El Señor no permitirá que el justo padezca hambre, pero rechazará la avidez de los impíos.

4 H e becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.

Pobre es el que trabaja con mano negligente, mas la mano de los diligentes enriquece.

5 H e who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.

El que recoge en el verano es hijo sabio, el que duerme durante la siega es hijo que avergüenza.

6 B lessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

Hay bendiciones sobre la cabeza del justo, pero la boca de los impíos oculta violencia.

7 T he memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.

La memoria del justo es bendita, pero el nombre del impío se pudrirá.

8 T he wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.

El sabio de corazón aceptará mandatos, mas el necio charlatán será derribado.

9 H e who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.

El que anda en integridad anda seguro, mas el que pervierte sus caminos será descubierto.

10 O ne winking with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.

El que guiña el ojo causa disgustos, y el necio charlatán será derribado.

11 T he mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

Fuente de vida es la boca del justo, pero la boca de los impíos encubre violencia.

12 H atred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.

El odio suscita rencillas, pero el amor cubre todas las transgresiones.

13 W isdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.

En los labios del entendido se halla sabiduría, pero la vara es para las espaldas del falto de entendimiento.

14 W ise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.

Los sabios atesoran conocimiento, pero la boca del necio es ruina cercana.

15 T he rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

La fortuna del rico es su fortaleza, la ruina de los pobres es su pobreza.

16 T he labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.

El salario del justo es vida, la ganancia del impío, castigo.

17 H e is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.

Por senda de vida va el que guarda la instrucción, mas el que abandona la reprensión se extravía.

18 H e who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.

El que oculta el odio tiene labios mentirosos, y el que esparce calumnia es un necio.

19 I n the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.

En las muchas palabras, la transgresión es inevitable, mas el que refrena sus labios es prudente.

20 T he tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.

La lengua del justo es plata escogida, pero el corazón de los impíos es poca cosa.

21 T he lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.

Los labios del justo apacientan a muchos, pero los necios mueren por falta de entendimiento.

22 Y ahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.

La bendición del Señor es la que enriquece, y El no añade tristeza con ella.

23 I t is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.

Como diversión es para el necio el hacer maldad, y la sabiduría lo es para el hombre de entendimiento.

24 W hat the wicked fear, will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.

Lo que el impío teme vendrá sobre él, y el deseo de los justos será concedido.

25 W hen the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.

Cuando pasa el torbellino, ya no existe el impío, pero el justo tiene cimiento eterno.

26 A s vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.

Como el vinagre a los dientes y el humo a los ojos, así es el perezoso para quienes lo envían.

27 T he fear of Yahweh prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

El temor del Señor multiplica los días, mas los años de los impíos serán acortados.

28 T he prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.

La esperanza de los justos es alegría, pero la expectación de los impíos perecerá.

29 T he way of Yahweh is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

Fortaleza para el íntegro es el camino del Señor, pero ruina para los que obran iniquidad.

30 T he righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.

El justo nunca será conmovido, mas los impíos no habitarán en la tierra.

31 T he mouth of the righteous produces wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.

La boca del justo emite sabiduría, pero la lengua perversa será cortada.

32 T he lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.

Los labios del justo dan a conocer lo agradable, pero la boca de los impíos, lo perverso.
