1 F inally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more.

Por lo demás, hermanos, os rogamos, pues, y os exhortamos en el Señor Jesús, que como habéis recibido de nosotros instrucciones acerca de la manera en que debéis andar y agradar a Dios (como de hecho ya andáis), así abundéis en ello más y más.

2 F or you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

Pues sabéis qué preceptos os dimos por autoridad del Señor Jesús.

3 F or this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,

Porque esta es la voluntad de Dios: vuestra santificación; es decir, que os abstengáis de inmoralidad sexual;

4 t hat each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor,

que cada uno de vosotros sepa cómo poseer su propio vaso en santificación y honor,

5 n ot in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God;

no en pasión de concupiscencia, como los gentiles que no conocen a Dios;

6 t hat no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

y que nadie peque y defraude a su hermano en este asunto, porque el Señor es el vengador en todas estas cosas, como también antes os lo dijimos y advertimos solemnemente.

7 F or God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

Porque Dios no nos ha llamado a impureza, sino a santificación.

8 T herefore he who rejects this doesn’t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.

Por consiguiente, el que rechaza esto no rechaza a hombre, sino al Dios que os da su Espíritu Santo.

9 B ut concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,

Mas en cuanto al amor fraternal, no tenéis necesidad de que nadie os escriba, porque vosotros mismos habéis sido enseñados por Dios a amaros unos a otros;

10 f or indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;

porque en verdad lo practicáis con todos los hermanos que están en toda Macedonia. Pero os instamos, hermanos, a que abundéis en ello más y más,

11 a nd that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you;

y a que tengáis por vuestra ambición el llevar una vida tranquila, y os ocupéis en vuestros propios asuntos y trabajéis con vuestras manos, tal como os hemos mandado;

12 t hat you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.

a fin de que os conduzcáis honradamente para con los de afuera, y no tengáis necesidad de nada. La venida del Señor

13 B ut we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

Pero no queremos, hermanos, que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, para que no os entristezcáis como lo hacen los demás que no tienen esperanza.

14 F or if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

Porque si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también Dios traerá con El a los que durmieron en Jesús.

15 F or this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.

Por lo cual os decimos esto por la palabra del Señor: que nosotros los que estemos vivos y que permanezcamos hasta la venida del Señor, no precederemos a los que durmieron.

16 F or the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,

Pues el Señor mismo descenderá del cielo con voz de mando, con voz de arcángel y con la trompeta de Dios, y los muertos en Cristo se levantarán primero.

17 t hen we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.

Entonces nosotros, los que estemos vivos y que permanezcamos, seremos arrebatados juntamente con ellos en las nubes al encuentro del Señor en el aire, y así estaremos con el Señor siempre.

18 T herefore comfort one another with these words.

Por tanto, confortaos unos a otros con estas palabras.
