1 B e therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.

Sed, pues, imitadores de Dios como hijos amados;

2 W alk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.

y andad en amor, así como también Cristo os amó y se dio a sí mismo por nosotros, ofrenda y sacrificio a Dios, como fragante aroma.

3 B ut sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;

Pero que la inmoralidad, y toda impureza o avaricia, ni siquiera se mencionen entre vosotros, como corresponde a los santos;

4 n or filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks.

ni obscenidades, ni necedades, ni groserías, que no son apropiadas, sino más bien acciones de gracias.

5 K now this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.

Porque con certeza sabéis esto: que ningún inmoral, impuro, o avaro, que es idólatra, tiene herencia en el reino de Cristo y de Dios.

6 L et no one deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.

Que nadie os engañe con palabras vanas, pues por causa de estas cosas la ira de Dios viene sobre los hijos de desobediencia.

7 T herefore don’t be partakers with them.

Por tanto, no seáis partícipes con ellos;

8 F or you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

porque antes erais tinieblas, pero ahora sois luz en el Señor; andad como hijos de la luz

9 f or the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,

(porque el fruto de la luz consiste en toda bondad, justicia y verdad),

10 p roving what is well pleasing to the Lord.

examinando qué es lo que agrada al Señor.

11 H ave no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them.

Y no participéis en las obras estériles de las tinieblas, sino más bien, desenmascaradlas;

12 F or the things which are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.

porque es vergonzoso aun hablar de las cosas que ellos hacen en secreto.

13 B ut all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.

Pero todas las cosas se hacen visibles cuando son expuestas por la luz, pues todo lo que se hace visible es luz.

14 T herefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Por esta razón dice: Despierta, tú que duermes, y levántate de entre los muertos, y te alumbrará Cristo.

15 T herefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise;

Por tanto, tened cuidado cómo andáis; no como insensatos, sino como sabios,

16 r edeeming the time, because the days are evil.

aprovechando bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos.

17 T herefore don’t be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Así pues, no seáis necios, sino entended cuál es la voluntad del Señor.

18 D on’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

Y no os embriaguéis con vino, en lo cual hay disolución, sino sed llenos del Espíritu,

19 s peaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing, and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

hablando entre vosotros con salmos, himnos y cantos espirituales, cantando y alabando con vuestro corazón al Señor;

20 g iving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God, even the Father;

dando siempre gracias por todo, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, a Dios, el Padre;

21 s ubjecting yourselves to one another in the fear of Christ.

sometiéndoos unos a otros en el temor de Cristo. Cristo y la iglesia, un modelo para el hogar

22 W ives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

Las mujeres estén sometidas a sus propios maridos como al Señor.

23 F or the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body.

Porque el marido es cabeza de la mujer, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia, siendo El mismo el Salvador del cuerpo.

24 B ut as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything.

Pero así como la iglesia está sujeta a Cristo, también las mujeres deben estarlo a sus maridos en todo.

25 H usbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it;

Maridos, amad a vuestras mujeres, así como Cristo amó a la iglesia y se dio a sí mismo por ella,

26 t hat he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

para santificarla, habiéndola purificado por el lavamiento del agua con la palabra,

27 t hat he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect.

a fin de presentársela a sí mismo, una iglesia en toda su gloria, sin que tenga mancha ni arruga ni cosa semejante, sino que fuera santa e inmaculada.

28 E ven so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.

Así también deben amar los maridos a sus mujeres, como a sus propios cuerpos. El que ama a su mujer, a sí mismo se ama.

29 F or no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly;

Porque nadie aborreció jamás su propio cuerpo, sino que lo sustenta y lo cuida, así como también Cristo a la iglesia;

30 b ecause we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.

porque somos miembros de su cuerpo.

31 “ For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh.”

Por esto el hombre dejara a su padre y a su madre, y se unira a su mujer, y los dos seran una sola carne.

32 T his mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly.

Grande es este misterio, pero hablo con referencia a Cristo y a la iglesia.

33 N evertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

En todo caso, cada uno de vosotros ame también a su mujer como a sí mismo, y que la mujer respete a su marido.
