4 H e becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.

Ледача рука до убозтва веде, рука ж роботяща збагачує.

5 H e who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.

Хто літом збирає син мудрий, хто ж дрімає в жнива син безпутній.

6 B lessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

Благословенства на голову праведного, а уста безбожним прикриє насильство.

7 T he memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.

Пам'ять про праведного на благословення, а ймення безбожних загине.

8 T he wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.

Заповіді мудросердий приймає, але дурногубий впаде.

9 H e who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.

Хто в невинності ходить, той ходить безпечно, а хто кривить дороги свої, буде виявлений.

10 O ne winking with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.

Хто оком моргає, той смуток дає, але дурногубий впаде.

11 T he mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

Уста праведного то джерело життя, а уста безбожним прикриє насильство.

12 H atred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.

Ненависть побуджує сварки, а любов покриває всі вини.

13 W isdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.

В устах розумного мудрість знаходиться, а різка на спину безтямного.

14 W ise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.

Приховують мудрі знання, а уста нерозумного близькі до загибелі.

15 T he rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

Маєток багатого місто твердинне його, погибіль убогих їхні злидні.

16 T he labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.

Дорібок праведного на життя, прибуток безбожного в гріх.

17 H e is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.

Хто напучування стереже той на стежці життя, а хто нехтує картання, той блудить.

18 H e who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.

Хто ненависть ховає, в того губи брехливі, а хто наклепи ширить, той дурноверхий.

19 I n the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.

Не бракує гріха в многомовності, а хто стримує губи свої, той розумний.

20 T he tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.

Язик праведного то добірне срібло, а розум безбожних мізерний.

21 T he lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.

Пасуть багатьох губи праведного, безглузді ж умирають з нерозуму.

22 Y ahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.

Благословення Господнє воно збагачає, і смутку воно не приносить з собою.

23 I t is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.

Нешляхетне робити забава невігласа, а мудрість людині розумній.

24 W hat the wicked fear, will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.

Чого нечестивий боїться, те прийде на нього, а прагнення праведних сповняться.

25 W hen the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.

Як буря, яка пронесеться, то й гине безбожний, а праведний має довічну основу.

26 A s vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.

Як оцет зубам, і як дим для очей, так лінивий для тих, хто його посилає.

27 T he fear of Yahweh prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Страх Господній примножує днів, а роки безбожних вкоротяться.

28 T he prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.

Сподівання для праведних радість, а надія безбожних загине.

29 T he way of Yahweh is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

Дорога Господня твердиня невинним, а загибіль злочинцям.

30 T he righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.

Повік праведний не захитається, а безбожники не поживуть на землі.

31 T he mouth of the righteous produces wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.

Уста праведного дають мудрість, а лукавий язик буде втятий.

32 T he lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.

Уста праведного уподобання знають, а уста безбожних лукавство.
