1 С оломон повелел построить дом для Имени Господа и дворец для себя.

Then Solomon determined to build a temple for the name of the Lord, and a royal house for himself.

2 О н поставил семьдесят тысяч человек работать носильщиками, восемьдесят тысяч – каменотесами в горах и три тысячи шестьсот – начальниками над ними.

Solomon selected seventy thousand men to bear burdens, eighty thousand to quarry stone in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.

3 С оломон послал сказать царю Тира Хираму: «Присылай мне кедровые бревна, как присылал их моему отцу Давиду, когда он строил себе дворец.

Then Solomon sent to Hiram king of Tyre, saying: As you have dealt with David my father, and sent him cedars to build himself a house to dwell in, so deal with me.

4 Я хочу построить дом для Имени Господа, моего Бога, и посвятить его Ему, чтобы возжигать перед Ним благовония, постоянно выставлять священный хлеб и каждое утро, каждый вечер, по субботам, в Новолуния и в установленные праздники Господа, нашего Бога, приносить всесожжения. Таково вечное установление для Израиля.

Behold, I am building a temple for the name of the Lord my God, to dedicate it to Him, to burn before Him sweet incense, for the continual showbread, for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, on the New Moons, and on the set feasts of the Lord our God. This is an ordinance forever to Israel.

5 Д ом, который я хочу построить, будет велик, потому что велик наш Бог, превыше всех других богов.

And the temple which I build will be great, for our God is greater than all gods.

6 Н о кто в силах построить Ему дом, если небеса и даже небеса небес не могут Его вместить? И кто я, чтобы строить Ему дом? Я могу, разве что, возжигать перед Ним благовония.

But who is able to build Him a temple, since heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him? Who am I then, that I should build Him a temple, except to burn sacrifice before Him?

7 И так, пришли мне ремесленника, искусного в работе по золоту и серебру, бронзе и железу, а также в работе с пурпурной, алой и голубой пряжей и в искусстве резьбы, чтобы он работал в Иудее и Иерусалиме с моими искусными мастерами, которых выбрал мой отец Давид.

Therefore send me at once a man skillful to work in gold and silver, in bronze and iron, in purple and crimson and blue, who has skill to engrave with the skillful men who are with me in Judah and Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.

8 Е ще пришли мне с Ливана бревен из кедра, сосны и красного дерева, потому что я знаю, что твои люди умеют рубить деревья на Ливане. Мои люди будут работать вместе с твоими,

Also send me cedar and cypress and algum logs from Lebanon, for I know that your servants have skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and indeed my servants will be with your servants,

9 ч тобы заготовить мне дерева в избытке, потому что дом, который я строю, должен быть большим и величественным.

to prepare timber for me in abundance, for the temple which I am about to build shall be great and wonderful.

10 Я дам дровосекам, твоим слугам, которые рубят деревья, двадцать тысяч коров смолотой пшеницы, двадцать тысяч коров ячменя, двадцать тысяч батов вина и двадцать тысяч батов оливкового масла».

And indeed I will give to your servants, the woodsmen who cut timber, twenty thousand kors of ground wheat, twenty thousand kors of barley, twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.

11 Х ирам, царь Тира, ответил Соломону в письме: «Господь любит Свой народ и поэтому сделал тебя его царем».

Then Hiram king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon: Because the Lord loves His people, He has made you king over them.

12 И еще Хирам добавил: «Слава Господу, Богу Израиля, Который создал небо и землю! Он даровал Давиду мудрого сына, наделенного разумом и проницательностью, который построит дом для Господа и дворец для себя.

Hiram also said: Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, for He has given King David a wise son, endowed with prudence and understanding, who will build a temple for the Lord and a royal house for himself!

13 Я посылаю к тебе Хирам-Авия, искуснейшего ремесленника,

And now I have sent a skillful man, endowed with understanding, Huram my master craftsman

14 м ать которого была из рода Дана, а отец был уроженцем Тира. Он опытен в работе по золоту и серебру, бронзе и железу, камню и дереву, а также в работе с пурпурной, голубой и алой пряжей и с тонкими льняными тканями. Он опытен во всякого рода резьбе и может выполнить любой данный ему заказ. Он будет работать с твоими мастерами и с мастерами моего господина Давида, твоего отца.

(the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre), skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, purple and blue, fine linen and crimson, and to make any engraving and to accomplish any plan which may be given to him, with your skillful men and with the skillful men of my lord David your father.

15 И так, пусть мой господин пошлет своим слугам пшеницу, ячмень, оливковое масло и вино, которые он обещал,

Now therefore, the wheat, the barley, the oil, and the wine which my lord has spoken of, let him send to his servants.

16 и мы нарубим деревьев на Ливане столько, сколько тебе нужно, сплавим их плотами по морю в Яффу, и ты сможешь перевезти их в Иерусалим».

And we will cut wood from Lebanon, as much as you need; we will bring it to you in rafts by sea to Joppa, and you will carry it up to Jerusalem.

17 С оломон сделал перепись всех чужеземцев, живших в Израиле после той переписи, которую сделал его отец Давид, и их оказалось сто пятьдесят три тысячи шестьсот человек.

Then Solomon numbered all the aliens who were in the land of Israel, after the census in which David his father had numbered them; and there were found to be one hundred and fifty-three thousand six hundred.

18 О н поставил семьдесят тысяч человек из них работать носильщиками, восемьдесят тысяч каменотесами в горах и три тысячи шестьсот – начальниками, чтобы они побуждали народ работать.

And he made seventy thousand of them bearers of burdens, eighty thousand stonecutters in the mountain, and three thousand six hundred overseers to make the people work.
