cupbearers and their apparel, and his ascent by which he went up to the house of Jehovah, there was no more spirit in her.

las viandas de su mesa, las habitaciones de sus oficiales, y el estado y vestidos de sus criados y maestresalas, y la escalinata por la que subía al templo del Señor, se quedó asombrada.

5 A nd she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thine affairs and of thy wisdom;

Entonces le dijo: «Todo lo que llegué a saber en mi país acerca de tus hechos y de tu sabiduría, es verdad.

6 b ut I gave no credit to their words, until I came and mine eyes had seen; and behold, the half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: thou exceedest the report that I heard.

Yo no podía creer lo que me contaban, hasta que vine y lo vi con mis propios ojos. Y lo cierto es que ni siquiera me habían dicho la mitad de tu gran sabiduría. ¡Tu fama excede a todo lo que yo había oído!

7 H appy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, who stand continually before thee and hear thy wisdom!

¡Qué dichosos son tus hombres, y tus siervos que están siempre en tu presencia y oyen tu sabiduría!

8 B lessed be Jehovah thy God, who delighted in thee, to set thee on his throne, to be king to Jehovah thy God! Because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore did he make thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.

¡Bendito sea el Señor tu Dios, que se ha agradado de ti y te ha puesto en el trono, como rey del Señor tu Dios! ¡Tanto ama tu Dios a Israel, que lo ha afirmarlo para siempre, y por eso te ha puesto como rey de ellos, para que impartas justicia y actúes con rectitud!»

9 A nd she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in very great abundance, and precious stones; neither was there any such spice as that which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

Dicho esto, le dio al rey tres mil novecientos sesenta kilos de oro y gran cantidad de especias aromáticas, y piedras preciosas. Nunca más hubo especias aromáticas como las que la reina de Sabá le obsequió al rey Salomón.

10 ( And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, brought sandal-wood and precious stones.

Por su parte, los siervos de Jirán y los siervos de Salomón, que habían traído el oro de Ofir, trajeron también madera de sándalo y piedras preciosas.

11 A nd the king made of the sandal-wood stairs for the house of Jehovah, and for the king's house, and harps and lutes for the singers. And there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.)

Con la madera de sándalo el rey hizo escalinatas para el templo del Señor y para los palacios reales, y también arpas y salterios para los cantores. Nunca antes se había visto en la tierra de Judá madera semejante.

12 A nd king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, besides what she had brought to the king. And she turned and went to her own land, she and her servants.

El rey Salomón le dio a la reina de Sabá todo lo que ella quiso y le pidió, que fue más de lo que ella le había traído. Después de eso, ella volvió a su país acompañada de sus siervos. Riquezas y fama de Salomón

13 A nd the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold,

El peso del oro que Salomón recibía cada año llegaba a veintidós mil kilos,

14 b esides dealers and merchants brought, and all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the country brought of gold and silver to Solomon.

sin contar lo que le entregaban los mercaderes y negociantes. También todos los reyes de Arabia y los gobernadores del país entregaban oro y plata a Salomón.

15 A nd king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold,—he applied six hundred of beaten gold to one target;

Con ello el rey Salomón hizo doscientos escudos de oro batido, cada uno de los cuales pesaba seis kilos,

16 a nd three hundred shields of beaten gold,—he applied three hundred of gold to one shield; and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

y trescientos escudos más pequeños, de oro batido, cada uno de los cuales pesaba tres kilos. Estos escudos los puso el rey en el palacio del bosque del Líbano.

17 A nd the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold;

El rey hizo también un trono de marfil de gran tamaño, y lo recubrió de oro puro.

18 a nd the throne had six steps, with a footstool of gold fastened to the throne; and there were arms on each side at the place of the seat, and two lions stood beside the arms;

El trono tenía seis escalones, con un estrado de oro fijado al trono, brazos a uno y otro lado del asiento, y dos leones junto a los brazos;

19 a nd twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps: there was not the like made in any kingdom.

además, a uno y otro lado de los seis escalones había doce leones. Jamás en reino alguno fue hecho un trono semejante.

20 A nd all king Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of precious gold: silver was not of the least account in the days of Solomon.

Toda la vajilla del rey Salomón, y toda la vajilla del palacio del bosque del Líbano, eran de oro puro. Y es que en los días de Salomón la plata no era muy apreciada,

21 F or the king's ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram: once in three years came the ships of Tarshish, bringing gold and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

porque la flota del rey navegaba a Tarsis con los siervos de Jirán, y cada tres años las naves volvían de Tarsis trayendo oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos reales.

22 A nd king Solomon was greater than all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

La riqueza y la sabiduría del rey Salomón excedía a la de todos los reyes de la tierra.

23 A nd all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

No había rey que no procurara entrevistarse con Salomón para escuchar la sabiduría que Dios le había dado,

24 A nd they brought every man his present, vessels of silver and vessels of gold, and clothing, armour, and spices, horses and mules, a rate year by year.

y todos los años llegaban con regalos, alhajas de plata y de oro, vestidos, armas, perfumes, caballos y mulos.

25 A nd Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; and he placed them in the chariot-cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

Salomón tenía también cuatro mil caballerizas para sus caballos y carros de guerra, y doce mil jinetes, los cuales estaban en las ciudades de los carros, y en Jerusalén, con el rey,

26 A nd he ruled over all the kings from the river as far as the land of the Philistines, and up to the border of Egypt.

que ejercía su dominio sobre todos los reyes, desde el Éufrates hasta el país de los filisteos, y hasta la frontera de Egipto.

27 A nd the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he as the sycamores that are in the lowland for abundance.

Salomón acumuló plata en Jerusalén como si acumulara piedras, y la madera de cedro abundaba como los cabrahigos de la llanura.

28 A nd they brought to Solomon horses out of Egypt, and out of all lands.

Además, de Egipto y de otros países le traían también caballos. Muerte de Salomón

29 A nd the rest of the acts of Solomon first and last, are they not written in the words of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

Los demás hechos de Salomón, primeros y últimos, están todos escritos en los libros del profeta Natán, en la profecía de Ajías el silonita, y en la profecía del vidente Iddo contra Jeroboán hijo de Nabat.

30 A nd Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

Durante cuarenta años Salomón reinó en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel.

31 A nd Solomon slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David his father; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

Cuando finalmente descansó entre sus antepasados, lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, su padre, y en su lugar reinó Roboán, su hijo.
