1 Т огда Иов ответил:

Then Job answered and said:

2 – Еще и сегодня горька моя жалоба; невзирая на мой стон, Его рука тяжела.

“Even today my complaint is bitter; My hand is listless because of my groaning.

3 О , если бы я знал, где мне найти Его! О, если бы я мог войти в жилище Его!

Oh, that I knew where I might find Him, That I might come to His seat!

4 Я бы дело мое перед Ним изложил и наполнил уста свои оправданиями.

I would present my case before Him, And fill my mouth with arguments.

5 Я узнал бы, что Он ответит мне, я бы понял, что Он мне скажет.

I would know the words which He would answer me, And understand what He would say to me.

6 Р азве стал бы Он судиться со мной во всей Своей мощи? Нет! Он выслушал бы меня Сам.

Would He contend with me in His great power? No! But He would take note of me.

7 Т огда праведник мог бы судиться с Ним, и я был бы навеки оправдан моим Судьей.

There the upright could reason with Him, And I would be delivered forever from my Judge.

8 И ду ли на восток, Его там нет; иду ли на запад – не нахожу Его.

“Look, I go forward, but He is not there, And backward, but I cannot perceive Him;

9 Т ворит ли Он что на севере, не вижу Его; повернет ли к югу – не замечаю.

When He works on the left hand, I cannot behold Him; When He turns to the right hand, I cannot see Him.

10 Н о Ему известен мой путь. Пусть Он испытает меня, я выйду, как золото.

But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.

11 Я верно держался Его пути; я хранил Его путь, не уклоняясь в сторону.

My foot has held fast to His steps; I have kept His way and not turned aside.

12 Н е отступал я от повелений из уст Его; больше, чем хлебом насущным, дорожил я Его словами.

I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary food.

13 Н о если Он решил, то кто Ему противостанет? Он творит, что Ему угодно.

“But He is unique, and who can make Him change? And whatever His soul desires, that He does.

14 И сполняет Он Свой приговор против меня, и много подобного в запасе у Него!

For He performs what is appointed for me, And many such things are with Him.

15 П отому я и в ужасе перед Ним; размышляя об этом, страшусь Его.

Therefore I am terrified at His presence; When I consider this, I am afraid of Him.

16 С делал Бог мое сердце слабым; Всемогущий ужасом поразил меня;

For God made my heart weak, And the Almighty terrifies me;

17 н о тьма и мгла, застилающая мне лицо, не ввергли меня в безмолвие.

Because I was not cut off from the presence of darkness, And He did not hide deep darkness from my face.
