Better is a poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

2 Н ехорошо усердие без знания, а тот, кто спешит, оступится.

Also that a person be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet maketh false steps.

3 Ч еловек своей же глупостью губит себе жизнь, а сердце его злится на Господа.

The folly of man distorteth his way, and his heart is irritated against Jehovah.

4 Б огатство приводит много друзей, а бедняка и его друг оставляет.

Wealth addeth many friends; but the poor is separated from his friend.

5 Л живый свидетель не останется безнаказанным, и лгун не уйдет от расплаты.

A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.

6 М ногие заискивают перед правителем, и дающему подарки всякий друг.

Many court the favour of a noble; and every one is friend to a man that giveth.

7 Б едняка ненавидят все его родственники, сколь же больше друзья его избегают! Когда он зовет их – нет их нигде.

All the brethren of a poor hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him: he pursueth with words,—they are not.

8 П риобретающий мудрость любит душу свою; хранящий разум преуспеет.

He that getteth sense loveth his own soul; he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

9 Л живый свидетель не останется безнаказанным, и лгун погибнет.

A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall perish.

10 Н е годится глупцу жить в роскоши, тем паче рабу править князьями.

Good living beseemeth not a fool; how much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

11 Р азум человека умеряет его гнев; слава его – оставить оскорбление без внимания.

The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

12 Ц арский гнев львиному реву подобен, а милость его – как роса на траве.

The king's displeasure is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

13 Г лупый сын – гибель для отца, а вздорная жена – несмолкающая капель.

A foolish son is the calamity of his father; and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

14 Д ома и богатство – наследство от родителей, а разумная жена – от Господа.

House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers; but a prudent wife is from Jehovah.

15 Л еность наводит глубокий сон, и ленивый будет ходить голодным.

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.

16 И сполняющий повеление бережет свою жизнь, а небрежный к пути своему – погибнет.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul; he that is careless of his ways shall die.

17 М илосердный к бедным одалживает Господу, и Он наградит его за сделанное.

He that is gracious to the poor lendeth unto Jehovah; and what he hath bestowed will he repay unto him.

18 Н аказывай сына, пока есть надежда; не делайся виновным в его гибели.

Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; but set not thy soul upon killing him.

19 Г невливый должен быть наказан; если ты отпустишь его, тебе придется наказывать его снова.

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment; for if thou deliver, yet thou must do it again.

20 П ослушай совета и прими наставление, чтобы обрести мудрость на будущее.

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21 М ного замыслов в сердце человека, но исполнится только намерение Господа.

Many are the thoughts in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah, that doth stand.

22 В человеке желанна верность; лучше быть бедным, чем лгуном.

The charm of a man is his kindness; and a poor is better than a liar.

23 С трах перед Господом ведет к жизни: исполненный им спит спокойно, и зло его не коснется.

The fear of Jehovah to life, and he shall rest satisfied without being visited with evil.

24 Л ентяй запускает руку в блюдо, но ленится даже до рта донести.

A sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not even bring it to his mouth again.

25 Н акажи глумливого, – и образумятся простаки; укори разумного, – и он усвоит знание.

Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware; reprove the intelligent, and he will understand knowledge.

26 О бирающий отца и выгоняющий мать – сын срамной и бесславный.

He that ruineth father and chaseth away mother is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.

27 П рекратив слушать наставления, сын мой, ты от слов познания уклонишься.

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction which causeth to stray from the words of knowledge.

28 Н егодный свидетель глумится над правосудием, и уста нечестивого пожирают грех.

A witness of Belial scorneth judgment, and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth down iniquity.

29 У готованы наказания глумливым и побои – спинам глупцов.

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of the foolish.
