1 A nd David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

David volvió a reunir a todos los mejores soldados de Israel, que sumaban treinta mil.

2 A nd David arose and went with all the people that were with him from Baale-Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God which is called by the name, the name of Jehovah of hosts who sitteth between the cherubim.

Partió de Baalá de Judá con todo su ejército, para trasladar de allí el arca de Dios, donde se invocaba el nombre del Señor de los ejércitos, que habita entre los querubines.

3 A nd they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was upon the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart.

Sacaron el arca de Dios de la casa de Abinadab, que estaba sobre una colina, y la pusieron sobre un carro nuevo al que iban guiando Uzá y Ajió, los hijos de Abinadab.

4 A nd they brought it with the ark of God out of the house of Abinadab which was upon the hill; and Ahio went before the ark.

Cuando sacaron de la casa de Abinadab el arca de Dios, Ajió iba delante del carro,

5 A nd David and all the house of Israel played before Jehovah on all manner of cypress wood, with harps, and with lutes, and with tambours, and with sistra, and with cymbals.

mientras que David y todo el pueblo danzaban alegremente delante del Señor, al son de instrumentos musicales de madera de haya, y de arpas, salterios, panderos, flautas y címbalos.

6 A nd when they came to Nachon's threshing-floor, Uzzah reached after the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen had stumbled.

Al llegar a la era de Nacón, los bueyes tropezaron y Uzá estiró la mano para sujetar el arca.

7 A nd the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

Pero el Señor se enojó muchísimo contra Uzá por haberse atrevido a tocar el arca, y allí mismo hirió a Uzá, y éste cayó fulminado.

8 A nd David was indignant, because Jehovah had made a breach upon Uzzah; and he called that place Perez-Uzzah to this day.

David se puso muy triste de que el Señor hubiera dado muerte a Uzá, y desde entonces aquel lugar se llama «Peres Uzá».

9 A nd David was afraid of Jehovah that day, and said, How shall the ark of Jehovah come to me?

David tuvo entonces temor del Señor, y se preguntaba: «¿Cómo puedo pensar en llevarme el arca del Señor?»

10 S o David would not bring the ark of Jehovah home unto himself into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

Entonces ordenó que, en lugar de llevar el arca del Señor a la ciudad de David, la llevaran a la casa de Obed Edom, el de Gat,.

11 A nd the ark of Jehovah remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months; and Jehovah blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.

Y así, el arca del Señor se quedó tres meses en la casa del gatita Obed Edom, y Dios lo bendijo a éste y a toda su familia. David lleva el arca a Jerusalén

12 A nd it was told king David, saying, Jehovah has blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that is his, because of the ark of God. And David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom into the city of David with joy.

Cuando David se enteró de que por causa del arca el Señor había bendecido a Obed Edom y a toda su familia, lleno de alegría llevó el arca a la ciudad de David.

13 A nd it was so, that when they that bore the ark of Jehovah had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatted beast.

Apenas habían dado seis pasos los que llevaban el arca cuando David ofreció en sacrificio un buey y un carnero engordado.

14 A nd David danced before Jehovah with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

Ataviado con un efod de lino, David danzaba con todas sus fuerzas delante del Señor.

15 A nd David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of Jehovah with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

Lo mismo hacía todo el pueblo de Israel que acompañaba el arca del Señor. Todo era júbilo y sonido de trompetas.

16 A nd as the ark of Jehovah came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before Jehovah; and she despised him in her heart.

Cuando el arca del Señor llegó a la ciudad de David, Mical, la hija de Saúl, estaba mirando por la ventana, y al ver a David saltar y danzar delante del Señor, sintió por él un profundo desprecio.

17 A nd they brought in the ark of Jehovah, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tent that David had spread for it. And David offered up burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before Jehovah.

El arca del Señor fue llevada a una tienda de campaña que David había ordenado levantar, y David ofreció al Señor sacrificios y ofrendas de reconciliación.

18 A nd when David had ended offering up the burnt-offerings and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Jehovah of hosts.

Luego de ofrecer los sacrificios y las ofendas de reconciliación, David bendijo al pueblo en el nombre del Señor de los ejércitos,

19 A nd he dealt to all the people, to the whole multitude of Israel, both men and women, to every one a cake of bread, and a measure, and a raisin-cake. And all the people departed every one to his house.

y repartió entre el pueblo, hombres y mujeres, un pan, un trozo de carne y una torta de pasas. Después de eso, todo el pueblo se fue, cada uno a su casa.

20 A nd David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How honourable did the king of Israel make himself to-day, who uncovered himself to-day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the lewd fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!

David se dirigió entonces a su casa, para bendecirla, pero Mical salió a recibirlo y le dijo: «¡Qué bien ha quedado el rey de Israel, al dejar al descubierto sus intimidades frente a las criadas de sus sirvientes! ¡Tal desfachatez sólo es propia de un hombre cualquiera!»

21 A nd David said to Michal, It was before Jehovah, who chose me rather than thy father, and than all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of Jehovah, over Israel; and I played before Jehovah.

Pero David le respondió: “«Sí, dancé; pero lo hice delante del Señor, porque él me eligió para reinar sobre su pueblo Israel. El Señor me ha preferido a mí, en lugar de tu padre y de toda tu familia.

22 A nd I will make myself yet more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight; and of the handmaids that thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.

Y aún podría rebajarme más, según tu opinión, pero a los ojos de las criadas que tú mencionas seré objeto de honra.»

23 A nd Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.

Y Mical, la hija de Saúl, murió sin llegar a tener hijos de David.
