1 С лушайте това слово, плача, който аз започвам за вас, доме Израелев:

Hear this word, a lamentation, which I take up against you, O house of Israel.

2 П адна Израелевата девица, няма да стане вече; хвърлена е на земята, без да има кой да я вдигне.

The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more arise: she is cast down upon her land; there is none to raise her up.

3 З ащото така казва Господ Йехова: Градът, от който излизаха хиляда, ще остане със сто за Израелевия дом, и онзи, от който излизаха сто, ще остане с десет.

For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, for the house of Israel.

4 З ащото така казва Господ на Израелевия дом: Потърсете Ме и ще живеете;

For thus saith Jehovah unto the house of Israel: Seek ye me, and ye shall live.

5 н о не търсете Ветил, нито влизайте в Галгал, нито се отправяйте към Вирсавее; защото Галгал непременно ще отиде в плен и Ветил ще изчезне.

And seek not Bethel, neither go to Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.

6 П отърсете Господа и ще живеете; да не би да избухне като огън в Йосифовия дом и да го изгори, без да има кой да го гаси във Ветил.

Seek Jehovah, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour, and there be none to quench in Bethel.

7 В ие, които превръщате правосъдието в пелин и хвърляте правдата на земята,

Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth,

8 п отърсете Този, Който създава Плеядите и Орион, Който обръща мрачната сянка в зора и помрачава деня и става нощ - Този, Който повиква морските води и ги излива по лицето на земята (Йехова е името Му) -

that made the Pleiades and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: Jehovah is his name.

9 Т ози, Който нанася внезапна гибел върху силните, така че гибел достига в крепостите.

He causeth destruction to break forth suddenly upon the strong, and bringeth destruction upon the fortress.

10 Т е мразят този, който изобличава в портата, и се гнусят от онзи, който говори справедливо.

They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

11 И така, понеже угнетявате сиромаха и изтръгвате от него жито, затова, ако и да сте построили къщи от дялани камъни, няма да живеете в тях, ако и да сте насадили приятни лозя, няма да пиете виното им.

Forasmuch, therefore, as ye trample upon the poor, and take from him presents of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, and ye shall not drink the wine of them.

12 З ащото зная колко много са вашите престъпления и колко големи са греховете ви - вие, които угнетявате праведния, приемате подкупи и извръщате правото на сиромасите в портата;

For I know how manifold are your transgressions and your sins mighty: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the needy in the gate.

13 з атова разумният млъква в такова време, защото е зло време.

Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in this time; for it is an evil time.

14 П отърсете доброто, а не злото, за да живеете; така Господ, Бог на Силите, ще бъде с вас, както вие казвате.

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so Jehovah, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye say.

15 М разете злото, обичайте доброто и установявайте правосъдие в портата; може би Господ, Бог на Силите, ще се смили над останалите от Йосиф.

Hate evil, and love good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that Jehovah, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

16 З атова, така казва Йехова, Бог на Силите, Господ: Ридание ще има по всички площади и по всички улици ще казват: Горко! Горко! Ще повикат земеделеца за жалеене и изкусните оплаквателки - за ридание;

Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts, the Lord: Wailing shall be in all broadways; and they shall say in all the streets, Alas! alas! And they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.

17 и по всички лозя ще има ридание, защото Аз ще мина сред тебе, казва Господ.

And in all vineyards shall be wailing; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith Jehovah.

18 Г орко на онези, които желаят деня Господен! За какво ви е той? Денят Господен е тъмнина, а не светлина.

Woe unto you that desire the day of Jehovah! To what end is the day of Jehovah for you? It shall be darkness and not light:

19 К акто ако бяга човек от лъв и го срещне мечка или като влезе в къщи, опре ръката си о стената и го ухапе змия,

as if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

20 н яма ли така да бъде денят Господен? Тъмнина, а не светлина? Дори мрак, без никаква светлина?

Shall not the day of Jehovah be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

21 М разя, презирам празнуванията ви и няма да благоволя в тържествените ви събрания.

I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

22 Д аже ако Ми принесете всеизгарянията и жертвите си, няма да ги приема, нито ще погледна към мирните ви жертви от угоени животни.

For if ye offer up unto me burnt-offerings and your oblations, I will not accept; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fatted beasts.

23 О тмахни от Мене шума на песните си, защото не искам да слушам свиренето на псалтирите ти;

Take away from me the noise of thy songs, and I will not hear the melody of thy lutes;

24 н о нека правосъдието тече като вода и правдата - като поток, който не пресъхва.

but let judgment roll down as waters, and righteousness as an ever-flowing stream.

25 Д оме Израелев, на Мене ли принасяхте жертви и приноси четиридесет години в пустинята?

Did ye bring unto me sacrifices and oblations in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?

26 Н апротив, носехте царя си Сикут и Хиун, идолите си, звездата на вашите богове, които си направихте.

Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of your Moloch, and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye had made to yourselves;

27 З атова ще ви закарам в плен оттатък Дамаск, казва Господ, Чието име е Бог на Силите.

and I will cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith Jehovah, whose name is the God of hosts.
