1 К ак почерня златото! Измени се най-чистото злато! Камъните на светилището са пръснати край всички улици.

How is the gold become dim! the most pure gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary poured out at the top of all the streets!

2 Д рагоценните синове на Сион, равноценни с чисто злато, как се смятат за глинени съдове, дело на грънчарска ръка!

The sons of Zion, so precious, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

3 Д аже чакалите подават гърди и кърмят малките си, а дъщерята на народа ми се ожесточи като щраусите в пустинята;

Even the jackals offer the breast, they give suck to their young; the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.

4 з ащото езикът на кърмачето се залепя на небцето му от жажда; децата искат хляб, но няма кой да им отчупи.

The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst; the young children ask bread, no man breaketh it unto them.

5 О нези, които ядеха отбрани ястия, лежат небрежни по улиците; възпитаните в мораво прегръщат бунището.

They that fed delicately are desolate in the streets; they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dung-hills.

6 З ащото наказанието за беззаконието на дъщерята на народа ми стана по-голямо от наказанието за греха на Содом, който беше съсипан в един миг, без да са го докосвали човешки ръце.

And the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the reward of the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands were violently laid upon her.

7 Б лагородните ѝ бяха по-чисти от сняг, по-бели от мляко, снагата им - по-червена от рубини, блестяха като сапфир;

Her Nazarites were purer than snow, whiter than milk; they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their figure was as sapphire.

8 а сега лицето им е по-черно от сажди; не се познават по улиците! Кожата им залепна за костите им, изсъхна, стана като дърво.

Their visage is darker than blackness, they are not known in the streets; their skin cleaveth to their bones, it is withered, it is become like a stick.

9 П о-щастливи бяха убитите от меч, отколкото умъртвените от глад; защото тези чезнат, прободени от липса на полските произведения.

The slain with the sword are happier than the slain with hunger; for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.

10 Р ъцете на милозливите жени свариха децата им; те им станаха храна при разорението на дъщерята на народа ми.

The hands of pitiful women have boiled their own children: they were their meat in the ruin of the daughter of my people.

11 Г оспод извърши възнамереното от Него в яростта Му, изля пламенния Си гняв. Запали огън в Сион, който изгори основите му.

Jehovah hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, which hath consumed the foundations thereof.

12 З емните царе не вярваха, нито живеещите по целия свят, че щеше да влезе противник и неприятел в йерусалимските порти.

The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should enter into the gates of Jerusalem.

13 А това стана поради греховете на пророците му и поради беззаконията на свещениците му, които проливаха кръвта на праведните сред него.

for the sins of her prophets, the iniquities of her priests, who have shed the blood of the righteous in the midst of her.

14 Т е се скитаха като слепи по улиците, оскверниха се с кръв, така че хората не можеха да се допират до дрехите им.

They wandered about blind in the streets; they were polluted with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.

15 О тстъпете, вие, нечисти, викаха към тях; отстъпете, отстъпете, не се допирайте до нас; а когато те бягаха и се скитаха, между народите се говореше: Няма вече да бъдат пришълци с нас.

They cried unto them, Depart! Unclean! Depart! depart, touch not! When they fled away, and wandered about, it was said among the nations, They shall no more sojourn.

16 Г невът на Господа ги разпръсна; Той не иска вече да гледа към тях; свещеническо лице не почетоха, над старци не се смилиха.

The face of Jehovah hath divided them; he will no more regard them. They respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the aged.

17 И досега очите ни се изнуряват от чакане на суетната за нас помощ; надявахме се на народ, който не можеше да спасява.

Our eyes still failed for our vain help; in our watching, we have watched for a nation that did not save.

18 П ричакват стъпките ни, така че не можем да ходим по улиците си; приближи се краят ни; дните ни се изпълниха; да! Краят ни дойде.

They hunted our steps, that we could not go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.

19 О нези, които ни гонеха, станаха по-леки от небесните орли; гониха ни по планините, причакваха ни в пустинята.

Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the heavens; they chased us hotly upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

20 П омазаникът Господен, диханието на ноздрите ни, този, под чиято сянка казвахме, че ще живеем между народите, се хвана в техните ями.

The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Jehovah, was taken in their pits; of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the nations.

21 Р адвай се и се весели, дъще едомска, която живееш в земята Уз. Обаче и до тебе ще дойде чашата; ще се опиеш и ще се заголиш!

Rejoice and be glad, daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz: the cup shall pass also unto thee; thou shalt be drunken, and make thyself naked.

22 С върши се наказанието за беззаконието ти, дъще Сионова; Той няма вече да те закара в плен; а ще накаже твоето беззаконие, дъще едомска, ще открие съгрешенията ти.

The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity. He will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.
