1 N ow I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

14 T herefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.

15 I speak as to wise men. Judge what I say.

16 T he cup of blessing which we bless, isn’t it a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn’t it a sharing of the body of Christ?

22 O r do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

28 B ut if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” don’t eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For “the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.”

Pero si alguien os dice: Esto ha sido sacrificado a los ídolos, no lo comáis, por causa del que os lo dijo, y por motivos de conciencia; porque del Señor es la tierra y todo lo que en ella hay.

29 C onscience, I say, not your own, but the other’s conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?

Quiero decir, no vuestra conciencia, sino la del otro; pues ¿por qué ha de ser juzgada mi libertad por la conciencia ajena ?

30 I f I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for that for which I give thanks?

Si participo con agradecimiento, ¿por qué he de ser censurado a causa de aquello por lo cual doy gracias ?

31 W hether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Entonces, ya sea que comáis, que bebáis, o que hagáis cualquier otra cosa, hacedlo todo para la gloria de Dios.

32 G ive no occasions for stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;

No seáis motivo de tropiezo ni a judíos, ni a griegos, ni a la iglesia de Dios;

33 e ven as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.

así como también yo procuro agradar a todos en todo, no buscando mi propio beneficio, sino el de muchos, para que sean salvos.
