1 I n the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,

Восьмого місяця другого року Дарія було Господнє слово до пророка Захарія, сина Берехії, сина Іддового, таке:

2 “ Yahweh was very displeased with your fathers.

Розгнівався Господь на батьків ваших палючим гнівом.

3 T herefore tell them: Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Return to me,’ says Yahweh of Armies, ‘and I will return to you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

І скажи їм: Так говорить Господь Саваот: Верніться до Мене, говорить Господь Саваот, і вернуся до вас, говорить Господь Саваот.

4 D on’t you be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: Yahweh of Armies says, ‘Return now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings;’ but they did not hear, nor listen to me, says Yahweh.

Не будьте, як ваші батьки, що до них кликали стародавні пророки, говорячи: Так говорить Господь Саваот: Верніться з доріг ваших злих і з чинів ваших лихих! Та не слухали ви й не прислухались до Мене, говорить Господь.

5 Y our fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?

Де вони, батьки ваші? А пророки чи ж навіки живуть?

6 B ut my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, didn’t they overtake your fathers? “Then they repented and said, ‘Just as Yahweh of Armies determined to do to us, according to our ways, and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.’”

Та слова Мої й постанови Мої, що Я наказав рабам Моїм пророкам, чи ж не досягли вони до ваших батьків? І вернулись вони та й сказали: Як задумав Господь Саваот зробити нам за нашими дорогами й за нашими чинами, так зробив Він із нами.

7 O n the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,

Двадцятого й четвертого дня, одинадцятого місяця, це місяць шеват, за другого року Дарія було слово Господнє до пророка Захарія, сина Берехії, сина Іддового, таке:

8 “ I had a vision in the night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in a ravine; and behind him there were red, brown, and white horses.

Бачив я цієї ночі, аж ось на червоному коні їде муж, і він стоїть між миртами, що в глибині, а за ним коні червоні, руді та білі.

9 T hen I asked, ‘My lord, what are these?’” The angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what these are.”

І сказав я: Що це, мій пане? І відказав мені той Ангол, що говорив зо мною: Я тобі покажу, що це таке.

10 T he man who stood among the myrtle trees answered, “They are the ones Yahweh has sent to go back and forth through the earth.”

І відповів той муж, що стояв між миртами, та й сказав: Це ті, що Господь їх послав обійти землю.

11 T hey reported to Yahweh’s angel who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked back and forth through the earth, and behold, all the earth is at rest and in peace.”

І відповіли вони Господньому Анголові, що стояв між миртами, та й сказали: Перейшли ми землю, і ось уся земля сидить спокійно.

12 T hen Yahweh’s angel replied, “O Yahweh of Armies, how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which you have had indignation these seventy years?”

І відповів Ангол Господній та й сказав: Господи Саваоте, аж доки Ти не змилосердишся над Єрусалимом та над Юдиними містами, на які Ти гніваєшся оце сімдесят літ?

13 Y ahweh answered the angel who talked with me with kind and comforting words.

І відповів Господь Анголові, що говорив зо мною, слова добрі, слова втішливі.

14 S o the angel who talked with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

І сказав до мене той Ангол, що говорив зо мною: Клич, говорячи: Так говорить Господь Саваот: Піклуюся Я про Єрусалим та про Сіон великим піклуванням.

15 I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, but they added to the calamity.”

І гнівом великим Я гніваюся на ті спокійні народи, на яких Я мало гнівався, а вони допомогли злому.

16 T herefore Yahweh says: “I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house shall be built in it,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and a line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’

Тому так промовляє Господь: Вернуся Я до Єрусалиму з милосердям, храм Мій буде збудований у ньому, говорить Господь Саваот, а мірничий шнур буде розтягнений над Єрусалимом.

17 “ Proclaim further, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and Yahweh will again comfort Zion, and will again choose Jerusalem.”’”

Ще клич та й скажи: Так говорить Господь Саваот: Знов добром переповняться міста Мої, і Господь ще потішить Сіона, і ще вибере Єрусалима!

18 I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, four horns.

(2-1) І звів я очі свої, та й побачив, аж ось чотири роги.

19 I asked the angel who talked with me, “What are these?” He answered me, “These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”

(2-2) І запитав я Ангола, що говорив зо мною: Що це? А він відказав мені: Це ті роги, що розпорошили Юду й Ізраїля та Єрусалим.

20 Y ahweh showed me four craftsmen.

(2-3) І Господь показав мені чотирьох майстрів.

21 T hen I asked, “What are these coming to do?” He said, “These are the horns which scattered Judah, so that no man lifted up his head; but these have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations, which lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.”

(2-4) І запитав я: Що вони приходять зробити? А Він відказав, говорячи: Це ті роги, що розпорошили Юду, так що ніхто не підвів голови. А ці прийшли настрашити їх, щоб скинути роги тих народів, що підносять рога проти Юдиного краю, щоб його розпорошити.
