1 С ара живя сто двадесет и седем години; тези бяха годините на Сариния живот.

And the life of Sarah was a hundred and twenty-seven years: the years of the life of Sarah.

2 И Сара умря в Кириат-Арва (който е Хеврон), в Ханаанската земя; и Авраам дойде да жалее Сара и да я оплаче.

And Sarah died in Kirjath-Arba: that is Hebron, in the land of Canaan. And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

3 И като стана Авраам от покойницата си, говори на хетите, като им каза:

And Abraham rose up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying,

4 П ришълец и заселник съм аз между вас; дайте ми място за погребване между вас, което да е мое, за да погреба покойницата си пред очите си.

I am a stranger and a sojourner with you; give me a possession of a sepulchre with you, that I may bury my dead from before me.

5 А хетите отговориха на Авраам:

And the sons of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,

6 П ослушай ни, господарю, между нас ти си княз Божий; погреби покойницата си в най-добрата от гробниците ни; никой от нас няма да ти откаже гробницата си, за да погребеш покойницата си.

Hear us, my lord: thou art a prince of God among us: in the choicest of our sepulchres bury thy dead: none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre for burying thy dead.

7 Т огава Авраам стана, поклони се на народа на земята, на хетите, и говори с тях, като каза:

And Abraham rose up, and bowed down to the people of the land, to the sons of Heth,

8 А ко ви е угодно да погреба покойницата си пред очите си, послушайте ме и станете посредници за мене пред Сааровия син Ефрон,

and spoke to them, saying, If it be your will that I should bury my dead from before me, hear me, and entreat for me Ephron the son of Zohar,

9 з а да ми даде пещерата си Махпелах, която е на края на нивата му; с пълна цена нека ми я даде сред вас, като собственост за гробница.

that he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which is his, which is at the end of his field; for the full money let him give it to me amongst you for a possession of a sepulchre.

10 А Ефрон седеше сред хетите; и Ефрон, хетът, отговори на Авраам пред хетите, които слушаха, пред всички, които влизаха в портата на града му:

And Ephron was dwelling among the sons of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham, in the ears of the sons of Heth, of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,

11 Н е, господарю, послушай ме; давам ти нивата, давам ти и пещерата, която е в нея; давам ти я пред тези мъже от народа си; погреби покойницата си.

No, my lord: hear me. The field give I thee; and the cave that is in it, to thee I give it; before the eyes of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.

12 Т огава Авраам се поклони пред народа на земята

And Abraham bowed down before the people of the land;

13 и говори на Ефрон пред народа на земята, които слушаха, като му каза: Но, ако обичаш, моля, послушай ме: ще дам стойността на нивата; вземи я от мен и ще погреба покойницата си там.

and he spoke to Ephron, in the ears of the people of the land, saying, But if only thou wouldst listen to me, I give the money for the field: take of me, and I will bury my dead there.

14 А Ефрон отговори на Авраам:

And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,

15 Ч уй ме, господарю: земя за четиристотин сребърни сикъла какво е между мен и теб? И така, погреби покойницата си.

My lord, hearken to me. A field of four hundred shekels of silver, what is that between me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.

16 И Авраам прие казаното от Ефрон и му претегли парите, които определи пред хетите, които слушаха - четиристотин сребърни сикъла, каквито вървяха между търговците.

And Abraham hearkened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the money that he had named in the ears of the sons of Heth—four hundred shekels of silver, current with the merchant.

17 И така, Ефроновата нива, която беше в Махпелах, срещу Мамврий - нивата, пещерата, която беше в нея, и всички дървета в нивата, в междите около цялата нива,

So the field of Ephron, which was at Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave that was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all its borders round about,

18 с танаха собственост на Авраам пред очите на синовете на Хет, пред всички, които влизаха през портата на неговия град.

were assured to Abraham for a possession before the eyes of the sons of Heth, before all who went in at the gate of his city.

19 С лед това Авраам погреба жена си Сара в пещерата на нивата в Махпелах, срещу Мамврий (който е Хеврон), в Ханаанската земя.

And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field at Machpelah, opposite to Mamre: that is Hebron, in the land of Canaan.

20 Т ака нивата и пещерата в нея бяха утвърдени на Авраам от хетите като собствено гробище.

And the field and the cave that was in it were assured to Abraham for a possession of a sepulchre by the sons of Heth.
