1 Т огава цялото общество извика с висок глас и народът плака през онази нощ.

And the whole assembly lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

2 И всички израелтяни роптаеха против Моисей и Аарон; и цялото общество им каза: Да бяхме измрели в Египетската земя! Или в тази пустиня да бяхме измрели!

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron; and the whole assembly said to them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or in this wilderness would that we had died!

3 И защо ни води Господ в тази земя да паднем от меч и жените ни и децата ни да бъдат разграбени? Нямаше ли да ни е по-добре да се върнем в Египет?

And why is Jehovah bringing us to this land that we may fall by the sword, that our wives and our little ones may become a prey? Is it not better for us to return to Egypt?

4 Т е си казаха един на друг: Да си поставим началник и да се върнем в Египет.

And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return to Egypt.

5 Т огава Моисей и Аарон паднаха на лицата си пред цялото множество на обществото израелтяни.

Then Moses and Aaron fell upon their faces before the whole congregation of the assembly of the children of Israel.

6 А Исус, Навиновият син, и Халев, Ефониевият син, от онези, които съгледаха земята, раздраха дрехите си

And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, of them that searched out the land, rent their garments.

7 и говориха на цялото общество израелтяни: Земята, през която минахме, за да я съгледаме, е много добра.

And they spoke to the whole assembly of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it out, is a very, very good land.

8 А ко бъде благоволението на Господа към нас, тогава Той ще ни въведе в тази земя и ще ни я даде - земя, където текат мляко и мед.

If Jehovah delight in us, he will bring us into this land, and give it us, a land that flows with milk and honey;

9 С амо недейте въстава против Господа, нито се бойте от народа на земята, защото те са ястие за нас; защитата им се оттегли от тях; а Господ е с нас; не бойте се от тях.

only rebel not against Jehovah; and fear not the people of the land; for they shall be our food. Their defence is departed from them, and Jehovah is with us: fear them not.

10 Н о цялото общество каза да ги убият с камъни. Тогава Господнята слава се яви в шатъра за срещане пред всички израелтяни.

And the whole assembly said that they should be stoned with stones. And the glory of Jehovah appeared in the tent of meeting to all the children of Israel.

11 И Господ каза на Моисей: Докога ще Ме презира този народ? И докога няма да Ми вярва, въпреки всички знамения, които съм извършил сред него?

And Jehovah said to Moses, How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not believe me, for all the signs which I have done among them?

12 Щ е ги поразя с мор и ще ги изтребя; а от тебе ще направя народ, по-голям и по-силен от тях.

I will smite them with the pestilence, and destroy them, and will make of thee a nation greater and mightier than they.

13 Н о Моисей отговори на Господа: Тогава египтяните ще чуят; защото Ти със силата Си си извел този народ изсред тях;

And Moses said to Jehovah, Then the Egyptians will hear it; for in thy might thou broughtest up this people from the midst of them;

14 и ще кажат това на жителите на тази земя, които са чули, че Ти, Господи, си между този народ - че Ти, Господи, се явяваш лице с лице и че облакът Ти стои над тях, и че Ти вървиш пред тях денем в облачен стълб, а нощем в огнен стълб.

and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land, have heard that thou, Jehovah, art in the midst of this people, that thou, Jehovah, lettest thyself be seen eye to eye, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night;

15 И ако изтребиш този народ като един човек, тогава народите, които са чули за Тебе, ще кажат:

if thou now slayest this people as one man, then the nations that have heard thy fame will speak, saying,

16 П онеже Йехова не можа да въведе този народ в земята, за която им се кле, затова ги погуби в пустинята.

Because Jehovah was not able to bring this people into the land that he had sworn unto them, he has therefore slain them in the wilderness.

17 С ега, моля Ти се, нека се възвеличи силата на Господа мой, както си говорил:

And now, I beseech thee, let the power of the Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

18 Г оспод е дълготърпелив и многомилостив, прощава беззаконие и престъпление и никак не оневинява виновния, и въздава беззаконието на бащите върху синовете до третия и четвъртия род.

Jehovah is slow to anger, and abundant in goodness, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but by no means clearing, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and fourth.

19 П рости, моля Ти се, беззаконието на този народ според Твоята голяма милост и както си прощавал на този народ от Египет до тук.

Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of thy loving-kindness, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

20 И Господ каза: Прощавам им, както си казал;

And Jehovah said, I have pardoned according to thy word.

21 н о наистина се заклевам в живота Си, че целият свят ще се изпълни с Господнята слава.

But as surely as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of Jehovah!

22 П онеже от всички тези мъже, които са виждали славата Ми и знаменията, които извърших в Египет и в пустинята, и са Ме раздразвали досега десет пъти, и не послушаха гласа Ми,

for all those men who have seen my glory, and my signs, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice,

23 н аистина нито един от тях няма да види земята, за която се клех на бащите им, нито ще я види някой от онези, които Ме презряха.

shall in no wise see the land which I did swear unto their fathers: none of them that despised me shall see it.

24 Н о понеже слугата ми Халев има в себе си друг дух и той напълно Ме последва, затова него ще въведа в земята, в която влезе, и потомството му ще я наследява.

But my servant Caleb, because he hath another spirit in him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he came; and his seed shall possess it.

25 ( А амаличаните и ханаанците живеят в долината.) Утре се върнете и идете в пустинята към Червеното море.

(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valley.) To-morrow turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness, on the way to the Red sea.

26 Г оспод говорѝ още на Моисей и Аарон:

And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

27 Д окога ще търпя това нечестиво общество, което роптае против Мене? Чух роптанията на израелтяните, с които роптаят против Мене.

How long with this evil assembly, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

28 К ажи им: Заклевам се в живота Си, казва Господ, навярно ще направя на вас така, както вие говорихте в ушите Ми;

Say unto them, As surely as I live, saith Jehovah, if I do not do unto you as ye have spoken in mine ears!

29 т руповете ви ще паднат в тази пустиня; и от преброените между вас, колкото сте на брой от двадесет години и нагоре, които сте роптали против Мене,

In this wilderness shall your carcases fall; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number from twenty years old and upwards, who have murmured against me,

30 н ито един няма да влезе в земята, за която се клех да ви заселя в нея, освен Халев, Ефониевия син, и Исус, Навиновия син.

shall in no wise come into the land, concerning which I have lifted up my hand to make you dwell in it; save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

31 Н о децата ви, за които казахте, че ще бъдат разграбени, тях ще въведа; и те ще познаят земята, която вие презряхте.

But your little ones, of whom ye said they should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land that ye have despised.

32 А вашите трупове ще паднат в тази пустиня.

And as to you, your carcases shall fall in this wilderness.

33 И децата ви ще скитат по пустинята четиридесет години и ще теглят поради вашите блудствания, докато бъдат изпоядени труповете ви в пустинята.

And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.

34 С поред числото на дните, през които съгледахте земята, четиридесет дни, всеки ден за една година, четиридесет години ще теглите поради беззаконията си и ще познаете какво значи Аз да съм неблагоразположен.

After the number of the days in which ye have searched out the land, forty days, each day for a year shall ye bear your iniquities forty years, and ye shall know mine estrangement.

35 А з, Господ, говорих; наистина така ще постъпя с цялото това нечестиво общество, което се е събрало против Мене; в тази пустиня ще се довършат и в нея ще измрат.

I Jehovah have spoken; I will surely do it unto all this evil assembly which have gathered together against me! in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

36 И онези мъже, които Моисей изпрати да съгледат земята, които, като се върнаха, направиха цялото общество да роптае против него и зле представиха земята,

And the men whom Moses had sent to search out the land, who returned, and made the whole assembly to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report upon the land,

37 т ези мъже, които зле представиха земята, измряха от язвата пред Господа.

even those men who had brought up an evil report upon the land, died by a plague before Jehovah.

38 А Исус, Навиновият син, и Халев, Ефониевият син, останаха живи измежду онези мъже, които ходиха да съгледат земята.

But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, lived still of the men that had gone to search out the land.

39 Т огава Моисей каза тези думи на всички израелтяни; и народът плака горчиво.

And Moses told all these sayings to all the children of Israel; then the people mourned greatly.

40 Н а сутринта, като станаха рано, изкачиха се на планинския връх и казваха: Ето ни; и ще вървим напред към мястото, което Господ ни е обещал; защото съгрешихме.

And they rose up early in the morning, and went up to the hill-top, saying, Here are we, and we will go up to the place of which Jehovah has spoken; for we have sinned.

41 А Моисей каза: Защо престъпвате така Господнето повеление, тъй като това няма да успее?

And Moses said, Why now do ye transgress the commandment of Jehovah? but it shall not prosper!

42 Н е вървете напред, защото Господ не е между вас, да не би да ви поразят неприятелите ви.

Go not up, for Jehovah is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies;

43 З ащото амаличаните и ханаанците са там, пред вас, и вие ще паднете от меч. Понеже отстъпихте и не следвахте Господа, затова Господ няма да бъде с вас.

for the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword; for as ye have turned away from Jehovah, Jehovah will not be with you.

44 О баче те дръзнаха да се изкачат на планинския връх; но ковчегът на Господния завет и Моисей не излязоха от стана.

Yet they presumed to go up to the hill-top; but the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and Moses, did not depart from the midst of the camp.

45 Т огава амаличаните и ханаанците, които живееха на онази планина, слязоха и ги разбиха, и ги поразяваха чак до Хорма.

And the Amalekites and the Canaanites who dwelt on that hill, came down and smote them, and cut them to pieces, as far as Hormah.
