How is the gold become dim! the most pure gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary poured out at the top of all the streets!

2 Д рагоценные сыны Сиона, некогда равноценные чистейшему золоту, теперь приравниваются к глиняной посуде, изделию рук горшечника.

The sons of Zion, so precious, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

3 Д аже шакалы сосцы дают, чтобы кормить своих детенышей, но мой народ стал жесток, подобно страусам в пустыне.

Even the jackals offer the breast, they give suck to their young; the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.

4 О т жажды язык младенца прилипает к нёбу его, дети просят хлеба, но никто им его не дает.

The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst; the young children ask bread, no man breaketh it unto them.

5 К то привык к изысканным яствам, выброшен на улицу, кто в роскоши воспитан копается в кучах мусора.

They that fed delicately are desolate in the streets; they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dung-hills.

6 Н аказание народа моего превышает наказание Содома, который был разрушен мгновенно, и руки человеческие даже не коснулись его.

And the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the reward of the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands were violently laid upon her.

7 В ожди Иерусалима были чище снега, белее молока, тела их были румянее кораллов, на вид были подобны сапфирам.

Her Nazarites were purer than snow, whiter than milk; they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their figure was as sapphire.

8 А сейчас они чернее копоти, их не узнают на улицах, кожа их сморщилась на костях их, иссохла, словно дерево.

Their visage is darker than blackness, they are not known in the streets; their skin cleaveth to their bones, it is withered, it is become like a stick.

9 Т е, кто погиб от меча, счастливее умирающих от голода. Испытывая муки голода, изнемогают они от недостатка полевых плодов.

The slain with the sword are happier than the slain with hunger; for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.

10 С воими руками любящие матери варили собственных детей; младенцы стали пищей во время гибели моего народа.

The hands of pitiful women have boiled their own children: they were their meat in the ruin of the daughter of my people.

11 Г осподь выплеснул все негодование Свое, Он излил пылающий гнев Свой и зажег в Сионе огонь, который пожрал основания его.

Jehovah hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, which hath consumed the foundations thereof.

12 Н е верили ни цари земные, ни все жители мира, что неприятель войдет в ворота Иерусалима.

The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should enter into the gates of Jerusalem.

13 Н о это случилось из-за грехов его пророков и беззаконий его священников, которые проливали в нем кровь праведников.

for the sins of her prophets, the iniquities of her priests, who have shed the blood of the righteous in the midst of her.

14 Т еперь они, как слепые, бродят по улицам, оскверненные кровью, так что никто не осмеливается прикоснуться к ним.

They wandered about blind in the streets; they were polluted with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.

15 « Уходите, нечистые! – кричат им, – уходите прочь, не прикасайтесь!» И тогда они исчезают и начинают скитаться между народами, а им и там говорят: «Вы не можете здесь оставаться».

They cried unto them, Depart! Unclean! Depart! depart, touch not! When they fled away, and wandered about, it was said among the nations, They shall no more sojourn.

16 Г осподь Сам рассеял их, Он больше не смотрит за ними. Священникам не оказывают уважение, и старцам – милости.

The face of Jehovah hath divided them; he will no more regard them. They respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the aged.

17 Г лаза наши утомились, напрасно ожидая помощи; с наших башен мы ожидали народ, который не мог спасти нас.

Our eyes still failed for our vain help; in our watching, we have watched for a nation that did not save.

18 Н а каждом шагу подстерегали нас, так что мы не могли ходить по улицам нашим. Приблизился наш конец, число наших дней сочтено: пришел наш конец.

They hunted our steps, that we could not go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.

19 Н аши преследователи были быстрее орлов в небе. Они гонялись за нами по горам, подкарауливали нас в пустыне.

Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the heavens; they chased us hotly upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

20 Д ыхание нашей жизни – царь наш, помазанник Господа, – пойман в их ловушки. А мы говорили, что под его тенью мы будем жить среди народов.

The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Jehovah, was taken in their pits; of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the nations.

21 Р адуйся пока и веселись, дочь Эдома, живущая в земле Уц! Но и до тебя дойдет чаша, напьешься допьяна и обнажишься.

Rejoice and be glad, daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz: the cup shall pass also unto thee; thou shalt be drunken, and make thyself naked.

22 О дочь Сиона! Наказание твое скоро закончится, Он не продлит изгнание твое. А тебя, дочь Эдома, Он накажет за беззакония твои и откроет все грехи твои.

The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity. He will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.
