1 Т огава теманецът Елифаз отговори:

And Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

2 М оже ли човек да бъде полезен на Бога? Ако разумен може да бъде полезен на себе си.

Can a man be profitable to God? surely it is unto himself that the wise man is profitable.

3 А ко ти си праведен, Всемогъщият има ли за какво да се радва? Или ползва ли се Той, ако правиш пътищата си непорочни?

Is it any pleasure to the Almighty if thou art righteous? And is it gain that thou makest thy ways perfect?

4 П оради твоя страх от Него ли Той те изобличава и влиза в съд с тебе?

Will he reason with thee for fear of thee? Will he enter with thee into judgment?

5 Н ечестието ти не е ли голямо? И беззаконията ти не са ли безкрайни?

Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities without end?

6 З ащото без причина си взел залог от брат си и си лишил голите от дрехите им.

For thou hast taken a pledge of thy brother for nought, and stripped off the clothing of the naked.

7 Н е си напоил с вода уморения и си задържал хляб от гладния.

Thou hast not given water to the fainting to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

8 А който беше як, той придобиваше земята; и който беше почитан, той се заселваше в нея.

But the powerful man, he had the land; and the man of high rank dwelt in it.

9 В довици си отпратил празни и мишците на сирачетата си строшил.

Widows hast thou sent empty away, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

10 З атова примки те обикалят и внезапен страх те ужасява

Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;

11 и ли тъмнина и не виждаш, и множество води те покриват.

Or darkness, that thou canst not see, and floods of waters cover thee.

12 Б ог не е ли на небесните висоти? Сега гледай височината на звездите, колко са нависоко!

Is not +God in the height of the heavens? And behold the summit of the stars: how exalted are they!

13 А ти казваш: Къде ще знае Бог? През мрака ли може да съди?

And thou sayest, What doth God know? will he judge through the dark cloud?

14 О блаци Го покриват и не вижда; и ходи по свода небесен.

Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh on the vault of the heavens.

15 З абелязал ли си ти стария път, по който са ходили беззаконниците? -

Dost thou mark the ancient path which wicked men have trodden?

16 Т ези, които преждевременно бяха грабнати и чиято основа порой завлече,

Who were carried off before the time, whose foundation was overflowed with a flood;

17 к оито казаха на Бога: Отдалечи се от нас, и: Какво може Всемогъщият да стори за нас? -

Who said unto God, Depart from us! and what could the Almighty do to them?

18 П ри все че Той напълни с блага домовете им. Но далеч да бъде от мене мъдруването на нечестивите!

Yet he filled their houses with good. But the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

19 П раведните гледат и се радват; и невинните им се присмиват, като казват:

The righteous see it, and are glad; and the innocent laugh them to scorn:

20 Н е бяха ли погубени въстаналите против нас и огън не погълна ли останалите от тях? Бъди в мир с Бога!

Is not he who rose against us destroyed, and doth not the fire consume his residue?

21 С приятели се сега с Него и бъди в мир; от това ще дойде добро за теб.

Reconcile thyself now with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

22 И така, приеми закона от устата Му и съхрани думите Му в сърцето си.

Receive, I pray thee, instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in thy heart.

23 А ко се върнеш към Всемогъщия, пак ще бъдеш утвърден; и така, отдалечи беззаконието от шатрите си,

If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up. If thou remove unrighteousness far from thy tents,

24 х върли злото си в пръстта и офирското злато - между камъните на потоците;

And put the precious ore with the dust, and Ophir among the stones of the torrents,

25 и Всемогъщият ще ти бъде злато и изобилие от сребро за тебе.

Then the Almighty will be thy precious ore, and silver heaped up unto thee;

26 З ащото тогава ще се веселиш във Всемогъщия и ще въздигаш лицето си към Бога.

Yea, then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto +God:

27 Щ е Му се помолиш и Той ще те послуша; и ще изпълни оброците Си.

Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows;

28 И каквото решение вземеш, ще ти бъде потвърдено; и светлина ще сияе по пътищата ти.

And thou shalt decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and light shall shine upon thy ways.

29 К огато те унижат, тогава ще кажеш: Има въздигане! И Той ще спаси онзи, който има смирен поглед.

When they are made low, then thou shalt say, Rise up! and he shall save him that is of downcast eyes.

30 Д аже онзи, който не е невинен, ще избави. Да! С чистотата на твоите ръце ще бъде избавен.

him that is not innocent shall he deliver; yea, he shall be delivered by the pureness of thy hands.
