1 B ut on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they and some others came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared.

А дня першого в тижні прийшли вони рано вранці до гробу, несучи наготовані пахощі,

2 T hey found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

та й застали, що камінь від гробу відвалений був.

3 T hey entered in, and didn’t find the Lord Jesus’ body.

А ввійшовши, вони не знайшли тіла Господа Ісуса.

4 W hile they were greatly perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling clothing.

І сталось, як безрадні були вони в цім, ось два мужі в одежах блискучих з'явились при них.

5 B ecoming terrified, they bowed their faces down to the earth. They said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

А коли налякались вони й посхиляли обличчя додолу, ті сказали до них: Чого ви шукаєте Живого між мертвими?

6 H e isn’t here, but is risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee,

Нема Його тут, бо воскрес! Пригадайте собі, як Він вам говорив, коли ще перебував в Галілеї.

7 s aying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again?”

Він казав: Сину Людському треба бути виданому до рук грішних людей, і розп'ятому бути, і воскреснути третього дня.

8 T hey remembered his words,

І згадали вони ті слова Його!

9 r eturned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.

А вернувшись від гробу, про все те сповістили Одинадцятьох та всіх інших.

10 N ow they were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James. The other women with them told these things to the apostles.

То були: Марія Магдалина, і Іванна, і Марія, мати Яковова, і інші з ними, і вони розповіли апостолам це.

11 T hese words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn’t believe them.

Та слова їхні здалися їм вигадкою, і не повірено їм.

12 B ut Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Stooping and looking in, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he departed to his home, wondering what had happened.

Петро ж устав та до гробу побіг, і, нахилившися, бачить лежать самі тільки покривала... І вернувсь він до себе, і дивувався, що сталось...

13 B ehold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem.

І ото, двоє з них того ж дня йшли в село, на ім'я Еммаус, що від Єрусалиму лежало на стадій із шістдесят.

14 T hey talked with each other about all of these things which had happened.

І розмовляли вони між собою про все те, що сталося.

15 W hile they talked and questioned together, Jesus himself came near, and went with them.

І ото, як вони розмовляли, і розпитували один одного, підійшов Сам Ісус, і пішов разом із ними.

16 B ut their eyes were kept from recognizing him.

Очі ж їхні були стримані, щоб Його не пізнали.

17 H e said to them, “What are you talking about as you walk, and are sad?”

І спитався Він їх: Що за речі такі, що про них між собою в дорозі міркуєте, і чого ви сумні?

18 O ne of them, named Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who doesn’t know the things which have happened there in these days?”

І озвався один, йому ймення Клеопа, та й промовив до Нього: Ти хіба тут у Єрусалимі єдиний захожий, що не знає, що сталося в нім цими днями?

19 H e said to them, “What things?” They said to him, “The things concerning Jesus, the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people;

І спитався Він їх: Що таке? А вони розповіли Йому: Про Ісуса Назарянина, що Пророк був, могутній у ділі й у слові перед Богом і всім народом.

20 a nd how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.

Як первосвященики й наша старшина Його віддали на суд смертний, і Його розп'яли...

21 B ut we were hoping that it was he who would redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened.

А ми сподівались були, що Це Той, що має Ізраїля визволити. І до того, оце третій день вже сьогодні, як усе оте сталося...

22 A lso, certain women of our company amazed us, having arrived early at the tomb;

А дехто з наших жінок, що рано були коло гробу, нас здивували:

23 a nd when they didn’t find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive.

вони тіла Його не знайшли, та й вернулися й оповідали, що бачили й з'явлення Анголів, які кажуть, що живий Він...

24 S ome of us went to the tomb, and found it just like the women had said, but they didn’t see him.”

І пішли дехто з наших до гробу, і знайшли так, як казали й жінки; та Його не побачили...

25 H e said to them, “Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!

Тоді Він сказав їм: О, безумні й запеклого серця, щоб повірити всьому, про що сповіщали Пророки!

26 D idn’t the Christ have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?”

Чи ж Христові не це перетерпіти треба було, і ввійти в Свою славу?

27 B eginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

І Він почав від Мойсея, і від Пророків усіх, і виясняв їм зо всього Писання, що про Нього було.

28 T hey came near to the village, where they were going, and he acted like he would go further.

І наблизились вони до села, куди йшли. А Він удавав, ніби хоче йти далі.

29 T hey urged him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is almost over.” He went in to stay with them.

А вони не пускали Його й намовляли: Зостанься з нами, бо вже вечоріє, і кінчається день. І Він увійшов, щоб із ними побути.

30 W hen he had sat down at the table with them, he took the bread and gave thanks. Breaking it, he gave to them.

І ото, коли сів Він із ними до столу, то взяв хліб, поблагословив, і, ламаючи, їм подавав...

31 T heir eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he vanished out of their sight.

Тоді очі відкрилися їм, і пізнали Його. Але Він став для них невидимий...

32 T hey said to one another, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us, while he spoke to us along the way, and while he opened the Scriptures to us?”

І говорили вони один одному: Чи не палало нам серце обом, коли промовляв Він до нас по дорозі, і коли виясняв нам Писання?...

33 T hey rose up that very hour, returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them,

І зараз устали вони, і повернулись до Єрусалиму, і знайшли там у зборі Одинадцятьох, і тих, що з ними були,

34 s aying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”

які розповідали, що Господь дійсно воскрес, і з'явився був Симонові.

35 T hey related the things that happened along the way, and how he was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.

А вони розповіли, що сталось було на дорозі, і як пізнали Його в ламанні хліба.

36 A s they said these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be to you.”

І, як вони говорили оце, Сам Ісус став між ними, і промовив до них: Мир вам!

37 B ut they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

А вони налякалися та перестрашились, і думали, що бачать духа.

38 H e said to them, “Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts?

Він же промовив до них: Чого ви стривожились? І пощо ті думки до сердець ваших входять?

39 S ee my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see that I have.”

Погляньте на руки Мої та на ноги Мої, це ж Я Сам! Доторкніться до Мене й дізнайтесь, бо не має дух тіла й костей, а Я, бачите, маю.

40 W hen he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.

І, промовивши це, показав Він їм руки та ноги.

41 W hile they still didn’t believe for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”

І, як ще не йняли вони віри з радощів та дивувались, Він сказав їм: Чи не маєте тут чогось їсти?

42 T hey gave him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.

Вони ж подали Йому кусника риби печеної та стільника медового.

43 H e took them, and ate in front of them.

І, взявши, Він їв перед ними.

44 H e said to them, “This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled.”

І промовив до них: Це слова, що казав Я до вас, коли був іще з вами: Потрібно, щоб виконалось усе, що про Мене в Законі Мойсеєвім, та в Пророків, і в Псалмах написане.

45 T hen he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures.

Тоді розум розкрив їм, щоб вони розуміли Писання.

46 H e said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,

І сказав Він до них: Так написано є, і так потрібно було постраждати Христові, і воскреснути з мертвих дня третього,

47 a nd that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

і щоб у Ймення Його проповідувалось покаяння, і прощення гріхів між народів усіх, від Єрусалиму почавши.

48 Y ou are witnesses of these things.

А ви свідки того.

49 B ehold, I send out the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.”

І ось Я посилаю на вас обітницю Мого Отця; а ви позостаньтеся в місті, аж поки зодягнетесь силою з висоти.

50 H e led them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

І Він вивів за місто їх аж до Віфанії; і, знявши руки Свої, поблагословив їх.

51 W hile he blessed them, he withdrew from them, and was carried up into heaven.

І сталось, як Він благословляв їх, то зачав відступати від них, і на небо возноситись.

52 T hey worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,

А вони поклонились Йому, і повернулись до Єрусалиму з великою радістю.

53 a nd were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

І постійно вони перебували в храмі, переславляючи й хвалячи Бога. Амінь.
