1 A nd it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth, on the fifth of the month, that I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, the hand of the Lord Jehovah fell there upon me.

El día cinco del mes sexto del sexto año, yo estaba sentado en mi casa, en compañía de los ancianos de Judá, cuando de pronto la mano de Dios el Señor se posó sobre mí.

2 A nd I looked, and behold, a likeness as the appearance of fire; from the appearance of his loins and downward, fire; and from his loins and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the look of glowing brass.

Me fijé, y vi una figura semejante a la de un hombre, aunque de la cintura para abajo parecía fuego, y de la cintura para arriba su resplandor tenía el aspecto del bronce refulgente.

3 A nd he stretched forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heavens, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entry of the inner gate that looketh toward the north, where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.

Aquella figura extendió la mano, y me tomó por los cabellos; entonces el espíritu me elevó por los aires, entre el cielo y la tierra, y en visiones de Dios me llevó a Jerusalén, a la entrada de la puerta interior que mira hacia el norte, donde estaba el recinto de la imagen que despierta los celos de Dios,

4 A nd behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the appearance that I saw in the valley.

¡y allí estaba la gloria del Dios de Israel, tal y como la había visto en la visión del campo!

5 A nd he said unto me, Son of man, lift up now thine eyes toward the north. And I lifted up mine eyes toward the north, and behold, northward of the gate of the altar, this image of jealousy in the entry.

Y me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, dirige ahora la mirada hacia el lado norte.» Yo dirigí la mirada hacia el norte, y allí en el norte pude ver, junto a la puerta del altar, y en la entrada misma, la imagen que despierta los celos de Dios.

6 A nd he said unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? the great abominations that the house of Israel commit here, to cause to go far off from my sanctuary? And yet again thou shalt see great abominations.

Entonces me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, ¡mira lo que éstos hacen! ¡Mira las grandes abominaciones que el pueblo de Israel perpetra aquí para alejarme de mi santuario! Pero sigue viendo, y verás abominaciones aún mayores.»

7 A nd he brought me to the entry of the court, and I looked, and behold, a hole in the wall.

Me llevó entonces a la entrada del atrio, y me fijé, y vi en la pared un agujero.

8 A nd he said unto me, Son of man, dig now through the wall; and I digged through the wall, and behold, a door.

Me dijo entonces: «Hijo de hombre, haz un hoyo en la pared.» En cuanto hice el hoyo en la pared, vi una puerta.

9 A nd he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.

Entonces me dijo: «Entra, y ve cuántas cosas malvadas y repugnantes hacen éstos aquí.»

10 A nd I went in and looked, and behold, every form of creeping thing and abominable beast, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall round about.

Yo entré, y miré, y pude ver toda clase de reptiles y de bestias repugnantes, y vi que por toda la pared estaban pintados todos los ídolos del pueblo de Israel.

11 A nd there stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.

Delante de ellos estaban setenta ancianos del pueblo de Israel, cada uno con su incensario en su mano, y en medio de ellos estaba Jazanías hijo de Safán. Y subía una espesa nube de incienso.

12 A nd he said unto me, Hast thou seen, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every one in his chambers of imagery? for they say, Jehovah seeth us not; Jehovah hath forsaken the land.

Me dijo entonces: «Hijo de hombre, ¡mira lo que hacen a escondidas los ancianos del pueblo de Israel! ¡Todos ellos tienen sus alcobas pintadas de imágenes! Y es que dicen: “El Señor no nos ve. El Señor ha abandonado la tierra.”»

13 A nd he said unto me, Yet again thou shalt see great abominations which they do.

Luego me dijo: «Sigue mirando, y vas a ver cosas aún más repugnantes que éstos hacen.»

14 A nd he brought me to the entry of the gate of Jehovah's house that was toward the north; and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

Entonces me llevó a la entrada de la puerta del templo del Señor, la que está al norte, y allí vi a unas mujeres sentadas, las cuales lloraban por el dios Tamuz.

15 A nd he said unto me, Seest thou, son of man? Thou shalt yet again see greater abominations than these.

Allí me dijo: «¿Lo ves, hijo de hombre? Pues sigue mirando, y verás cosas aún más repugnantes que éstas.»

16 A nd he brought me into the inner court of Jehovah's house, and behold, at the entry of the temple of Jehovah, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of Jehovah and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

Me llevó luego al atrio interior del templo del Señor, y allí junto a la entrada del templo del Señor, entre la entrada y el altar, vi como veinticinco varones que, de espaldas al templo del Señor, estaban de rodillas y con la mirada puesta hacia el oriente, para adorar al sol.

17 A nd he said unto me, Seest thou, son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they commit here, that they yet fill the land with violence, and keep provoking me afresh to anger? And behold, they put the branch to their nose.

Entonces me dijo: «¿Lo has visto, hijo de hombre? ¿Acaso cree el pueblo de Judá que es poca cosa cometer aquí actos tan repugnantes? No sólo han llenado de maldad la tierra, sino que además quieren provocar mi enojo. ¡Hasta me hacen oler sus hediondos ramos!

18 A nd I also will deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.

¡Pues también yo voy a proceder con furor! ¡No voy a perdonarlos, ni les tendré misericordia! ¡Bien pueden gritar hasta desgañitarse, que yo nos les haré caso!»
