1 Г осподнето слово, което дойде към Йеремия за бездъждието:

The word of Jehovah that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.

2 Ю да ридае и хората в портите му са изнемощели; седят на земята облечени в черно; и викът на Йерусалим се издигна.

Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish, they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem goeth up.

3 Г олемците му пращат подчинените си за вода; те отиват при кладенците, но не намират вода; връщат се с празните си съдове; посрамват се и се смущават, и покриват главите си.

And their nobles send their little ones for water: they come to the pits, they find no water; they return with their vessels empty; they are ashamed, they are confounded, and have covered their heads.

4 П онеже земята се напука, защото няма дъжд на земята, затова орачите се посрамват, покриват главите си.

Because the ground is chapt, for there hath been no rain on the earth, the ploughmen are ashamed, they cover their heads.

5 О ще и кошутата ражда на полето и оставя рожбата си, понеже няма трева.

For the hind also calveth in the field, and forsaketh, because there is no grass.

6 И дивите осли, като застават по голите височини, задушават се за въздух като чакали; очите им чезнат, понеже няма трева.

And the wild asses stand on the heights, they snuff up the wind like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage.

7 Г осподи, при все че беззаконията ни свидетелстват против нас, Ти действай заради името Си; защото отстъпничествата ни са много; пред Тебе съгрешихме.

Jehovah, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou act for thy name's sake; for our backslidings are many—we have sinned against thee.

8 Н адеждо на Израел, Спасителю негов в скръбно време, защо да си като пришълец в тази страна и като пътник, отбил се да пренощува?

Thou hope of Israel, its Saviour in the time of trouble, why wilt thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a traveller that turneth aside to stay a night?

9 З ащо да си като смаян човек, като силен мъж, който не може да избави? Обаче Ти, Господи, си сред нас; ние се наричаме с Твоето име; не ни изоставяй.

Why wilt thou be as a man astonished, as a mighty man that cannot save? Yet thou, Jehovah, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name: leave us not.

10 Т ака казва Господ на този народ: Както обикнаха да се скитат и не въздържаха краката си, така Господ не благоволи към тях; сега ще си спомни беззаконието им и ще накаже греховете им.

Thus saith Jehovah to this people: Even so have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet; and Jehovah hath no delight in them: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.

11 И Господ ми каза: Недей се моли за доброто на този народ.

And Jehovah said unto me, Pray not for this people for their good.

12 Д аже ако постят, няма да послушам вика им, и ако принесат всеизгаряния и приноси, няма да благоволя към тях; а ще ги довърша с меч, глад и мор.

When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer up burnt-offering and oblation, I will not accept them: for I will consume them by sword, and by famine, and by pestilence.

13 Т огава казах: Уви, Господи Йехова! Ето, пророците им казват: Няма да видите меч, нито ще има глад у вас, а ще ви дам сигурен мир на това място.

And I said, Alas, Lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; for I will give you assured peace in this place.

14 Т огава Господ ми каза: Лъжливо пророкуват пророците в името Ми; Аз не съм ги пратил, нито съм им заповядал, нито съм им говорил; те ви пророкуват лъжливо видение, гадание, суетата и измамата на своето сърце.

And Jehovah said unto me, The prophets prophesy falsehood in my name; I have not sent them, neither have I commanded them, nor spoken unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision, and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

15 З атова така казва Господ: За пророците, които пророкуват в Моето име, без да съм ги изпратил, а които казват: Меч и глад няма да има в тази страна, - с меч и глад ще бъдат изтребени тези пророци.

Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, and who say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and by famine shall those prophets be consumed;

16 А народът, на който те пророкуват, ще бъдат изхвърлени от йерусалимските улици, загинали от глад и меч; и няма да има кой да ги заравя - тях и жените им, синовете и дъщерите им; защото ще излея върху тях собственото им зло.

and the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the famine and the sword; and there shall be none to bury them, them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters; and I will pour their wickedness upon them.

17 И ще им кажеш това слово: Нека ронят очите ми сълзи нощем и денем, без да престанат; защото девицата, дъщерята на народа ми, е поразена с голямо поразяване, с много люта рана.

And thou shalt say this word unto them: Let mine eyes run down with tears, night and day, and not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.

18 А ко изляза на полето - ето убитите с меч! А ако вляза в града - ето изнемощелите от глад. Дори пророкът и свещеникът обходиха земята, но не знаят какво да се направи.

If I go forth into the field, behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, behold them that pine away with famine! For both prophet and priest shall go about into a land that they know not.

19 О тхвърлил ли си съвсем Юда? Погнусила ли се е душата Ти от Сион? Защо си ни поразил и няма изцеление за нас? Очаквахме мир, но никакво добро не дойде, и време за изцеление, но, ето, смущение!

—Hast thou then utterly rejected Judah? Doth thy soul loathe Zion? Why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? Peace is looked for, and there is no good,—and a time of healing, and behold terror!

20 П ризнаваме, Господи, нечестието си и беззаконието на бащите си, защото сме съгрешили пред Тебе.

Jehovah, we acknowledge our wickedness, the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.

21 З аради името Си недей се погнусява от нас, не опозорявай славния Си престол; спомни си, не нарушавай завета Си с нас.

For thy name's sake, do not spurn, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.

22 М ежду идолите на народите има ли някой да дава дъжд? Или небето от себе си ли дава дъждове? Не си ли Ти, Който даваш, Господи, Боже наш? Затова Тебе чакаме, защото Ти си сторил всичко това.

Are there any among the vanities of the nations that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? Art not thou HE, Jehovah, our God? And we wait upon thee; for thou hast made all these things.
