І ти будеш понижений, і будеш з землі говорити, і приглушено буде звучати твоє слово. І стане твій голос з землі, мов померлого дух, і шепотітиме з пороху слово твоє.

І буде юрба ворогів твоїх, мов тонкий пил, юрба ж насильників мов полова зниклива, і це станеться нагло, раптовно..

Господь Саваот тебе громом та трусом навідає, і шумом великим, вихром та бурею, та огняним їдким полум'ям.

І буде, як сон, як видіння нічне та юрба всіх народів, що на Аріїла воюють, і всі, хто воює на нього, і проти твердині його, і хто йому докучає.

І буде, мов бачить голодний у сні, ніби їсть, а прокинеться він і порожня душа його, і мов спрагнений бачить у сні, ніби п'є, а прокинеться він і ось змучений, а душа його спрагнена! Так буде натовпові всіх народів, що підуть війною на гору Сіон.

9 P ause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

Одубійте й дивуйтесь, заліпіть собі очі й осліпніть! Вони повпивалися, та не вином, захитались, та не від п'янкого напою,

10 F or Yahweh has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, the prophets; and he has covered your heads, the seers.

бо вилив Господь на вас духа глибокого сну та закрив ваші очі, затьмарив пророків і ваших голів та провидців!

11 A ll vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is educated, saying, “Read this, please”; and he says, “I can’t, for it is sealed:”

І буде вам кожне видіння, немов би слова запечатаної книжки, що дають її тому, хто вміє читати, та кажуть: Читай но оце, та відказує той: Не можу, вона ж запечатана.

12 a nd the book is delivered to one who is not educated, saying, “Read this, please”; and he says, “I can’t read.”

І дають оту книжку тому, хто не вміє читати, та кажуть: Читай но оце, та відказує той: Я не вмію читати.

13 T he Lord said, “Because this people draws near with their mouth and with their lips to honor me, but they have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which has been taught;

І промовив Господь: За те, що народ цей устами своїми наближується, і губами своїми шанує Мене, але серце своє віддалив він від Мене, а страх їхній до Мене заучена заповідь людська,

14 t herefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the understanding of their prudent men will be hidden.”

тому Я ось ізнову предивне вчиню з цим народом, вчиню чудо й диво, і загине мудрість премудрих його, а розум розумних його заховається.

Горе тим, що глибоко задум ховають від Господа, і чиняться в темряві їхні діла, і що говорять вони: Хто нас бачить, і хто про нас знає?

16 Y ou turn things upside down! Should the potter be thought to be like clay; that the thing made should say about him who made it, “He didn’t make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding?”

О, ваша фальшивосте! Чи ганчар уважається рівним до глини? Чи зроблене скаже про майстра свого: Він мене не зробив, а твір про свого творця говоритиме: Він не розуміє цього?

Хіба за короткого часу Ліван на садка не обернеться, а садок порахований буде за ліс?

І в той день слова книжки почують глухі, а очі сліпих із темноти та з темряви бачити будуть,

19 T he humble also will increase their joy in Yahweh, and the poor among men will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

і сумирні побільшать у Господі радість свою, а люди убогі в Святому Ізраїля тішитись будуть!

20 F or the ruthless is brought to nothing, and the scoffer ceases, and all those who are alert to do evil are cut off—

Бо скінчився насильник, і минувся насмішник, і понищені всі ті, хто дбає про кривду,

21 w ho cause a person to be indicted by a word, and lay a snare for the arbiter in the gate, and who deprive the innocent of justice with false testimony.

хто судить людину за слово одне, на того ж, хто судить у брамі, вони ставлять пастку, і праведного випихають обманою.

22 T herefore Yahweh, who redeemed Abraham, says concerning the house of Jacob: “Jacob shall no longer be ashamed, neither shall his face grow pale.

Тому то Господь, що викупив Авраама, сказав домові Якова так: Не буде тепер засоромлений Яків, й обличчя його не поблідне тепер,

23 B ut when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in the middle of him, they will sanctify my name. Yes, they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.

бо як він серед себе побачить дітей своїх, чин Моїх рук, вони будуть святити Моє Ймення, і посвятять Святого Якового, і будуть боятися Бога Ізраїля!

24 T hey also who err in spirit will come to understanding, and those who grumble will receive instruction.”

Тоді то хто блудить у дусі, ті розум пізнають, а хто ремствує, ті поуки навчаться!
