1 К огда Ровоам прибыл в Иерусалим, он собрал сто восемьдесят тысяч отборных воинов из дома Иуды и Вениамина, чтобы воевать с Израилем и вернуть себе царство.

Now when Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he assembled from the house of Judah and Benjamin one hundred and eighty thousand chosen men who were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.

2 Н о Шемае, Божьему человеку, было от Бога такое слово:

But the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

3 – Скажи Ровоаму, сыну Соломона, царю Иудеи, и всем израильтянам в доме Иуды и Вениамина:

“Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

4 « Так говорит Господь: Не ходите воевать со своими братьями. Ступайте все по домам, потому что это произошло по Моей воле». Они послушались слова Господа и вернулись из похода против Иеровоама. Ровоам укрепляет города Иудеи

‘Thus says the Lord: “You shall not go up or fight against your brethren! Let every man return to his house, for this thing is from Me.”’” Therefore they obeyed the words of the Lord, and turned back from attacking Jeroboam. Rehoboam Fortifies the Cities

5 Р овоам жил в Иерусалиме и укрепил в Иудее города для защиты:

So Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.

6 В ифлеем, Етам, Текоа,

And he built Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,

7 Б ет-Цур, Сохо, Адуллам,

Beth Zur, Sochoh, Adullam,

8 Г ат, Марешу, Зиф,

Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,

9 А дораим, Лахиш, Азеку,

Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,

10 Ц ору, Айялон и Хеврон. Это укрепленные города в землях Иудеи и Вениамина.

Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and Benjamin, fortified cities.

11 О н укрепил их оборонительные сооружения, поставил в них военачальников и устроил во всех этих городах хранилища для хлеба, оливкового масла и вина.

And he fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of food, oil, and wine.

12 О н также снабдил эти города щитами и копьями и хорошо укрепил их. Земли Иудеи и Вениамина остались под его контролем. Переселение священников и левитов в Иудею

Also in every city he put shields and spears, and made them very strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side. Priests and Levites Move to Judah

13 С вященники и левиты из всех областей земли Израиля встали на его сторону.

And from all their territories the priests and the Levites who were in all Israel took their stand with him.

14 Л евиты даже оставили свои пастбища и все добро и отправились в Иудею и Иерусалим, потому что Иеровоам со своими сыновьями отстранил их от служения Господу.

For the Levites left their common-lands and their possessions and came to Judah and Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them from serving as priests to the Lord.

15 О н назначил своих жрецов в святилищах на возвышенностях, где он поставил идолов в образе козлов и тельцов, которых он сделал.

Then he appointed for himself priests for the high places, for the demons, and the calf idols which he had made.

16 Т е изо всех родов Израиля, кто отдал сердца тому, чтобы искать Господа, Бога Израиля, последовали за левитами в Иерусалим, чтобы приносить жертвы Господу, Богу их отцов.

And after the Levites left, those from all the tribes of Israel, such as set their heart to seek the Lord God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord God of their fathers.

17 О ни укрепили царство Иудеи и поддерживали Ровоама, сына Соломона, три года, ходя путями Давида и Соломона в течение этого времени. Семья Ровоама

So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong for three years, because they walked in the way of David and Solomon for three years. The Family of Rehoboam

18 Р овоам женился на своей двоюродной сестре Махалафе, которая была дочерью Давидова сына Иеримота и Авихаиль, дочери Иессеева сына Елиава.

Then Rehoboam took for himself as wife Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliah the son of Jesse.

19 О на родила ему сыновей: Иеуша, Шемарию и Загама.

And she bore him children: Jeush, Shamariah, and Zaham.

20 З атем он женился на своей двоюродной сестре Маахе, внучке Авессалома, которая родила ему Авию, Аттая, Зизу и Шеломифа.

After her he took Maachah the granddaughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.

21 Р овоам любил Мааху, внучку Авессалома, больше всех своих жен и наложниц. Всего у него было восемнадцать жен и шестьдесят наложниц, двадцать восемь сыновей и шестьдесят дочерей.

Now Rehoboam loved Maachah the granddaughter of Absalom more than all his wives and his concubines; for he took eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and begot twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.

22 Р овоам поставил Авию, сына Маахи, вождем над его собственными братьями, чтобы сделать его царем.

And Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maachah as chief, to be leader among his brothers; for he intended to make him king.

23 О н поступил мудро, разослав своих сыновей по всем землям Иудеи и Вениамина и по всем укрепленным городам. Он дал им в изобилии припасов и подыскал для них много жен.

He dealt wisely, and dispersed some of his sons throughout all the territories of Judah and Benjamin, to every fortified city; and he gave them provisions in abundance. He also sought many wives for them.
