1 E phraim feeds on wind, and chases the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and desolation. They make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

Efraín se alimenta de viento, y persigue sin cesar al solano. Multiplica la mentira y la violencia; hacen además pacto con Asiria, y el aceite es llevado a Egipto.

2 Y ahweh also has a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his deeds he will repay him.

El Señor tiene también contienda con Judá, y castigará a Jacob conforme a sus caminos; conforme a sus obras le pagará.

3 I n the womb he took his brother by the heel; and in his manhood he contended with God.

En el vientre tomó a su hermano por el calcañar, y en su madurez luchó con Dios.

4 I ndeed, he struggled with the angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication to him. He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with us,

Sí, luchó con el ángel y prevaleció, lloró y le pidió su ayuda; en Betel le encontró, y allí El habló con nosotros,

5 e ven Yahweh, the God of Armies; Yahweh is his name of renown!

sí, el Señor, Dios de los ejércitos, el Señor es su nombre.

6 T herefore turn to your God. Keep kindness and justice, and wait continually for your God.

Y tú, vuelve a tu Dios, practica la misericordia y la justicia, y espera siempre en tu Dios.

7 A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.

A un mercader, en cuyas manos hay balanzas falsas, le gusta oprimir.

8 E phraim said, “Surely I have become rich, I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”

Y Efraín ha dicho: Ciertamente me he enriquecido, he adquirido riquezas para mí; en todos mis trabajos no hallarán en mí iniquidad alguna que sea pecado.

9 “ But I am Yahweh your God from the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.

Pero yo he sido el Señor tu Dios desde la tierra de Egipto; de nuevo te haré habitar en tiendas, como en los días de la fiesta señalada.

10 I have also spoken to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the prophets I have used parables.

También he hablado a los profetas y multipliqué las visiones; y por medio de los profetas hablé en parábolas.

11 I f Gilead is wicked, surely they are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls. Indeed, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the field.

¿Hay iniquidad en Galaad? Ciertamente son indignos. En Gilgal sacrifican toros, sí, sus altares son como montones de piedra en los surcos del campo.

12 J acob fled into the country of Aram, and Israel served to get a wife, and for a wife he tended flocks and herds.

Mas Jacob huyó a la tierra de Aram, e Israel sirvió por una mujer, y por una mujer cuidó rebaños.

13 B y a prophet Yahweh brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.

Por un profeta el Señor hizo subir a Israel de Egipto, y por un profeta fue guardado.

14 E phraim has bitterly provoked anger. Therefore his blood will be left on him, and his Lord will repay his contempt.

Efraín le ha irritado amargamente; por eso su Señor dejará sobre él su culpa de sangre, y le devolverá su oprobio.
